When writing an email, clicking on insert drops down various choices, but Signature & Business card are grayed out. Does anyone know how to use this feature? It was easy to set up in Outlook Express.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that everything under the HP printer's properties is grayed out and so I cannot change anything. I thought ownership/privileges could be the cause of my not being able to print from this test VISTA machine over my LAN to the HP AIO printer which is connected directly via USB on my XP machine. But I can't change anything - I notice other things (e.g. share name) are grayed out also preventing change. At the very least I want to be able to regain control of all this. Remember - I can print in reverse over my LAN (using another printer). That is, from my XP machine to the EPSON printer connected to this test VISTA machine. I seem to be able to access and change files/folders at will from each machine to the other - so I feel I must have my LAN set up at least nearly correctly. Yes, I have turned User Account Control off.

The policy registry entries in both HKLM and HKCU don't exist. A simple log out/log in typically restores them, but is usually too much of a nuisance to bother doing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMS Vista Home Premium I am trying to use MS paint and the 'A' tool on the tool bar is grayed out and not clickable. Do I have to pay to use this tool? Also if I go to view the 'Text Toolbar' option is checked but again it is grayed out. I am no expert on windows but I thought paint was included with the OS. PS Don't bother telling me that some other program is better, I just need to plan my flower garden and MS paint is fine for that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI know this is a Vista forum, but I do not see any Windows 7 forums. This has carried through a number of recent builds of Win7 and now is in the RC, 7100 build. Not sure if this is a change in functionality or a bug. If you want to copy the profile of a local user, you can login to the PC (Vista and earlier) as the local Administrator, go to System Properties > User Profiles, choose a user's profile, then click the Copy To button to copy that profile to another profile. In Win7, the Copy To button is grayed out when you choose another user's profile. All you can choose from is Change Type or Delete.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi just bought LOGITECH x-530 5.1 Speaker system. when i go to "Realtek HD Audio manager" and choose "5.1 speaker" the "rear pair" is grayed out! Here is a picture; if i change it to 7.1. then the "rear pair" will appear and i will be able to preform the test and hear sound... B-U-T ---> when i will play movies.. (divx, mkx, bluray.. ect'...) i don't hear the people talking.. it's like the wrong sound configuration information goes to the speakers. it will seem the people talking coms from the sub-woofer.. and again really really dim... .+ the rear speakers will work but very low (even when i put it on full volume) . any idea how to set up correctly the sound ? so even if i am on 7.1. the sound will go to the speakers as 5.1 and send the right information to each speaker?

We replaced it with a 2008 SBS & since most of the clients were XP, I was able to join computers to the new domain & copy the profiles from the old location to the new location. That was until I got to the Vista laptop. On this computer, the profile shows as 'Unknown' & the 'copy to' option is grayed out.
I am currently copying the contents of the C:Usersusername folder to the C:Usersuser.newdomain folder. Will this be all I need? Is there an easier way? Also, under system properties>user profiles that Unknown profile shows to be 42.9 GB, but the folder I am copying is only 19.7 GB. Why such a huge difference?
I just built an HTPC wiith Vista64 SP1 and am having a problem. I have a DFI LanParty X58-T3H6 motherboard and a VisionTek Radeon HD 4870 Video card with HD audio. I have an HDMI cable going to my Sony AV receiver and all I get is Stereo Audio. The subwoofer never comes out of standby nor does the AV receiver indicate anything but a stereo input.
I have the RealTek HDMI audio device installed and it says it is working properly under Device Manager. Under properties all that is offered is Stereo speakers. Surround Sound is shown as an option but it is grayed out and not selectable. All drivers are up to date as of two days ago, and I have the on-board sound of the motherboard disabled in its BIOS.
Other HDMI devices, such as my XBOX 360, do surround sound through the Sony AV receiver. VisionTek support told me to install the HDMI RealTek driver, but that's all the help they've been able to give me.
I have been trying to insert a signature which includes a logo into messages for one of my e-mail accounts. No matter where I place the html file (built using Frontpage) holding the signature and graphic, the graphic will not show in the message. Just the horrible red 'x' below the text. couple of challenges:
1. Regarding standard text signature at the end of an e-mail: I set up
going through tools, options, signature and want it to appear at the end
of each originally created e-mail and the end of each reply or
forward...in Arial and font size of 10. Works fine when I create an
e-mail, but for a reply or a forward appears as Times New Roman.
Anything I can do to ensure always shows as Arial?
2. Regarding attachments received with an e-mail: often unable to open
when I click on. Someone suggested saving the attachment to the desk top
and then opening...generally works but a pain to save. Someone suggested
the problem is that I don't have full Microsoft Office suite on the
laptop just what came with it-Microsoft Works. Attachements being sent
are not unusual...generally Word, Excel, PDF or PowerPoint. Any
suggestion so that I don't have to save to desktop?
3. Last question...laptop came with a webcam, the workings of which I
am new to. Doesn't always open/work when I click on its icon...window
opens and says " please plug in a supported webcam". Sometimes when I
unplug from internet and reboot computer the webcam works.
I am getting this error...seems to occur pretty randomly. Just reinstalled Vista twice (clean). Each time going from clean install to Vista HP SP1. Error seems to change a bit each time.

I created a signature in windows mail and it is inserted in every mail and reply at the bottom of the mail. However, I always reply on top of a message so that the person who receives my reply doesn't need to scroll down to read the (latest) reply. Now, I have to move the signature from the bottom to the end of my reply, above the original message I received. Is there any way to insert the signature on top of a reply instead of at the bottom?

My email shows the code stuff instead of just the info and logo. I don't know what I did wrong. I deleted the first try and made the new HTM file using the same steps.

After instalation windows told me it did not have a digital signature so it would not be allowed to run. I tried to reinstall multiple times to no effect. The main thing is that I can not access my CCC ( Catalyst Control Center). Im running a out of the box Hp pavilion dv4 - 1222nr entertainment notebook pc. I have specs upon request. I am a moderately versed computer person, but can usually follow any well given directive. Now I am stuck with a problem after spending several hours on this issue. Every time I start a new message. I also cannot type anything in the email created when replying to these messages. I should note that he has Vista at work also on some of their computers including the one he uses and he has none of these issues. Is there a setting I need to change? I've searched the internet along with this site for a solution and haven't seen this particular problem. If need be I can send the email property details to show you.
