I have Vista 32 bit,intel core2 duo t7250 processor,3gb ram,nvidia 8600m dell xps 1530 laptop. My friend also has ame lappy. His system works perfectly fine, but my system is too slow.There is lag in simple operations also like there in a lag of 1-3 seconds in opening folders,it always takes to load/show all data in the folders. This problem is still persists even after i have disabled all unneccesary stuffs.
View 7 Replieswhy does vista load so slow for me? here is my pc. my pc is less then 2wks old i did all the installing myself and what not. and on start up all that is loading for me is the gargets, and steam and my logitech stuff (for my g15 keyboard and g5 mouse) this computer has no shortage of power and what not so why does it take on average 5plus minutes to load??? all of my programs load blistering fast expect loading og vista~ everything all the parts are purchased from ncix and is brand new! and all most top of the line pc and why must i wait longer for vista then i ever did for xp?

View 6 Replies View Relatedi have 2 fast efficient computers....one using vista ultimate 64 bit, one using xp home premium..... we have fast broadband....i have a problem on both computers that my Internet channel has blank thumbnails....then they load up very slowly.....up to 2-5 minutes.....sometimes no picture....just a red cross & title on thumbnail....i cannot play video until all thumbnails are loaded. playing video is fine ...no problems viewing in hi def... no problems if i play from another link....but my channel loads chronically slow this also happens on some other websites but Internet is chronic on both computers.....using ie8 or firefox...yet my slow dog of a computer at work running xp works fine on my Internet channel. i tried compatability mode but makes no difference..

I have names of those I sent to often, and then I have sub-folders, i.e., family, friend, business, etc. But when I go to send a message and try to select the people I want to send to "ALL" of the name I have in both the list and those in the subfolders all show up on the list. Is there anyway I can get the ones in the sub-folders not to show up. Like I was able to do in OE.

When I use the Folder Options dialog to change the options to show hidden files or system files, the change is applied in the file pane but not in the folder pane. To get it to apply there I have to close Explorer and restart it. Is there a way to get this to work right?

1 - 495 G - 1 G Taken
2 - 232 G - 58.3 G Taken (my OS is on it)
And one external, which is disconnected for the time of the scans. You can tell me what to run to show you the exact memory, if you wish.
I'm running a laptop with Vista Home Premium, and just recently some of my folders like My Computer and other various folders are opening yet show a blank window, like literally blank. There's not even a URL there, just a blank window. I played around with some registry values (which I shouldn't have) and I believe that's the cause of this problem. Also, when i try to delete some of the files inside folders that manage to open before they crash, the delete prompt stalls at 0. Explorer.exe also seems to have multiple holds on single processes. how get my comp back to shape! (Ps. Did like 3 system restores and a virus scan with no results)
View 8 Replies View RelatedVista Home Prem 32bit..... I used the "search" feature to look for something and the results displayed several Folders & Files I had deleted some time back. When I right clicked on these items that had been deleled...I got the message, The item cannot be found.....make sure the Folder exists....check that the path is correct.....Or similar words. I would expect to see the message appear appear because the items don't exist.....but why did the search display them? Is there a way to clean emove them so they don't show up on future Searches?

Since the Programs menu (classic start menu setup) looks like an overflowing junk room after everything gets installed, I made it tidier by getting rid of some shortcuts that weren't needed and organizing others in easy to manage category folders. I was able to create all the folders I needed in ...All Users...Start MenuPrograms, but a folder named "Programs" doesn't show up among the other folders when I go to Start > Programs. Since I've never had any problems before with a sub folder by the same name as the folder above it in hierarchy, I'm thinking this might be a bug. When I check with Windows Explorer, the ...All Users...Start MenuProgramsPrograms folder is there along with all the shortcuts that have been put in it, but it's just not showing up on the Start menu. All the other folders I created such as Utilities, Graphics, Multimedia and Internet do show in Start > Programs along with all the shortcuts I put in them.

When i syncronize the offline files it's very very slow. for a short file or folder the synchro make 1 hour. I have another laptop with Win XP Pro SP3 on the same domain, i use the offline files and it's word well. View 4 Replies View RelatedI've searched the web extensively, though I came close, I still can't solve my problem: When I've installed vista, the installation have set the boot manager to be on a different disk than the the boot loader. Now, if I want to remove the hard drive containing the boot manager, the system won't load, which is reasonable given these conditions, nonetheless I DO want to remove this hard drive and still be able to boot, therefore I've searched and queried everywhere and done the following: Physically disconnected the hard drive with the boot manager on it (d and boot with the Vista DVD to run startup repair -> this didn't help, the startup repair found the operation system but didn't recognize any problem, when trying to boot the system would not load, the error I'm getting when booting is disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi installed windows 7 it works great, and that's actually what i'm on now because vista wont load. so anyway, after having my laptop multi-boot with vista and windows 7 i was looking around the Microsoft website and relized that vista service pack 2 is out. i installed it it worked fine besides it was in classic mode and my personalization thing wouldn't load, (i know, i know, that's from vistaglazz) so i decided to restore my laptop to before i downloaded service pack 2. now that worked all fine and my old theme was back, i unpatched the theme things by putting the original .dll's and other files back. so now i thought i could try to install service pack 2 without a problem now, wrong. it did the same classic view and the personalization crashing stuff, so once again i tried to restore my laptop to before i downloaded service pack 2, it worked all fine until i went to start my laptop back up. it just stopped right before you have to type in your password to log into vista and says "please wait..." then after like a minute or two the screen goes black with a little underscore in the top left hand corner of the screen. then goes to the "please wait..." message again. i thought "Oh maybe i can just restart my laptop and it will be fine, nope. i restarted it a few times and it did the same thing, but i have no problem loading into windows 7. so back to the point. (: after all that stuff i decided to leave my laptop like that for a bit of time to see if it finally loads, so i left it from 11pm to 4pm. When i went to look at it, it still was doing the same thing, i tried all the safe start, safe start with network, safe start with command promp, and repair your computer options. All of them lead to the same thing, this is really getting frustrating.

