Need a software that will allow me to extract audio segments from a Dvd. I'm very new to CD/DVD RW so hopefully it won't be too complicated for me.

"no audi device installed, in volume mixer"
Im trying to help a friend fix their sound on their HP Compaq Presario F500 (2EA)Laptop. They have the annoying red cross over the audio icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen (No Volume Mixer).
I have tried numerous things like:-
- Completely uninstalled the (Conexant High Definition) drivers in device manager, restarted and let Vista install them again.
- Downloaded latest drivers from RealTek,, and also HP
- Unfortunately their are no system restore points before the problem happened.
I have a sneaking suspision that either Windows Update installed something that is clashing with this problem or I herd that Itunes may have somethign to do with it (Which was installed near the time).
I have a Gateway MX6445 i bought it back in 2006 i recently updated from xp to vista ultimate x64 when i updated it everything was ok except audio. The audio tab has a big red x above it, and when i go to the control panel it says no audio output device is installed. I have tried unistalling and rebooting and that doesnt work because it searches for the audio drives and then ask for a disk, well i dont have a disk and then it tells me it could not find the drive and to contact the manufacturer
View 7 Replies View RelatedPrior to installing Vista, Windows XP had drivers for my Conexant Sound Card but 3 days ago I installed Vista Ultimate and I can't seem to find drivers for my sound card, I used Everest Ultimate and it shows my Sound Card as Riptide Audio Device, the problem is that currently I'm making my speakers work on the onboard audio, But the output is too low since the speakers lack amplifiers. Tell me if my Sound Card Diver in XP would be compatible in Vista! PS: I've tried Windows Update and It says that it couldn't find the drivers for my Sound Card.
View 9 Replies View RelatedRunning a Toshiba Satellite (nice speakers) under Vista Home Premium SP2. There is a series of audio interviews on the web that I want to record on my HD. Currently, I'm having acceptable results simply playing through the speakers and picking it up through the microphone using Sound Recorder. It's not exactly high fidelity, but I'm dealing with speech, not music. The only problem is that it's vulnerable to any noise in the area, and four to six grandkids can produce that effortlessly.
I asked Geek Squad if I could just jumper the earphones output to the mic input, thereby blocking out external noise. She said it wouldn't work because ... yadda yadda .. powered mic ... yadda yadda ... a lot of extra noise. She confused me further with talk about software that will do this. I tried a free trial of one, but it looked as though it was still depending about the output from speakers and said nothing about gagging grandkids. Is there a way to play audio from a website and record it on my HD without depending on immediate airspace?
If I run the default Vista audio drivers the output volume on my external speakers is very low (i would guess 10% of maximum) with all volume controls set to maximum. Double and Triple Checked - but no change. I have read here an in other forums to try updating to the new Realtek Audio drivers. I have done so, but when I do all of the volume comes from the internal speaker only on the tower. No audio coming out of external speakers. The Realtek Audio Manager in the system tray show a red (ish) speaker.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI used to connect my HP Pavilion dv9260nr Notebook to my Sharp Aquos LCD tv through an HDMI cable and got audio and video w/ no problems. About 2 months ago I reinstalled Vista Ultimate x64. I haven't tried to reconnect until recently and now I get video but no audio.
I have tried to set SPDIF Interface to default like I used to but it doesn't work. You can see the green "mixer" bar moving, but I can't hear anything. Also, when it's set to default the configure box is greyed out.
I have the latest Conexant High Definition Audio Driver, 4.33.1.61.
I also have Vista Codec pack v511 installed.
Seems like I need to "enable" hdmi somewhere but I can't find anywhere to.
I have a dell lalptop with windows vista basic. I have used the sound recorder before but the quality is not that great (using the inbuilt mic). So today I brought a microphone headset (cheap one). But I still find a little bit of background noise using the sound recorder. I need this because I do poetry and I am doing some recorded peotry for use as backing for a dvd. Im just looking for the cheapest resonable option. Has anyone got any ideas? I have done a couple of peoms to dvd but the sound lets it down. This is just a project at the moment so I dont wont to spend louds of money on equipment.

Transferring the whole contents of the DVDs would take up way too much storage on my MP3 player. Can Windows Media Player do this?

