View 4 Replieslet me start this nightmare story i had just done a fresh restalled and spent hours on getting everything installed on pc all was fine working perfectly untill that is i installed vista service pack 1 from windows updates the update process crashed halfway through so i had the only option to restart my pc then came the blue screen of death and it metioned if you have any new hardware installed make sure all drivers are installed etc etc of course i know it wasnt hardware it was because of me restating my pc half way threw the service pack 1 and the full files not been installed threw the update process crashed was the reason for the blue screen but the blue screen had notes advising me to clear shadow memory in the bois and any other memory so i stupidly assumed this was channel mapping and bank mapping and put them all to zero please see jpeg of what i changed i basically disabled everything that was enabled and put all the mapping channels and bank channels to zero and now when i switch on my laptop i get a blank screen with no post no ...........

I have a Samsung 2253LW wide screen monitor and the highest resolution i can get is an appauling 1280x960. I just took my computer for repair to get a new GFX card and in there shop with my comp running through an old school CRT 15inch monitor i can get a resolution of 1600x1200. As soon as i plug it back into my Samsung at home it can only reach 1280x960 againb. I have contacted Samsung and they are useless as usual. I have the latest Samsung and Nvidia drivers installed.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe recently set up my husband's E1705 (with Vista), instead of my older and slower (painfully slow at times) 1150 (with XP). I installed the 'drivers and utilities' software from CD onto the 1705. After many attempts with no printing, I now see that neither the printer nor our digital camera are on the 'compatible' list for Vista. Is there anything that we can do so that we don't have to use my computer exclusively when we want to print or upload digital pics?
View 4 Replies View Relatedever since planning on a new pc build i knew at some point that id want to install vista on it. Ive planned to get vista 64 seeing as i have a machine capable of running a 64 bit o/s with ease (when i buy my extra 2gb of ram along with my copy of vista) I have been doing my research on which of my games ill still be able to play & tbh the only ones that im remotely worried about are older than red orchestra so no problems there.
My only real concern is the drivers for my belkin wireless card (f5d7001uk) which doesnt have any vista 32 drivers! But ive heard a rumour that vista automatically installs the drivers itself?? Im also worried that some of the useful little apps i have installed wont install such as winrar, wavepad, deepburner pro 1.8 & punkbuster
While being satisfied by the cool effects and new interface of Windows Vista Codename Longhorn, many of us testers are what you would call "gamers." The lot of us would like to know if gaming on the default Vista Supplemental drivers would mean loss of graphics quality compared to using up to date drivers on a XP OS. For example, I installed Vista and then installed my trusty game, Battlefield 2. I tried using the new nvidia Vista drivers but the game kept crashing when I start it up. So I reinstalled the Vista Supplemental drivers and it happened to work. Quite interesting. I am able to run the game on default vista drivers and not the nvidia vista drivers. Coming to conclusion, would using the vista drivers result in loss of quality and graphics compared to using up to date drivers on a XP system? Or you can also rephrase it; Would gaming be better on the Vista Beta or XP? Does anyone know if SLI works on Vista?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI took the card from my parent 4 year old HP and installed it on my computer. Windows Vista installed the correct drivers and says ready to use. I'm not using it for cable, but I am using it for hooking video game systems like the Wii and X Box. Windows Media Center tries to use it for cable but it doesn't set up correctly because it can't detect anything. Is there a way to use the tuner card for other inputs rather then just cable?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been having trouble with my computer sleeping. I had just upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit from Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit. In 32 bit, sleep worked fine and there were no issues with sleep. I installed 64 bit to (mostly) take advantage of all 4 gb of my RAM. Now, I have all the latest drivers and everything is *almost* back to normal (sleep and TV tuner (Aver Volar) don't work). Now some of the sleep options in the control panel's power sleep applet are gone and when I make my compuer go into sleep, my computer will always resume with corrupt video (very many white lines all over the screen) and corrupt sound/audio (static sounding).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been Googling for the past few days trying to find information about how to use a Vista Ultimate PC as a DVR. Specifically, I want to make it a dual-tuner over-the-air ATSC (DTV) DVR my ancient VCR. So far, the only TV tuner card I have found that mentions the ability to play back to a TV set is the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-350 card, but it appears to be a single-tuner NTSC card. I need a dual-tuner ATSC so that I can record two DTV broadcasts over the air at the same time.
