I set my home page tabs with no problem. Today I decided to add two tabs. Nothing works. I've even tried adding them via IP's. I've clicked on each tab, added the desired webpage, selected Add or Change Home Page and then checked "use the current tab set as your home page." I've also tried all other options. Only the original page is retained. What am I doing wrong?

When I installed Windows Vista I made MSN my home page. I was asked if I wanted to prevent change to my home page and I answered yes because very often certain web sites try to make themselves your home page. Now I want to change my home page to comcast.net but every time I reboot it goes back to MSN as my home page. I went to tools/internet options and changed my home page to Comcast and clicked apply but whenever I start IE8 it reverts back to MSN for my home page. How can I make it keep comcast as my home page?
I tried to a search on this particular issue, but did not find an identical problem. Every few days my home page get hijacked by MSN and a window comes up to download I.E 8 which I have already since last summer. Each time I change back to my home page and click on ask me later on the I.E. 8 popup because there is no other option. I did all the scans with Zone Alarm Extreme Security, ad-aware, S&D spybot, malwarebytes and CC cleaner.
Some virus changed my home page to an antivirus site and I used tools to change it back, But when I restarted the IExplorer, it again displayed the antivirus site. What can I do to fix this up? I do not want to re-install the operating system.
On installation of Vista on my Lenovo Laptop the homepage in IE was set to Lenovo, I have changed this to BBC/NEWS and set this to be the only homepage I want. However at least 2-3 times each day it reverts back to Lenovo homeppage, I then have to reset it back to BBC/News.
I am trying to set up a small network but having some difficulties – it does not work - I have done everything I think I should have done but still it does not work. OK what I have is two desktop machines DT (1) and DT(2) running XP Pro I think with SP2 – dont think I have SP3 and a nice four port O2 wirelessrouter which seems to be a Thomson Telecoms product and lovely new and shiny New Toshiba Tecra M10 running Vista Business. I am running ZoneAlarm as my firewall.
At the movement my main DT PC (1) is the only XP PC connected - obviously using Cat 5 cable and the Toshiba Laptop is also connected using Cat 5 cable. I did the XP set up a home network wizard and that seemed to be OK. I have set both the DT (1) and the LT to be on the same workgroup and on the DT (1) when I go to My Networks and then workgroup I can see (icons for) both the DT (1) and the LT.
I have multiple LARGE drives on the DT (1) and this is why I want the other DT (2) machine on the network to use as a fileserver – i have what must be close to a trillion pictures that i want to sort out - the work of a lifetime and a lifetimes work and i still have years of negatives to scan and sort I will then move all (apart from one) HDD’s to the second DT (2)............
How should I set up everything to it is reasonable secure? I have AVG on it, I am keeping UAC enabled. What about the accounts? Should I enable the Admin account and give it a password while his account is set up as a standard user?
When I open hotmail from windows live messenger, the page opens from an already open internet explorer web page + a new one with a message saying that the email address or password is incorrect. Does it happen to anyone else here?
Minor issue, but annoying Vista Home Premium, IE7. When I open a new tab I get the Blank Tab page. I have checked the Internet Tools item for Open Home Page instead of a Blank page, but no joy. How can I get a new tab to open to my home page.
after spending almost 30 min (yeah yeah I'm a newb or whatever you call people like me these days) trying to figure out how I can preview the tabs as thumbnails when I scroll my mouse over the task bar, I see that IF you have Vista Home Premium or better, you can change your Color and Appearance to Aero and then supposedly the option (under the Taskbar and Menu section in the Control Panel) for previewing tabs as thumbnails is supposed to be click-able... I have Windows Vista Home Premium, AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56, etc. ... I tried to change the color to Aero and it won't let me, so of course it won't let me preview the tabs as thumbnails either.
The strangest thing has happened in my excel 2007, running in vista 64. As of yesterday, it no longer displays the individual tabs for worksheets in a workbook of existing files. Any new blank file it will show the standard three tabs. Its not a problem with the file which when viewed in vista 32 or xp still shows the tabs. I've searched the ms knowledgebase and the web, but this appears to be a one of a kind. The "unhide" worksheet feature is greyed out in excel.
