When I want to send an email, it tells me that the message won't be encrypted and that it doesn't have a digital signature for my outgoing mail or the recipient of my email. My question is this: how do I get this and is it necessary?
View 7 RepliesI recently updated my drivers for my video card (an integrated Ati Radeon Hd3200)off of Ati/Amd's website. After instalation windows told me it did not have a digital signature so it would not be allowed to run. I tried to reinstall multiple times to no effect. The main thing is that I can not access my CCC ( Catalyst Control Center). Im running a out of the box Hp pavilion dv4 - 1222nr entertainment notebook pc. I have specs upon request. Sorry im not a verygood speller.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition (download from Microsoft Dreamspark: https://www.dreamspark.com/Default.aspx) but every time, I get cab1.cab has an invalid Digital Signature.
This install of Vista was a completely clean install less than a month ago, but it has never been quite right, so I may do another clean install. Everything has been an argument with the computer, a battle of errors and solutions. If I knew the next clean install would be better, I would do one immediately.
I have searched the internet for about a month now, and have tried every solution I have found. I have checked that cab1.cab does indeed have a valid digital signature, it does, and so do all the others I have checked. This has happened with two downloads of the same file iso file. One of them has been tried and tested with this machine before the clean install and several other computers, all immediate successes, so it is not a corrupt iso file.
I have followed every solution on the two Heath Stewart blogs and several more.
I have:
Run sfc /scannow. No problems. Defragmented my hard disk. Copied the files to hard disk, run off DVD, run from iso, and repeated with other iso. Disabled all CRL checks using setreg.exe Downloaded the CRL list although my internet has been connected all the time. Done a System Restore, same problem. Used signtool.exe on cab1.cab and others, digital signature validated successfully. I am getting so annoyed now. I am a programmer, and have not written a single line of code for over a month now! Please do not tell me to use Notepad and csc.exe! I cannot even continue with Project Euler: Project Euler
If I thought that I would be able to uninstall it and not cause massive problems later, I would try Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2.
When starting 3rd party app there is a Windows popup warning about missing digiital signature certificate. Which Vista settings are responsible for that message? I need to disable it.

couple of challenges:
1. Regarding standard text signature at the end of an e-mail: I set up
going through tools, options, signature and want it to appear at the end
of each originally created e-mail and the end of each reply or
forward...in Arial and font size of 10. Works fine when I create an
e-mail, but for a reply or a forward appears as Times New Roman.
Anything I can do to ensure always shows as Arial?
2. Regarding attachments received with an e-mail: often unable to open
when I click on. Someone suggested saving the attachment to the desk top
and then opening...generally works but a pain to save. Someone suggested
the problem is that I don't have full Microsoft Office suite on the
laptop just what came with it-Microsoft Works. Attachements being sent
are not unusual...generally Word, Excel, PDF or PowerPoint. Any
suggestion so that I don't have to save to desktop?
3. Last question...laptop came with a webcam, the workings of which I
am new to. Doesn't always open/work when I click on its icon...window
opens and says " please plug in a supported webcam". Sometimes when I
unplug from internet and reboot computer the webcam works.

But when I transfer it to my windows mail the img src is empty. it just shows src"" in the source code of the email and my image is just a blank box with an x in the upper lefthand corner. What during the transfer from html file to signature is making the image source path disappear?

I have followed the help instructions as I wanted to change the font to another style, colour etc. However 'Help' tells you to format your signature in a WP package and save in html format. Easy, I thought! In Word 2007 when you try to Save As - the html option si not in the drop down menu. so i tried in Wordpad, no luck ther either. how I save to html in vista? I had no problems in W.XP. Wish I had not had to change!

If you send this message, it will be sent properly, but you will not be able to read it in your sent items folder. Send anyway? When Windows Mail is open, and I go to Tools> Options> Security> Digital IDs> Personal> nothing is there. Above this is a choice of Intended Purposes. I have selected ALL. If I click on the Import> Welcome to Certificate Import Wizard> Next> I am asked for a file name. I don't know the name of the file name. Alternatively, I can click the BROWSE button. Sound functions but reciever is only detecting 2 channel output. Apon browsing RealTekHD audio properites I discovered that the only options for Digital Output(RCA) were all 2-Channel under "Default Format" tab. However my front pannel Audio Output Jack(HD Audio 2nd Output) has an extra third tab labeled "Speaker Configuration" and has options for up to 7.1 surround but these settings do not impact my Digital Output(RCA) channel. Now my reciever does have a multi-channel input that could take advantage of the Analog Outputs in the rear but the distance is to great and multiple wires are expensive.

