Mar 24, 2009I recently got a Dell computer running Vista. I have a Hauppauge 1250 internal tuner card installed and digital signal running through coax from a spliter into my PC. I know that I am getting a signal because when I run WinTV (the application that comes with the Hauppauge tuner) I am able to watch all the digital channels. However, when I try to watch live tv on the media center, all I get is static. I tried consulting with customer support at Hauppauge up.

Mar 8, 2009A recent TV guide update appears to have resulted in a loss of all channels from 32 to 71. I have COMCAST (Portland, OR) and for over 1.5 years my guide updates have always shown Ch's 1 - 71. For the last 48 hours the upper channels are not even listed. My TV can still access those channels, so they haven't been dropped. I've rebooted & downloaded the most recent guide.
I've re-ran TV Setup & elected "No Guide" then rebooted & tried again, electing to use the guide, but still same results. I've been searching/reading 100's post trying to get an idea why this is suddenly happening and how to resolve. So, the guide is downloading & displaying channels, but not channels 32-71. Oh, I can manually add and access the missing channels, which will work in a pinch, but of course the channel lineup shows "no data available."
Emails Recieved But Not Send
Mar 29, 2008i'm doing this for mum mum because she has got a new windows mail account but using her old google mail address (i'm not sure how, the man next door set it up for her..!). Emails will come through, but every time she tries to send one it comes up with a big box saying "some errors occured while processing the requested task" and underneath in the details section it says this:

Unable To Recieved Incoming Emails
May 3, 2009I am with Virgin Media, but suddenly from 29th April I haven't received any emails to my account, my son's account is fine and I sent a test email from his account to mine and nothing, so I tried the other way round I sent him a test email and he received that, so I know I can send emails but just not receive.

May 22, 2008I just recently purchased a new game, and it said it would help the game's performance to install Vista Service Pack 1. While doing this, at the end of configuring updates, I recieved a black screen and "0xc0190036" with some message like keyboard. after it. It never changed from this screen. From different websites online, I read my best bet is to reinstall Vista. I have an Acer computer, and I am not positive that I recieved a back-up CD with my purchase. If I did, it must be lost, as my house is organized like an OCD freak would do. I was able to find XP OS disk, and quickly put that in, only to soon realize this was a Dell OS. This basically was a whole bunch of fail, and now it seems my only option is to boot "CD-ROM" with the Vista CD which I do not have in there...

Jan 22, 2010I have had my vista home premium system for a little over a year with no real issues. The other day I did a system restart . The manufactures logo which normally comes up for about 20 seconds before moving on to the microsoft welcome screen stayed on for at least 5 minutes and then the screen went black for a couple of minutes. Then a short blinking cursor with a message that "Bios not installed!", then black for several minutes and then a message that the pc could not start and I was prompted to select an option for automatic repair. I did so and after about 10 minutes and an automated system restore , my system booted up and everything seemed to run ok. This morning I decided to try a restart again. While I did not get any messages to run any repairs, the system did stay at the manufactures logo for several minutes, then a black screen for several more minutes before finally getting to the microsoft welcome screen. Does anyione have any insight as to what might be happening and how to fix this?
I have windows vista home premium, service pack 2. Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600. 4GB Ram, 32 bit operating system.
Lost TV Channels
Nov 11, 2009I set about re-scanning but ended up with fewer channels. I scanned again and got even fewer channels. I started with 72; then it was 56; then it was 41; now it is 31. All channels were working yesterday. I got an update this morning around 09:00 GMT. Has this got something to do with what is happening to my system? Does anyone know? esterday evening (GMT) I received a further update and rescanned the TV channels. It went up to 56. It remained at 56 after rescanning this morning.

Sep 14, 2009I have checked the other threads and have done the regedit but nothing has changed. I still have major distortion and pixilation in many of my images. I use this program daily and it is very hard to get through some of my images, as i read text on them. My computer is brand new and this is the first time i have used vista. I never had this issue with xp.
Major NVIDIA GeForce: Graphics Become Distorted
Aug 17, 2008I just now decided to join but I've been looking around the forums for a while now as a guest. Recently I was referred to the website laptopvideo2go.com by these forums. I went there and because I had the old factory installed version 98.15 driver for my NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150, I decided to download one of the newer ones. By the way, I have a HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop. The driver that I chose was 7.15.0011.7770. It installed correctly and everything worked fine except for the fact that whenever I logged on, the screen would flash black and the graphics would become distorted and blurry and my desktop icons would look really magnified. But then, a few seconds later, the black screen would flash again and the graphics would go back to normal and everything would Today, however, the graphics did not revert back to normal. Everything stayed really big and fuzzy. I thought that since the driver that I downloaded from laptopvideo2go.com was not digitally signed, or whatever, that it was the problem. So, I went to the HP website and proceeded to download the original NVIDA update (98.15), that I had previously, for my driver.
It installed like normal until it got halfway in the installation loading bar. Then, my computer suddenly restarted itself and said that Windows did not start correctly and gave me the option to run some repair thing. I did, and it couldn't fix anything. So, I restarted again and got the same thing and went into safe mode and uninstalled my driver. Then, I updated the driver with the same 98.15 update and it worked and told me that I needed to restart. So I did and I got the "Windows did not start correctly" message again and I went into safe mode. The driver had not installed and everything was still big and fuzzy. However, the driver was still deleted. So, I restarted again, got the same message, and went into "Last known good configuration" mode, which I am in now. And, of course, the display is still really big and fuzzy. if you select the start normally option instead of the repair option, it will proceed to load with the Windows loading bar but will do that automatic restart thing before it gets to the Windows Vista logo every time. So, it's like a never-ending loop of restarts. I did some research online and I found out nothing, so I guess that my problem is unique. I'd really like to have my computer's original crystal-clear graphics back, but right now the priority is actually getting it to log on.