Many complains i have seen on the net about sound crashing when using this combo.
I also have the same problem with SRS.
I came up with the why....? but not the how to fix it.
I have an MSI sli v2, with the HD realtek alc888, 7.1 capable audio connector.
I used to have installed windows xp x86, in this system and used SRS 32bit version and it worked great, never had a crash.
Now I re installed my system with the lattest trend that is ....Windows Vista Ultimate x64....i had to get myself the x64 version of SRS. I installed it and ran it, and now the problems start. It sounds great untill it crashes.
(I did install the 32 bit vesrsion of SRS in Vista Ultimate x86 for a friend and he doesn't suffer from crashes)
So my deduction here is that the problem lies in the x64 drivers of SRS or the capacity for vista x64 to handdle such a fine program.
(i have not tryed the x64 version of xp yet to single out if it is the xp/vista or is the 32/64 conflicts with SRS)
So if any one wants to join this discussion, to see if we can come up to the solution....i tell you there will be many happy ears out there!

I reconnected my computer and i know everything is correctly plugged in but my audio isn't working i can't hear a thing.
I am on Vista Home premium
And I'm using Realtek High Definition Audio
When i check the Sound settings everything is High and maxed out nothing is on mute and it shows that my speakers are emitting noise.
I posted this question a while ago, but didnt get any response. here it is again ( I am kinda desperate now), before I take my copmuter to service, Id like to know if someone had a similar problem. Or a solution. Recently I installed Logitech caemra on my computer.After connecting it I lost audio. No sound in my speakers, not even in headphones. I uninstalled my camera, but it didnt help at all, there is no way I could get the sound back. There didn't seem to be any error with an installation. I dont think my audio driver was corrupted. Is it just a coincidence or did installation caused this problem. How can I get my sound back?
View 8 Replies View RelatedOn a fairly regular basis I get choppy audio. This happens both when doing streaming video or playing a musci file directly from my desktop hard drive. Other times I can play an entire movie without any problem. Once the problem happens the only way to fix it is to do a reboot which is really annoying especially if the problem occurs half way thru a playback. I have windows vista home premium, 4GB ram and a ton of hard drive memory as well as a video card with 256k of ram and DSL broadbanc internet . I should have enough capability for this not to happen. Is there anyway to diagnose if this is a software proble or hardware issue? Also, how would I go about checking to see if any of the hardware devices need to up updated?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAfter installing SP2 I noticed that Windows had replaced my Realtek HD Audio driver with its own older version. It also now appears twice in the Device Manager; I can remove one of them with no ill effects but it is redetected at next boot and reinstalled. So I removed both of them, installed the latest Realtek driver and rebooted. Now I still have two instances - one (called Realtek High Definition Audio) with the Realtek driver and the other (simply called High Definition Audio Device) with the Microsoft drivers. If I force the Microsoft one to use the Realtek drivers it crashes horribly with a BSoD (so I won't be doing that again!).
Once again I can remove the Microsoft one with no ill effects but it's redetected and installed again on the next boot.Something in my memory tells me I always had two entries under 'Sound, Video and game controllers' but the second one wasn't called "High Definition Audio Device" and the Driver Provider was Realtek, not Microsoft. Trouble is, I can't remember what it was called, or what it was for. I could always do a System Restore to pre-SP2 and find out that way but it's probably worth finding out here first whether I'm worrying about nothing or not. It seems I've got two components of the same chip with drivers from different releases.
I recently bought a new PC with Windows Vista on. It supports HD audio, and came with Realtek HD Audio Drivers. I do however only have 2 "normal" speakers -- no surround equipment or anything like that at all. And I think the audio sounds weird now, compared with my old PC, which did not have this "HD Audio" thing. Is there any way to go back to plain old audio? Maybe it can be done in the Realtek HD Audio confguration in the Control Panel?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't get the the audio to work (at all) on Vista x64. I went from XP to Windows 7 that didn't work out because I couldn't find any audio drivers that worked. So I decided to switch to Vista for the time being, same thing no audio. I've tried installing the chipset and several versions of the audio drivers (RealTek). I've checked device manager and it detects it and shows it's working fine (even get the green bars when music plays).