Either an internal card or USB device is fine. Is anyone out there doing this with a dual-tuner card or USB that can play back the recorded show to an HDTV? Apostrophes: when in doubt, leave them out! You will be correct more often
than not.
Its = Belonging to it. For example, "Look at the sky. Its color is blue."
It's = It is. For example, "It's hot today."
It's = It has. For example, "It's been nice talking to you."
Its' = completely incorrect usage. Stop it!
I have a problem with a TV Tuner and Media Center. (My specs are detailed in my profile.) I have an Asus My Cinema PE9400 Combo card that has both analog and HD hardware encoders. OTA HD works great through Media Center, but analog has a terrible picture and stutters quite badly. This even happens when I record (without watching) and playback later. As a result of my troubleshooting, I have found that the issue isn't the card, but Media Center itself.
I installed TotalMedia (provided with the Asus tuner card) and all forms of broadcast work great. HD OTA, Analog OTA and DirecTV s-video input all have a flawless picture and no stuttering. Is there anyone that can help? I like Media Center and would like to continue using it, but the stuttering is just not worth it. Are there any utilities I can run to find out where the conflict is? Why does MC have the problem, but not other apps?
I was wondering what the best value for money tv tuner? And If you can, list some of the major channels recieved.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like to use my Vista Media Center as a DVR using a Media Extender. I have digital cable (Comcast). I would be using it just to watch recorded shows on my HDTV using a Media Extender and would not be watching TV on my PC. I want a HDTV tuner card that will record programs from my digital cable using Media Center Software, not proprietary software. Any HDTV tuner cards fit this bill? Can be PCI or USB cards (my PCIe is taken by my graphics card.).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HP m9000t desktop that is running on vista home premium service pack 1. Ever since I got this PC my TV tuner has not been working properly. I have a ATSC-NTSC TV tuner with PVR, FM tuner installed. So basically this is my issue. I purchased a 4 prong splitter to split my cable input to my pc and cable box. My provider is time warner cable. After setting up my TV Signal in Windows Media Center it seems to be setup correctly until I try to watch live TV. The channels are all messed up. It seems like I only have about 20 channels, some are local channels and some are cable channels but nothing matches correctly.
I also tried connecting my cable out from my cable box directly into my PC. This works better than a direct connection from the splitter but it only shows what I am watching on my cable box, so if i change the channel on my cable box it changes on my pc. And if I change the cannel on my PC everything is scrambled, so it has to be on chan 3. Can this just be an issue with my provider? Do I need a "setup box"? If so how much are they and will it definiely solve my issue?
I bought a Compro Videomate Vista E700 tv tuner and plugged it in and it cant find any channels, even when it is plugged into an aerial on the roof.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy vista keeps locking up after various amounts of time, no matter whether its just idling, or im making the computer work hard. As ive read on other topics, I think its a driver issue, but I just dont know what to do. I will try another fresh vista install tomorrow and get the vista updates quickly to see whether that helps the situation. I have ensured it isnt overheating like it did initially when I bought the system, and it is now a safe and low temperature in a running state. Also, it only detects 3.5Gb of the 4Gb of RAM I have in my system. PC Spec:
Ive re-installed, windows, and it froze after I installed the chipset driver. I contiuned, and found a sound driver wasnt digitally signed. However it still crashes. I have got the latest drivers for it. For it to crash, all i did was open recycle bin, from idle state.
I shouldn't be surprised but here goes....I checked today for SP1 on windows update.. According to my computer no updates available however updates were last installed on 03/13/08 and yet when you look at installed updates it shows a windows defender update installed today.