I had my IE7 configured to open several pages (tabs) when it starts up and everything was working fine until this morning, when IE8 keeps crashing repeatedly. This is the detail of the error reported by IE:

I am posting it to the Vista newsgroup since I suspect this is a Vista problem rather than an IE problem; let me know if that is not the case.
over the last couple of weeks Internet Explorer has decided to stop responding. Is this a general problem or am I the only one? I don't seem to be doing anything unusual when it happens. Sometimes simply switching tabs causes the freeze.
I turn on my computer today, and all of a sudden the minimized tabs for the programs I'm using are on the wrong side of the taskbar. They're on the right side, near the clock, rather than the left side by the start menu. They are also so small that I cannot read them, and if I have more than two they don't show up. I know it's a minor problem, but it's really annoying to me, and I can't figure out how to make them go to the way they were before.
Tools/Internet Options/General tab, click on Tab settings and re-enable this feature. If it is enabled already, uncheck the box, click apply/ok and then close all open browsers. Repeat to re-enable this feature.
When I surf with IE7 og have more than 7 tabs open at the same time, its like windows runs out of memory, all of a sudden I cant open any new tabs and right click on the touchpad does not react. If I then minimize IE7 and right click on the desktop nothing happens either. If I then close a couple of programs (its only Yahoo messenger og coreTemp that are running(coreTemp shows how warm your cpu is, and min is constantly between 56 og 64 degrees celsius)), then right click works again.
Usually when this happens I cant even get the taskmanager up, but if I close Yahoo Messenger then I can, and now I can see that there is used about 47% memory, under proceses i can see that:
Yahoo uses up to 50MB, Iexplorer 27 - 150MB og Dwm.exe takes up to 120MB.
The problem also happens if Yahoo is not started, so thats not the cause. I have disabled aero and use minimal of all the things Vista comes with, so the I get max. performance following most of the instructions but the probleme persist every time I use IE and use more than 7 tabs (This should not happen, and using more than 7 tabs is perfectly normal)............
It has happened occasionally, but with no predictability that I can see. I change settings in control pannel / power settings / balanced to 10 min for monitor and never for computer. I check the "advanced settings" to assure that they are the same. I use balanced because that seems to be the default in the registry. I do not see the actual settings in the registry. Every so often Vista resets the settings back to 20 min for the monitor. I have looked at but it speaks of "System Settings page" - I don't know what that is. In any case, my settings have no effect and I can't get the monitor to dependably go to standby after 10 minutes.
I understand this can be done online. The information says that I need the Anytime upgrade disk to complete the process. Is this so? Sorry to be stupid but need to know the steps involved. If I dont have an anytime upgrade disk, how do I get one?
I bought retail upgrade vista home premium. Installed on my primary pc and ACTIVATED it. Had odd problems, fixed, then realized I really wanted the ultimate edition. So, bought retail ultimate upgrade. Wiped hard drive, installed XP pro, installed ultimate 64 from there. Now, here is the real question. I now have a perfectly good legal copy of home premium that is not being used. Can I use this copy on a different PC? BTW, it's too late to get a refund from MS, I missed that window of opportunity.
I've been trying to run Serif Page Plus SE free but continually get the 'not responding' message. I've given up on their support line as they l=keep telling me the same thing over and over. I'm running Vista - is there a c0mpatibility problem?
My daughter tried to remove Norton's to put on another security and now I cannot access the internet with Explorer. I am connected but cannot get on. The response when I click on Explorer icon is that it cannot access the web page. Has anyone experienced this? I had Comcast come out and they tried to restore system to day before this happened and it didn't work.
i dont know whats wrong with my computer my start up page doen't come in anymore when i go to Internet i dont see any videos when i go to myspace i cant see my friend pics i dont know whaat to do i went to restore and it was ok but the next day the same. guessing it was the windows update i unstall it what next i also think i have some virise on it what do i do .
When attempting to print/save a web page as a PDF in Vista, a dialog pops up; "For your computer???s security, the file was saved to the Temporary Internet File Folder.? Do you want to open this folder?, Yes or No". When clicking ?Yes? you are taken to a folder named ?Virtualized?, which contains no files. Also the PDF printer dialog box shows "Error - Printing" and the PDF printer refuses to print. PDF files can be saved from other programs with no problems. The web page can also be printed to local or network printers. We are not using Zone Alarm
I get this literally every time i surf the net for a while. basically IE gives that message and then kills the internet, firefox does not work either. there is nothing wrong with the TCP/IP as i can ping the sites no problem. only method of fix rite now is to restart, but that is unrealistic and just a work-around. Running : Vista Business x64 SP2