Apr 12, 2008I installed the game earlier and then got a dll error when I tried to start the game so I did a quick search of the net and found a fix (install latest DirectX 9, it runs longside DirectX 9) The game then started, in the main menu I noticed some white flickering and when I started the actual game there was just major graphical corruption everywhere, it was unplayable. I am using the 174 nvidia drivers, here are my specs:-.... I just can't figure it out. Has anybody else got this game running fine on Vista Ultimate 64?.

Jun 13, 2009I took the card from my parent 4 year old HP and installed it on my computer. Windows Vista installed the correct drivers and says ready to use. I'm not using it for cable, but I am using it for hooking video game systems like the Wii and X Box. Apr 30, 2008I have been having trouble with my computer sleeping. I had just upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit from Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit. In 32 bit, sleep worked fine and there were no issues with sleep. I installed 64 bit to (mostly) take advantage of all 4 gb of my RAM. Now, I have all the latest drivers and everything is *almost* back to normal (sleep and TV tuner (Aver Volar) don't work). Now some of the sleep options in the control panel's power sleep applet are gone and when I make my compuer go into sleep, my computer will always resume with corrupt video (very many white lines all over the screen) and corrupt sound/audio (static sounding).

Feb 7, 2009I have been Googling for the past few days trying to find information about how to use a Vista Ultimate PC as a DVR. Specifically, I want to make it a dual-tuner over-the-air ATSC (DTV) DVR my ancient VCR. So far, the only TV tuner card I have found that mentions the ability to play back to a TV set is the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-350 card, but it appears to be a single-tuner NTSC card. I need a dual-tuner ATSC so that I can record two DTV broadcasts over the air at the same time.
Either an internal card or USB device is fine. Is anyone out there doing this with a dual-tuner card or USB that can play back the recorded show to an HDTV? Apostrophes: when in doubt, leave them out! You will be correct more often

Media Center And Analog TV Tuner
Jan 22, 2009I have a problem with a TV Tuner and Media Center. (My specs are detailed in my profile.) I have an Asus My Cinema PE9400 Combo card that has both analog and HD hardware encoders. OTA HD works great through Media Center, but analog has a terrible picture and stutters quite badly. This even happens when I record (without watching) and playback later. As a result of my troubleshooting, I have found that the issue isn't the card, but Media Center itself.
I installed TotalMedia (provided with the Asus tuner card) and all forms of broadcast work great. HD OTA, Analog OTA and DirecTV s-video input all have a flawless picture and no stuttering. Is there anyone that can help? I like Media Center and would like to continue using it, but the stuttering is just not worth it. Are there any utilities I can run to find out where the conflict is? Why does MC have the problem, but not other apps?

Sep 23, 2008I would like to use my Vista Media Center as a DVR using a Media Extender. I have digital cable (Comcast). I would be using it just to watch recorded shows on my HDTV using a Media Extender and would not be watching TV on my PC. I want a HDTV tuner card that will record programs from my digital cable using Media Center Software, not proprietary software. Any HDTV tuner cards fit this bill? Can be PCI or USB cards (my PCIe is taken by my graphics card.).

Nov 9, 2008I have an HP m9000t desktop that is running on vista home premium service pack 1. Ever since I got this PC my TV tuner has not been working properly. I have a ATSC-NTSC TV tuner with PVR, FM tuner installed. So basically this is my issue. I purchased a 4 prong splitter to split my cable input to my pc and cable box. My provider is time warner cable. After setting up my TV Signal in Windows Media Center it seems to be setup correctly until I try to watch live TV. The channels are all messed up. It seems like I only have about 20 channels, some are local channels and some are cable channels but nothing matches correctly.
I also tried connecting my cable out from my cable box directly into my PC. This works better than a direct connection from the splitter but it only shows what I am watching on my cable box, so if i change the channel on my cable box it changes on my pc. And if I change the cannel on my PC everything is scrambled, so it has to be on chan 3. Can this just be an issue with my provider? Do I need a "setup box"? If so how much are they and will it definiely solve my issue?