But now running vista I can only use one. Either I choose the analog output to be "standard" (then it has the green tick) or the digital output.. Only the one chosen works then. Is there any way to get both working simultainiously?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble getting clips to play using Windows Vista with Windows Media Player 11 via the UEFA.com site. I have tried following the FAQ on http://support.uefa.com and also contacted support to no avail. They mention reinstalling Windows Media Player 11, however, this is not possible in Vista as far as I know. I have also tried deleting the DRM folder. Unfortunately, this has not fixed the issue. Finally, the same clips play on my Windows XP Pro machine without any problems. What else could be wrong?

For those people in positions where privacy can mean the life or death of a career or even a person, listen up. "Computer scientists have discovered a novel way to bypass the encryption used in programs like Microsoft's BitLocker and Apple's FileVault and then view the contents of supposedly secure files.
In a paper (PDF) published Thursday that could prompt a rethinking of how to protect sensitive data, the researchers describe how they can extract the contents of a computer's memory and discover the secret encryption key used to scramble files. (I tested these claims by giving them a MacBook with FileVault; here's a slideshow.)
"There seems to be no easy remedy for these vulnerabilities," the researchers say. "Simple software changes are likely to be ineffective; hardware changes are possible but will require time and expense; and today's Trusted Computing technologies appear to be of little help because they cannot protect keys that are already in memory. The risk seems highest for laptops, which are often taken out in public in states that are vulnerable to our attacks. These risks imply that disk encryption on laptops may do less good than widely believed.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow can I confirm that BitLocker is indeed turned off? Microsoft provides the instructions below, but this is after it has been on. I see no BitLocker options under Control Panel, Scenario 5: Turning off BitLocker Drive Encryption Scenario 5 describes how to turn off BitLocker Drive Encryption and decrypt the volume. The procedure is the same for all BitLocker Drive Encryption configurations on TPM-equipped computers and computers without a compatible TPM. When you turn off BitLocker, you can choose to either disable BitLocker temporarily, or to decrypt the drive. Disabling BitLocker allows TPM changes and operating system upgrades. Decrypting the drive means that the volume will once again be readable, and that all the keys are discarded. Once a volume is decrypted, you must generate new keys by going through the encryption process again.
Before you start You must be logged on as an administrator. The drive must be encrypted. To turn off BitLocker Drive Encryption Click Start, click Control Panel, click Security, and then clickBitLocker Drive Encryption. From the BitLocker Drive Encryption screen, find the volume on which you want BitLocker Drive Encryption turned off, and click Turn Off BitLocker Drive Encryption. From the What level of decryption do you wantdialog box, click either Disable BitLocker Drive Encryption or Decrypt the volume as needed. By completing this procedure, you have decrypted the operating system volume.
Windows Vista includes a new hard drive encryption feature called BitLocker Drive Encryption. BitLocker can be a very useful security feature for businesses and home users that have sensitive and confidential information stored on their computer. Unfortunately, BitLocker Drive Encryption by default requires a Trusted Platform Module (TPM Chip) version 1.2 or later installed in your computer. A lot of the computers and laptops on the market do not come with TPM chips installed since they are typically only found in premium model business computers.  If you have Windows Vista Business, Ultimate or Enterprise but do not have a TPM chip, you can still use BitLocker Drive Encryption.
Hidden away in local group policy is a setting that will allow you to turn on the ability to use a USB storage device instead of a TPM key to store the encryption key. This is a great feature for users that don't have the latest high-end hardware because you can still use hard drive encryption. However, every time you turn on your computer, the USB storage device that has the encryption key located on it must be plugged in. Without it, your computer will not boot up.  One BitLocker Drive Encryption is setup with a USB storage device, that USB storage device basically becomes the key to your computer.
Follow these steps to turn on the ability to use a USB storage device with BitLocker Drive Encryption on hardware that does not have a TPM device:
Click on the Start Button and key in gpedit.msc and hit Enter....
My PC crashed, forcing a reload. I had stored some files in an encrypted folder on a separate partition. Like a bonehead, I didn't save the keys before the crash. Is there anyway I can get to the file contents?

When writing an email, clicking on insert drops down various choices, but Signature & Business card are grayed out. Does anyone know how to use this feature? It was easy to set up in Outlook Express.

However, I always reply on top of a message so that the person who receives my reply doesn't need to scroll down to read the (latest) reply. Now, I have to move the signature from the bottom to the end of my reply, above the original message I received. Is there any way to insert the signature on top of a reply instead of at the bottom?

My email shows the code stuff instead of just the info and logo. I don't know what I did wrong. I deleted the first try and made the new HTM file using the same steps.
