I plugged in the USB cable to install, but I get the error message: "Windows cannot find driver software." I tried the 'Add Printer' function, and while it adds the printer, I am still unable to print anything. I keep getting an error message.
I do not have the disk for the printer, so I can't install the software that way. When I plug in the USB, it appears in the Device Manager as Other Devices, Unknown Device rather than in the USB list. When I check the properties for the Unknown Device, I get this message:......
I tried to load the drivers for my printer which seem to load ok but then I get the message "usb2.0 mfp (high speed) device found" and I don't know what to do next as windows update carnt find the driver.
I have a yellow caution sign next to my WAN Miniport (SSTP) in Device manager. I tried to update this MS driver but Vista does not find one. I suspect this is the driver problem error that is causing the SP1 install error.

I click for it to check for an update and can't. It suggests to go to the manufacture site to get it, I haven't a clue what the heck this is or what it does... I tried uninstalling, rebooting, it tells me it can't find the driver.
i just want to know when i want to format my primary hard drive (c: volume) to windows vista 32 bit i select format this drive and it takes about 2 second is this possible? because its relly deleted all (i rememmber full format in windows xp that took some time at least 45 minutes)
I got a new Acer Aspire M3800-U3802A desktop machine and I updated everything in Vista HP SP1 OEM. However, I did not get its IE8 since it was optional and I didn't want it yet. It does not offer me a SP2. Why is that? I read it can be picky on drivers and stuff, but which ones? Do I really have to get every driver and updates from Acer.com? I know I can get the stand alone SP2, but I would like to know why Windows Update is refusing to give me SP2.
i have a pavilliion dv6000t, intel cpu laptop...anyhow...i look at the device manager, under intel pro 100, and 3945 intel wirles...it does not say device is running properly.....i have this stated-windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. the driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39) there are exclamation points besides everything in the networking adapter in device manager. what might be the problem here...is it the drivers for the 2 devices?
I have a new WD external hard drive that I'm trying use with Vista Ultimate, but when I connect the drive I get an error message saying, "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. USB Mass Storage Device Access is denied" I found a KB article which seems to be related, but even after acquiring and installing the hotfix I still can't get the drive to install. There are discussions on this general subject but no aparent resolution. About two months ago I was sometimes prevented from opening photo attachments on some emails received from the same party and sometimes could open them. By this I mean, I would click on the paperclip where a list of photos would appear and I'd click on on photo and I'd get a message saying: "Windows cannot find file name (photo captions used by sender).jpg. Make sure your typed the name correctly and then try again." Well, of course I didn't type the file name; the sender did. I could click on the save attachments, and once saved to a folder I could open them from the folder. I forwarded the mail to others, and they report no problems in viewing the photos. I can also view the photos in the email itself, but it would be necessary to scan up and down and from left to right to view the whold photo and the caption would not appear.
My vista keeps locking up after various amounts of time, no matter whether its just idling, or im making the computer work hard. As ive read on other topics, I think its a driver issue, but I just dont know what to do. I will try another fresh vista install tomorrow and get the vista updates quickly to see whether that helps the situation. I have ensured it isnt overheating like it did initially when I bought the system, and it is now a safe and low temperature in a running state. Also, it only detects 3.5Gb of the 4Gb of RAM I have in my system. PC Spec:
Ive re-installed, windows, and it froze after I installed the chipset driver. I contiuned, and found a sound driver wasnt digitally signed. However it still crashes. I have got the latest drivers for it. For it to crash, all i did was open recycle bin, from idle state.
In the process of trying to get current (I am within 2000 messages) with the messages in this group, I have seen many requests for help with problems about attachments. I am interested in helping diagnose the problem if I can.
I don't need help with a workaround; I don't mind saving attachments, which works for me. I am a developer with Visual Studio 2008 and such and I will attempt to diagnose the problem if possible.
I had assumed I don't have the problem but I am getting the following when I try to view a jpeg attachment:
"Windows cannot find 'Photo0192.jpg'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
Is that the same problem most people are getting when they have a problem with attachments?
The only thing I am aware of that might have caused a problem is that I installed IE 8 when it was still very buggy, and then I uninstalled it. Later at some point Windows Update re-installed IE 8 (I assume that happened when IE 8 was released). I assume that since most people encountering the problem are non-technical, they would not have installed a beta version of IE 8.
