I learnt from this forum that Vista comes with Directx 10 included. Great - however I tried to install a PC game for my son (Playstation Castaways) and it keeps complaining that none of the Direct x 9 drivers are installed and it cant continue.
let me start this nightmare story i had just done a fresh restalled and spent hours on getting everything installed on pc all was fine working perfectly untill that is i installed vista service pack 1 from windows updates the update process crashed halfway through so i had the only option to restart my pc then came the blue screen of death and it metioned if you have any new hardware installed make sure all drivers are installed etc etc of course i know it wasnt hardware it was because of me restating my pc half way threw the service pack 1 and the full files not been installed threw the update process crashed was the reason for the blue screen but the blue screen had notes advising me to clear shadow memory in the bois and any other memory so i stupidly assumed this was channel mapping and bank mapping and put them all to zero please see jpeg of what i changed i basically disabled everything that was enabled and put all the mapping channels and bank channels to zero and now when i switch on my laptop i get a blank screen with no post no ...........
i bought new devices and started built new pc from scratch..installed the drivers, installed vista home prenium 32-bit but i get too many crashes..Down i show u one of them that i get from one game
my computer used to see(recognize) my memory (SD)cards before, then it just stopped one faithful day.actually i have this software that on activation,it tells me the drivers my computer needs.and ever since i downloaded and installed this drivers it has stopped working(my SD card reader).
when i check device manager the SD memory card shows this yellow marking on it and when i double-click on it,it tells me ,THIS DEVICE CANNOT START(CODE10).i have tried uninstalling,i have even tried upgrading, but none of them worked. i use a Dell laptop,VOSTRO1510.
I have a Samsung 2253LW wide screen monitor and the highest resolution i can get is an appauling 1280x960. I just took my computer for repair to get a new GFX card and in there shop with my comp running through an old school CRT 15inch monitor i can get a resolution of 1600x1200. As soon as i plug it back into my Samsung at home it can only reach 1280x960 againb. I have contacted Samsung and they are useless as usual. I have the latest Samsung and Nvidia drivers installed.
It take minutes to click on anything. I have installed my Motherboard drivers and my GPU drivers to little effect. What is additional steps I can take to speed it up. Is it worth downloading the updates. If I do that it will probably take all afternoon. Plus I'll have to log off this computer.
We recently set up my husband's E1705 (with Vista), instead of my older and slower (painfully slow at times) 1150 (with XP). I installed the 'drivers and utilities' software from CD onto the 1705. After many attempts with no printing, I now see that neither the printer nor our digital camera are on the 'compatible' list for Vista. Is there anything that we can do so that we don't have to use my computer exclusively when we want to print or upload digital pics?
ever since planning on a new pc build i knew at some point that id want to install vista on it. Ive planned to get vista 64 seeing as i have a machine capable of running a 64 bit o/s with ease (when i buy my extra 2gb of ram along with my copy of vista) I have been doing my research on which of my games ill still be able to play & tbh the only ones that im remotely worried about are older than red orchestra so no problems there.
My only real concern is the drivers for my belkin wireless card (f5d7001uk) which doesnt have any vista 32 drivers! But ive heard a rumour that vista automatically installs the drivers itself?? Im also worried that some of the useful little apps i have installed wont install such as winrar, wavepad, deepburner pro 1.8 & punkbuster
While being satisfied by the cool effects and new interface of Windows Vista Codename Longhorn, many of us testers are what you would call "gamers." The lot of us would like to know if gaming on the default Vista Supplemental drivers would mean loss of graphics quality compared to using up to date drivers on a XP OS. For example, I installed Vista and then installed my trusty game, Battlefield 2. I tried using the new nvidia Vista drivers but the game kept crashing when I start it up. So I reinstalled the Vista Supplemental drivers and it happened to work. Quite interesting. I am able to run the game on default vista drivers and not the nvidia vista drivers. Coming to conclusion, would using the vista drivers result in loss of quality and graphics compared to using up to date drivers on a XP system? Or you can also rephrase it; Would gaming be better on the Vista Beta or XP? Does anyone know if SLI works on Vista?