I recently bought a laptop, and guessed I'd sort out a network with the existing comp (how hard can it be?) I have internet access on main PC (Cat V wired), and laptop (wireless), but when I open network and sharing centre to try to access "the other" comp, the network won't show the other comp. From my laptop I have "laptop"(This Computer) - "Office" - "Internet". When I click on "Office" to show the network I get a list with "laptop", Siemens SE572 Wireless Router & Orb: Office. The first 2 listings are correct, but Orb: Office isn't, and it also shows as a Windows Media Player, I've tried everything I can think of but can't get rid of the "Orb: Office", which seems to be stopping my PC and laptop talking to each other. If I haven't bored you to death by now, as I'm gonna quickly get sick of having to drop everything onto a memory stick, and transferring to main pc to print etc.

I don't know where the drivers are though, should I try repair without any, find them (with your help if you know where they are) or install Vista again (will all my files still be there?)

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new HP Pavilion desktop and the first two days it gave me blue screens of death. Subsequently I had an expert look at the .dmp files and Windows/System logs that show the unrecoverable events and he said that it clearly shows a -hardware -problem and that I should tell HP and get a new computer. (I have had it just 4 days longer than Best Buy's return policy was in effect because I did not figure out how serious the problem was until 2 days ago. I had been thinking it was just a conflict with my monitor or something but this guy says the .dmp files show that it is a memory or processor problem and cannot be fixed.)
I spent 3 and 1/2 hours online in a chat session with an IDIOT supervisor in India and he did not fully understand the problem and kept preaching "System Restore". I kept saying that -System Restore will not fix a Hardware problem- so there was no point to it. He finally came up with this: "sir, the processor sends some IRQ requests etc to other hardware devices, and the log suggests me that theres a conflick in such IRQ requests." Even so, how is System Restore going to FIX a hardware problem that already exists???..........
I have just recently done a full wipe of my hard-drive with Windows Vista x32 'Ultimate' on it and came across this issue in reguards of my 'RAM (Memory)' being lower than what it shows when I boot my computer up. View 9 Replies View RelatedMy home PC, running Vista and wired to the network, drops momentarily from my home network and looses the connection to the network printer. Usually happens when I click a link to a new page. An error comes up saying something like "page unavailable". I hit "refresh" and the page loads. I can sit at the PC and watch the network Icon in the system tray show up with a "red X" and then the red x disappears. The interesting thing is that my two laptops run wirelessly and wired to the network with out an issue. I am guessing it has to be something with the settings off myPC ethernet card? I tried updating drivers, but no new driver was available.

Besides, this policy also was discouraged by the helpfiles that came with the system. Virusprotection was not done by the system, so advisable to install a virusprotection tool. I read a lot on the net on that item and finally installed Avast antivirus.
So far so good. Had no troubles from oktober 07 till a week ago. Than I decided to destall Avast and to install One Live one care. The critics did not take me to this. But I think it is a good policy to have the safety issues in the same hand as the system resources are. I take another step and expect the safety cause covered in the system itself. Sell a new car without safety features! I installed the One care, I did want to give it my support, I did not expect it to be bad at all................
start > programs > accessories > system tools > system restore, or from desktop shortcut created from same entry, When opening system restore, it takes, by the clock, almost 3 minutes to open. Also happens in safe mode. That which I have tried: sfc /scannow
Tested ram with MemTest86 for > 8hr; passed. Tested HDD with HDD [ WD SATA; 160 GB ] diags; passed. I am helping a friend, who said the laptop, HP Pavillion dv6245 was slow. I uninstalled Ad Aware 2008. Now, the only slowness I have been able to uncover is opening the system restore interface.
i use spybot s&d, and malwarebytes, the free versions on my laptop,it's been playing up lately like very slow at times,i've heard that ms security essentials is compatable with malwarebytes so i was wondering if it might be worth getting rid of spybot and installing ms security,does any body know if i might be doing the right thing,i also have windows defender but i've heard msse automaticly disables this feature and takes over,i'm on windows vista ultimate 64 bit. The the only difference I can see that could be affecting it is that at home I use wifi to connect to the internet. I'm always connected to the internet. At work there is no wifi, and not connected to the internet. Could it be trying to do something online, but since it cant connect, keep trying and trying and trying slowing everything down? To fix it I have to restart it. This seems to do the job, however I'd rather not have to do this every time. At home this never happens. I never have to restart it to get it to move faster. And this happens EVERY TIME at work.