Connected pc to lcd via hdmi - no problems. picture - good, no issues as of yet audio going through the tv - sound from all sources except dvd's - digital output/sound is enabled. The DVD sound does play through the laptop speakers while watching the movie. used various DVD playback software all = no sound from tv
After I restarted my computer, all of a sudden none of the audio on my music or video files is working. Windows sounds and some sounds for online games still work, but when I play music or watch a movie, VLC outputs a bunch of errors, WMP says it can't play the file because it's in use by another program (even though the video or visualization continues in the back ground), and iTunes doesn't do anything when I click play. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the Windows Audio service though.
Also, at the same time this happened I started having network trouble. I can connect to the Internet, but the Network and Sharing Center won't give any information about my connection, when I hover my mouse over the LAN system tray icon it says "Connection status: unknown Server execution failed", and some of my programs that use UPnP can't create port mappings on my router.
I get sound fine from my 2.1 speakers and even my home theatre for most of my stuff. But when i go to set up the optical spdif properties, it doesnt let me choose 5.1 speakers even after ive checked off dts dd and wma pro. If i hit test on any one of these it cycles through all the speakers properly. I dont understand why it wont let me select 5.1. My mobo's hdaudio program is called soundMAX blackhawk and its the same way. Its very frusterating as i want to set my speakers in COD to 5.1 but it says i have to change my default audio to do it and its already set to spdif default. Someone have an idea?? Oh and im pretty sure it was working with blurays for 5.1 properly also. Still wont let me select 5.1 tho.

This happens no matter what media player I use for either audio or video (even when set to realtime priority), and occurs on the internal Sigmatel C-Major AC97 family chip (both with and without external speakers plugged into the headphone jack) as well as on my PCMCIA Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. I've got the latest drivers for both audio devices, and have also tried rolling back to previous versions.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the computer HDMI hooked to the receiver HDMI and the receiver HDMI output hooked to the LCD HDMI input. I see Vista DESKTOP on the TV but do not have sound. When I go into the Realtek HD Audio Manager I do not see an option to Choose Digital Output device HDMI. Bios does not have an HDMI choice. I tried driver updates did not work. I have another Media Center PC. which I connected the same way the HP is connected I do get Video and Sound.

I have an HP notebook but the HP site does not have any drivers for Windows 7. I would like to find the proper newsgroup or tech group for Windows 7. I know it has been mentioned here in the past. View 8 Replies View RelatedToday after installing Service Pack 2 for Vista, I noticed an icon in my Notification Area that wasn't there before. It was for SignaTelAudio. No matter where I checked I could NOT find a way to get rid of it. So, at that point I unchecked it in MSconfig so that the next time I rebooted hopefully it would be gone.
But before I rebooted I was checking on SignaTel in Control Panel trying to figure out what it was all about all of a sudden. In doing that I clicked on something and now I have NO sound and the Volume Control in the Notification Area has a red x in it. I have tried to reverse what I did but can't seem to find the option that was there before. I've tried a couple of things after searching the Internet but with no luck. In Device Manager, it states things are working. I know Windows Update did a system restore. Should I try to uninstall the Service Pack 2 or do a System Restore? I tried to play a song in Media Player and got nothing of course.
I am getting absolutely no sound from my pc, My audio device is listed as HDMI. When i try installing the original Asus driver for Vista x64 Ultimate the setup halts saying "The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware"
I have tried realtk HD drivers too but no sound....this has been going up for about a week and now i am really fed up with this expensive piece of crap. The onboard audio has a 5.1 speaker support, i even tried head phones in indivisual audio jak including the front panel jack but no sound.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a RED X marked on the "speakers/audio" icon on the taskbar. All my drivers / updates are up to date. I am using the Windows audio drivers as the Dell IDT ones are rubbish. I have researched this via google...used all the so called solutions/fixes...but none of them work. I used this:-
A high definition audio device may no longer work after you resume Windows Vista from hibernation or from sleep. It says the update is not relevant for me. Tried uninstalling & reinstalling drivers... multiple restarts...still does not work. Also booted via Vista disc(Dell provided)...it used startup fix....this did not work............
1) Audio stutters every 30 seconds or so for about 3-4 seconds.
- I've tried updating BIOS, but I get the same "Internal Error" type message everytime, even though it's the correct version that's supposed to be compatible with Vista 64.
- I've tried updating the audio drivers. The only driver that worked was the version that's about 2 releases old because the newer versions all had random errors and didn't work with Vista (even though they said they were supposed to).
- I thought if I turned off some advanced audio processing features it would fix the problem, but I can't get Intel Audio Studio installed because it says "This is not the correct driver for this sysetem" even though it IS.
2) BIOS refuses to update, saying "There is an internal error" or something along those lines. I looked up that error message in Intel's readme and it said it's due to a lack of hard drive space--but I have 450 GB free!.......