Can i buy a vc with directx10 even though my pc says im running a 9? i have vista and thought it was 10 ready. also noticed the newer cards are rated gddr2,3,4 and so on - are these numbers in reference to the ram i am currently running and have to match? i have sddr2 i believe so am i limited to a gddr2 card? mb has pci x16 and am currently running a sapphire ati 5500 and definately need an upgrade but illiterate to most of the terms - i dont want to buy something i couldnt use
I am having issues with Direct x 10, everytime i try to run a game.exe it runs in Direct x 9.0c, now ive downloaded the latest forceware drivers for my card, tried to run it in administrator mode and everytime i right click a game.exe vista does not show run in direct x 9 or 10.exe's. I have also tried to clean my graphics card drivers in safe mode, downloading EVGA drivers afterwards, this still does not work. In dxdiag it also says im running in Direct x 10.
I have a question, i installed a 32 bit ver of windows on the system by mistake then formatted the HDD and installed vista 64x would this have anything to do with the issue im having? (most of my files are moved to program files x86). Oh and one more crucial thing, ive tried to update Direct X 10 on their website, the update just installs 9.0c because im on sp1, i have also tried to update to sp2, the same problems occurred, did a fresh format back onto SP1.
I could not find this post elsewhere, but I can't get my directdraw to enable or mess with my hardware acceleration. Its just not active...any suggestions would be great. Latest Drivers Wiped and reinstalled all around. Regedit timeout is at 7.
I downloaded and loaded the latest, and older, drivers from both Nvidia and EVGA, my card manufacturer. Non of which has fixed the issue. Everything reads fine, as to the correct versions, but it always remains with the same problems. Are there some sort of special privileges that I am missing, or possibly an included program with my card that controls these functions instead of windows? I have installed everything I can find from the Card Manufacturer and chip Manufacturer, I have updated my board bios to the latest and so on, but nothing seems to make ANY difference.
when Vista first came out I found out that you couldnt record any direct sound like you can in XP. I was just wondering if there was been any fixes/work-arounds out recently?
The new Network and Sharing Center in Windows Vista is great for the average Windows user but can be a huge headache for advanced users. When I need to make a change to my network settings I don't want to be forced to go through the networking interface for the average non-technical users. I want to go right to the settings screen and make the change.Â
I am a big fan of the old Windows XP network approach where I could modify all of the network settings and connect to wireless network from the Network Connections screen. In Windows Vista, the Network Connections screen still exists, as shown above, but you have to go through the Network and Sharing Center screen first. Using a very useful explorer trick I discovered when playing with "::" and explorer class IDs, you can create a shortcut that will take you directly to the Network Connections screen.
Right click on the desktop and select New and then Shortcut.
In the location box, copy and paste explorer.exe ::{7007ACC7-3202-11D1-AAD2-00805FC1270E} and hit Next....

HP deskjet OK direct connection by not via network share permalink. I have a HP deskjet 5550 printer connected to a XP pro (32 bit), it is shared. I have no problem using this shared printer either from the local XP machine or another XP machine. I had no problem using the share when I have Vista Ultimate 32 bit installed. However the Vista Ultimate 64 bit gives an error stating the server does not have the correct drivers, and requests that I supply and inf file. Searching the HP web site they state the vista already has the drivers. I connect direct using a USB cable and can print without issue. Even after that no luck connecting via a share.
I bought a laptop last year that came with Vista Home Premium 32 bit...I am not at all computer savvy, but bought some recording software called Audiogram that is supposed to be the equivalent of Garage Band that comes on a Mac. However, I have never been able to make the recording program work! It acknowledges there could be some problems with Vista, but ultimately it should work. The latest message I get when I open the recording software is "The currently installed soundcard driver does not support Direct Sound Input. Recording audio is not possible." What do I do? I can't return the recording oftware because I registered it, plus it's been months that I've been reading/downloading updates thinking I could get it to work. I've been told by several people that vista has soundcard problems.