Could the problem be a security problem? If so, could it might help to audit security failures? I am not sure of the details of doing that, but I am interested in trying things such as that if it helps diagnose the problem for Microsoft to know what to fix.
I can't find any newsgroup dealing with Windows 7, are there any? I need to ask a couple of questions in regards XP Mode, if there aren't any newsgroups for Windows 7 what would be the next best place
I have yet another problem with my lame vista laptop and this time, it's the net yet again! I can't seem to find any wireless networks nor can I find mine. I've tried to do some of the things people suggested with previous posts like mine but, I it doesn't seem to work. Wireless Network Connection is disabled, I try to enable it and it doesn't work p.s. I can access the internet when I connect the DSL modem directly to my laptop.
running Vista OS 32 bit on hp pavilion laptop. Began getting the error msg about a month ago when I try to connect to Internet ... sometimes it connects, most times not. I've run two different AV pgms plus malware pgm, but to no avail; problem still persists.
I've just got a new PC with the dreaded Vista installed so I thought I'd use Windows Mail rather than an older version of Outlook I've been using on my previous PC. I send out email to a number of lists and I use Bcc to hide all of the addresses. Trouble is, I can't find Bcc in Windows Mail. Is it there and if so where is it?
In XP I had fax console. Where is it in Vista. I have been all through the program files and don't see it. Does this self install with the installation of Vista, or must I add it from the installation DVD. There also seems to be something called windows fax and scan, but I can't find that either.
I am running windows Vista 32 bit, and everything was working great until I uninstalled Norton 360. Following uninstall, my DVD drive no longer worked (I corrected that issue) and my network no longer works. I am wired into a router, and also wireless on the same computer. Bother worked well, until the uninstall. Now, I can't even see the router, even though I'm wired to it. The wireless connection successfully connects to the router (or so it seems), but also cannot see the router.I suspect there is a registry error (or key corruption), but cannot find which keys are corrupt.Has anyone ever had this problem? Again, I corrected the DVD issue, but cannot identify the network issue.
OMG I have sooo much to learn moving from XP to Vista.. one question.. is there such a thing as Windows Explorer in Vista? It's something I used a LOT, and can't seem to find.
I getting a new desktop with Windows 7 and 64-Bit. I am trying to find out if Internet Explorer is a part of Windows 7 (64-Bit) or would I have to download and install IE 8? If this is not right place for this question. I couldn't find board for Win 7.
here's the problem: If I double-click on an Excel file, I get the following message: "Windows cannot find /path/. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." Excel opens up fine, but without the workbook. If, within Excel, I open the file up using OfficeOrb -> Open, it opens just fine.
I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 and I run Windows Vista Home Basic on it. Last night after downloading and install NOD32 I started getting Bluescreen crashes everytime I used the internet. This happened about 8 times before I finally put it in safe mode and ran SystemRestore. I reverted back to one day prior and it resovled the bluescreen crashes; however, now I cannot open the control panel without Windows explorer failing to respond and anything I seem to save instantly disappears off of my desktop and cannot be found on the harddrive with an advanced search. Finally, there is some remnant of some program I installed last night still present called "Sprt Client Interface" running in the process area in the lower right. When I try to open it, it says windows cannot find bconte.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again." I cannot all the specs but I have an Intel T2250 with 1G of RAM.
I have a dial-up networking connection already set up on my Windows Vista Home Basic machine, which is equipped with Service Pack 1. Yet, when I log on as one particular user, and then click Start > Connect To, my dial-up networking connection does not appear, and the "Connect to a network" window says "Windows can't find any networks" when I am not connected, or "Windows cannot find any additional networks" when I am connected.
At the same time, I find on my desktop a folder named "_hiddenPbk", which, when I open it, contains a file called "rasphone.pbk". I have just found out that this folder, as well as the file associated with it, belongs in the folder called "%APPDATA%MicrosoftNetworkConnectionsPbk". I copied the "_hiddenPbk" folder from my desktop to this folder and restarted my machine, but the effort turns out to be for naught: My dial-up connection still does not appear in the "Connect to a network" window. This quandary is user-wide only, meaning that this predicament only happens when I log on to my Windows Vista machine as user "X" but not as user "Y" or "Z" or any other user.
