Viewing Other Users Mailboxes On Windows Mail

Jun 9, 2009

I recently purchased a new PC with Windows Vista (R) Home Premium + Windows Mail pre-installed. I set up Vista with two users, both on administrator status. Both users use the same common email address & ISP provider to send & receive emails. When either user connects to Windows Mail the new emails download into their user mailbox & the other user cannot view them. I wish to configure Windows Mail so emails will download into both users mailboxes at the same time, irrespective of which user is logged on. This is required so either user can view all the emails received & can reply to any of them.

Viewing Pane In Windows Mail

May 21, 2009

When I open any one of my folders is there a way to NOT have the contents of the first e-mail listed displayed in the Preview Pane automatically? I know that if I click to the far right of the e-mail list the Preview Pane will be empty and a message will show that says "There is no message selected." Ultimately this is what I would like to see when I open any of my folders.

Windows 7 Provides No Real Benefits: Vista / Windows 7 Are Mostly Transparent To Normal Users - Even Monster Power Users

Oct 9, 2009

I calculated that to migrate to Vista or Windows 7 will cost close to =A32000. not including my time - It will take around 100 hours. This is because many of my existing software / tools / utilities does not work on Vista and the vendors expect me to buy a new license because it is a "new product" even though it does exactly what it did before - just on a different OS. Even the products that do work have problems and glitches that have to be worked around. All this takes time MY VALUABLE time. In other words I am suffering because Microsoft want money. In the past some versions of windows were worth migrating to Windows 2000 and Windows XP were great

But most of the improvements to Vista / Windows 7 are mostly transparent to normal users - even monster power users like me. I believe Microsoft have a serious attitude problem. just wait until they take full advantage of TPM to screw even more money out of us. If I am wrong please point out a real tangible benefit that Vista or Windows 7 brings to a large percentage of users or to me. I also I can no longer buy a laptop because they only come with Vista GPU drivers (some come with buggy unsupported XP GPU drivers - great)

Email Passwords: Set The Mailboxes

Mar 23, 2008

Vista Home Premium x64, Office XP with Service Pack 3. I set up my Outlook? 2002 (10.6515.6626) to do my email but it will not remember my passwords. Every time I open the program it tells me I need to enter my password. I do so and I check the box to remember the password. It does the same thing when I go to send an email. It does the same thing if I go in through "Tools - E-mail accounts" and set the mailboxes up all over again. It will not remember my passwords.

Mail Password Prompt When Switching Users

Mar 23, 2008

My wife and I have different email ids with the same ISP and I have setup a shared Store Folder that we both use. Vista Mail is setup in each of our Accounts so that when I "send and receive" I get her emails as well as mine. The same happens from her own User Account.

The problem that we now have, which did not occur on Windows XP and Outlook, is that whenever we "Switch User" and start up Mail we are prompted by Windows Security to enter the User Name and Password for each email account even though "Remember my credentials" is checked.

I have tried all of the "fixes" I can find including deleting c:/Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Protect and not using the "Apply" button when creating the Mail Accounts (See "Microsoft mail does not retain username and password" in this Newsgroup).

Degradation In TV Viewing

Mar 15, 2009

I have Vista Ultimate and the media center has started to show a choppy video and audio when watching TV. I have a digital TV tuner that records TV shows without the choppy playback most of the time. I save the recorded TV shows to an external hard drive. This is a new Dell computer with 4 GB of memory and a 2.4 GHz Intel processor. At first I never had this problem, but recently the TV viewing is impossible. I have updated all of the drivers to the latest versions without effect. Can anyone tell me to isolate the cause of the recent degradation in the TV viewing?

Viewing The Videos Freeze

May 4, 2008

i've only just recently got set up with vista (home basic), and, until this last week, haven't had any problems viewing the content offered by Internet, plus other online video sites. (no, not porn!):o) anyway, for some reason, over the last week or so, i'm having problems viewing the videos, due to what looks like a lot of buffering. they take ages to load, and then every few seconds, they freeze for a while, before carrying on. a few seconds later, the very same thing happens, so i've just given up on viewing anything at all, as it's driving me mad. has anyone else been experiencing this problem? if so, is there anything that can be done to get things back on track?

Doesn't Actually Show Up Normal Viewing

Mar 23, 2008

I use the Pictures folder alot on my Vista based computer, and recently I was sorting through some of the pictures, deciding which ones to keep and which to delete. Most of these I have copied from my digital camera, and some I have downloaded from the web. Well, after having gone through them all, there is at least one in particular that I cannot seem to delete. I don't want it to just be sent to the Recycle Bin, but completely erased from the computer. I have discounted any viruses or spyware, and checked all my 'Folder' settings, but nothing I can think of to do will remove this file from the folder. It also does not actually show up in normal viewing, only if i do a search using special variables. It only shows up if I type, "*.jpg" into the search bar when I am viewing the directory. I can't however do anything with the file. I can't move it, I can't rename it, and while it shows a thumbnail image of the photo, when I click on it to open it, the picture viewer shows no photo-representation. I also can't replace it with another file with the same exact name. How do I permanently remove this one file? And how did it get to the point of being undeletable. File properties do not show that it is 'hidden' or 'read only'.

Some combination if key press' will put it back to normal I guess. But looking hard at the icons on the keys... its not at all clear which ones.

Picture Viewing:computer Changing The Original Look Of Pictures

Jul 29, 2008

I have saved about 3000 photos in my computer under a folder called photos. But since some weeks, my computer is changing the original look of my pictures to very ugly views. I meant sometimes when I open my photo folders, suddenly some pictures are getting discoloured automatically. Sometimes the pictures are cutting to two pieces automatically. If the picture's background is green, sometimes it is changing to red, yellow or some other colour. But after this happened, I cannot get them back to it's original view at all. I don't know what's happening here. Already I have lost lot of my important photos because of this, and I even haven't saved them somewhere else. I already have deleted them from my camera too. Since I bought this computer, I am getting lot of problems in this. I don't know if it is because of VISTA or any other Hardware problem on this computer.

Linux Users Lose Again Why Windows Rulez And Linux Drools

Apr 28, 2009

You had better not be using Linux because they don't support Linux. "Most Linux users are serious computer users. We?re geeks, and geeks use a lot of internet. Wouldn?t it be wise of AT&T to just acknowledge us?" Linux users are an oddball bunch of less than 1 percent of the desktop populous.

"This is not the first time I?ve run into problems with AT&T pretending that the world consists entirely of Windows and Macintosh. Once I was helping someone else get a Linux system going with AT&T DSL, and they flat-out refused to give her the manual setup instructions for the connection if she couldn?t use the automated Windows or Mac installer. The tech told her? If you run Linux you should be able to figure it all out on your own. I won?t help you, and I won?t transfer you to anyone else.".............