I enter the Tiger Direct sweepstakes and the Lost Treasure sweepstakes. There is a second step to each sweepstakes. You receive an email from each and reply to complete the entry. For the last week I haven't received an email from either to complete the contest.I checked the spam filtered mail from Comcast.
My vista keeps locking up after various amounts of time, no matter whether its just idling, or im making the computer work hard. As ive read on other topics, I think its a driver issue, but I just dont know what to do. I will try another fresh vista install tomorrow and get the vista updates quickly to see whether that helps the situation. I have ensured it isnt overheating like it did initially when I bought the system, and it is now a safe and low temperature in a running state. Also, it only detects 3.5Gb of the 4Gb of RAM I have in my system. PC Spec:
Ive re-installed, windows, and it froze after I installed the chipset driver. I contiuned, and found a sound driver wasnt digitally signed. However it still crashes. I have got the latest drivers for it. For it to crash, all i did was open recycle bin, from idle state.
I shouldn't be surprised but here goes....I checked today for SP1 on windows update.. According to my computer no updates available however updates were last installed on 03/13/08 and yet when you look at installed updates it shows a windows defender update installed today. I have been reading several posts on this problem and have noticed that Carey Frisch posted a link to troubleshoot and now here is a problem and that is none of these apply to me... Once again Go figure!! Running Vista Business 32bit here in the good old USA and of course the English versionVista is and has always been updated right on schedule....
im currently using the 180.48 drivers for my 9600m video card and found this one 176.47 driver,a mobile dedicated release including my card, but an older date version... can someone tell me which one should i use?
I have an HP Pavilion tx1000, and I had Vista Home Basic on it. I reinstalled it and put XP on it, but now I don't have any of the drivers and don't even know what Video Controller I need or what Graphics Card I have. Also Missing SMBus and Coprocessor.
There were some problems with drivers of a webcam I bought some weeks ago, but it wasn't serious, because I have the webcam of my lap. I don't know if this is related to using vista x64, but when I use Flip 3D, Live Messenger conversation windows don't appear in Flip, instead they appear in the background. I don't know if this is caused by using Vista x64, maybe it's a problem with Messenger.
This is my question: I'd like to try Vista Ultimate x86, and, as I have a machine with 2GB of RAM, could I experience any kind of troubles (in performance) using Vista x86 in my laptop? I'd like to know what kind of stuff I could lose because of moving from Vista x64 to Vista x86... maybe DEP? What else could I lose?
By the way, I use these programs frequently: VMware Workstation 6.5, Visual Studio 2008, MS Office 2007, SQL Server 2005... and other common programs (like WinZip, Adobe Reader, Live Messenger 9, etc). I don't use other programs (like Photoshop, intensive games or the like), and I have usually open, for example, VMware, WMP11 with Visual Studio at the same time.
Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run. The problem code is 24.

if xp can be used instad of vista in a laptop that says " designed for vista"? Iwas told in best buy that such thing would slow the laptop and make it not working properly, because the drivers in xp are out of date... how about if i find the drivers for the laptop and instal them seperatedly with xp? ANd another q: can i make partitions in vista before installing xp( eventually)? and how?
I have a new desktop that is compatible with Vista 64 bit. That would give me the use of the 8 GB of ram. Two questions:
(1) Where can I get the drivers that would be needed for my computer to run the 64 bit version? I haven't started the machine yet, but would run it a while with the 32 bit version. I assume I would download the drivers, then install the 64 bit version.
(2) Is it correct that any programs or hardware compatible with the 32 bit version will run with the 64 bit version, even though there will not necessarily be any improvement in performance?
Have a new SonyZ laptop with Vista Business installed. It is clashing with almost everything I've tried to load. Main problem is trying to connect to an external monitor: Viewsonic VA1912w. I cannot find any drivers which will let this happen. Earlier posts (some time ago) suggest that the connection was not possible but was expected to be feasible in the near future ie it should be available now.
I upgraded to Vista a while back, and since then I can not access my webcam. The only option is to uninstall it. I have downloaded all drivers, but I still can't access it. It is a built in webcam for HP Pavilion dv2000. This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
