I have made a video, changed it to a WMV file and tried to load it into Windows Movie Maker so I can edit it, but this keeps coming up. *-Windows Movie Maker cannot use the audio file C:UsersPopsDesktopBlokart.wmv is in use by another program or does not contain valid audio data.-*
View 6 RepliesI was editing some files in Linux and am now trying to view them in Windows Vista but am having some difficulty. In particular, there's one file named demo?.jpg. When I try to open the file, I can't. When I try to rename it, I get the following error: The file name you specified is not valid or too long. Specify a different name. Certainly going into Linux and renaming it is not a problem, but I'm curious - is there a way to deal with issues such as this in Windows?

This message appears every time Vista starts. We think it has to do with the installation of a HP printer--a Photosmart C4140 which is not fully supported by Vista and won't completely install because of that. The original problem gave this error along with a message that Vista had recovered from a serious error and then would shut down in 1 minute--which it did. Continuously.
I uninstalled the printer and all was well. Funny thing is, the computer and printer were working up until maybe 5 days ago. Perhaps installing only the basic printer drivers for the printer would make this go away? The user says he has no need for scanning, so maybe that solution would work. What we would really like to know is what on earth does the error message mean. What definitions file? What program options?
Are theyre any apps to cut an audio file in half or something like that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 2 accounts on my laptop running Vista Home Premium and Office 2007. One for me and one for my wife. Currently she can't see any email received using my account. The goal is to see all email messages both for her and me. Data files were stored in different locations C:Users<me>...Outlook.pst and C:Users<wife>...Outlook.pst. Well we couldn't see inbox of each other while we are sharing the same email address. I wanted to add her data file to my Personal Folders and my data file to her respectively. When I try to add the data file I've got the error: "The file C:Users<wife>...Outlook .pst cannot be opened". I check that I do have Full permissions for this file.

I am sure that there is someway to take the tracks from these files but I knew that html are internet files! View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having installation problems with a Polish/English Multimedia dictionary. At the start of install I get a pop-up advising that the program needs to install MS Visual C++ 2005 SP1 to run properly. When I click OK it commences the installation of Visual C++ but does not complete the configuration stage before the installation of the dictionary software starts.
The dictionary installation then continues without problem ok but when I try to run it I get an error message that the program cannot read the data file and that I should reinstall again. Also, I note that Visual C++ has failed to install.
The software is Vista compatable and does install ok (including the Visual C++) when I tried it on a on a Vista x86 latop. I have tried installation with UAC disabled, Norton Internet security disabled, even tried installing it in safe mode with a hack to run Windows installer. I have run all installations as Administrator.
Also tried a separate install of Visual C++ 2005 SP1 and also the 2008 version but the dictionary software does not recognise either. To get the 2005 version installed I had to first install the base pack and then the SP1 version, but then I have no idea if it has installed properly.
My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv 3510nr and OS is Vista Home Premium x64 and I bought it about 4 weeks ago in the US. Maybe there is a running service that is conflicting with the software installation, I have no idea.
Im currently using cowon jet audio(latest version 7.1) on my laptop and pc, both computers are running vista home premium with the exception being the laptop on 32 bit and my main pc running 64 bit version. the media players works fine on my laptop in 32 bit no probs at all, but on my main pc its installs fine will play any individual file fine but the problems start when i try to group several files together to play as an an album. it tells me there was an error loading the skin file and i should try either another skin or search the web for new skins. (i have tried this and it doesnt work) ive also tried running in compatible mode with xp and no luck.

Im trying to help a friend fix their sound on their HP Compaq Presario F500 (2EA)Laptop. They have the annoying red cross over the audio icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen (No Volume Mixer).
I have tried numerous things like:-
- Completely uninstalled the (Conexant High Definition) drivers in device manager, restarted and let Vista install them again.
- Downloaded latest drivers from RealTek,, and also HP
- Unfortunately their are no system restore points before the problem happened.
I have a sneaking suspision that either Windows Update installed something that is clashing with this problem or I herd that Itunes may have somethign to do with it (Which was installed near the time).
so its an acer aspire running vista home premium 32 with no updates ever... its my step dads...i cant get into system restore. it wont update. it wont let me into anything even tho i have told it i am the administrator and it says i am... it still says i need to be an administrator. it wont let me into anything that might let me add or remove a program and i get this msg constantly about a badimage telling me that oledlg.dll is not valid or not compatible... i realize now it is a malware problem of some kind i didnt find it with nis or with malware bytes... i ran compufix. it also stalls out when downloading... it will get about 10% of what ever file i am getting then stall out... i attached the log.txt that i got when i ran compufix.... i realize this note is all over the place.... i am at my wits end here...

In any case I noted a difference between Winword2000 and other Office programs: on the normal launch Word shows a window for 'user account control', Cancel, Allow (or something like that, mine is not in english). Running Excel, powerpoint and other, not.
I need to run Word2000 from a vba macro in Access2000: no problem with XP or Win2000. If i call a 'new Word.Application' or 'Shell("c:...winword.exe')' i have the error: Function call or argument not valid or Automation Error To execute the requested operation is needed a higher rights.
If i change for 'calc' or 'notepad' there are no problems. If I put Word in other folder (ex. c: mpwinword.exe) Shell() is able to run it but hen i need to get the variable to control the program: if I call GetObject(,"Word.Application") I get l'error 13.
I keep getting these spam emails from random valid email addresses telling me I have X amount of dollars waiting for me in a online casino. Every time i delete and block the emails address i get another from another email address generated. Its obviously spyware, I have run AVG and spybot and it hasnt fixed the problem. I cant adjust my spam filters cause sometimes theres important emails which get IDd as SPAM by accident. Is there anyway to fix this?

The audio tab has a big red x above it, and when i go to the control panel it says no audio output device is installed. I have tried unistalling and rebooting and that doesnt work because it searches for the audio drives and then ask for a disk, well i dont have a disk and then it tells me it could not find the drive and to contact the manufacturer
