Minor issue, but annoying Vista Home Premium, IE7. When I open a new tab I get the Blank Tab page. I have checked the Internet Tools item for Open Home Page instead of a Blank page, but no joy. How can I get a new tab to open to my home page.

I had my IE7 configured to open several pages (tabs) when it starts up and everything was working fine until this morning, when IE8 keeps crashing repeatedly. This is the detail of the error reported by IE:

I am posting it to the Vista newsgroup since I suspect this is a Vista problem rather than an IE problem; let me know if that is not the case.
When I surf with IE7 og have more than 7 tabs open at the same time, its like windows runs out of memory, all of a sudden I cant open any new tabs and right click on the touchpad does not react. If I then minimize IE7 and right click on the desktop nothing happens either. If I then close a couple of programs (its only Yahoo messenger og coreTemp that are running(coreTemp shows how warm your cpu is, and min is constantly between 56 og 64 degrees celsius)), then right click works again.
Usually when this happens I cant even get the taskmanager up, but if I close Yahoo Messenger then I can, and now I can see that there is used about 47% memory, under proceses i can see that:
Yahoo uses up to 50MB,
Iexplorer 27 - 150MB
og Dwm.exe takes up to 120MB.
The problem also happens if Yahoo is not started, so thats not the cause. I have disabled aero and use minimal of all the things Vista comes with, so the I get max. performance following most of the instructions but the probleme persist every time I use IE and use more than 7 tabs (This should not happen, and using more than 7 tabs is perfectly normal)............
This has just started last night and I have no idea on what to do..any folder I open is just blank, computer,network, control panel, etc all open up blank.

This operation used to work OK with XP & OE however using Vista & Windows Mail it only pops up a message stating that the program is not associated. Clicking on an email address in a web page using IE8 works fine, it opens up a Windows Mail reply page.
Is it possible to get IE8 (b2) to remember the tabs you had open in your last session?
View 4 Replies View Relatedafter spending almost 30 min (yeah yeah I'm a newb or whatever you call people like me these days) trying to figure out how I can preview the tabs as thumbnails when I scroll my mouse over the task bar, I see that IF you have Vista Home Premium or better, you can change your Color and Appearance to Aero and then supposedly the option (under the Taskbar and Menu section in the Control Panel) for previewing tabs as thumbnails is supposed to be click-able... I have Windows Vista Home Premium, AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56, etc. ... I tried to change the color to Aero and it won't let me, so of course it won't let me preview the tabs as thumbnails either.

I've clicked on each tab, added the desired webpage, selected Add or Change Home Page and then checked "use the current tab set as your home page." I've also tried all other options. Only the original page is retained. What am I doing wrong? (Date/Time are correct and open new tabs next to current is checked in IE Properties.)

As of yesterday, it no longer displays the individual tabs for worksheets in a workbook of existing files. Any new blank file it will show the standard three tabs. Its not a problem with the file which when viewed in vista 32 or xp still shows the tabs. I've searched the ms knowledgebase and the web, but this appears to be a one of a kind. The "unhide" worksheet feature is greyed out in excel.

They're on the right side, near the clock, rather than the left side by the start menu. They are also so small that I cannot read them, and if I have more than two they don't show up. I insert a blank cd and it auto loads, then it asks to format before continueing, i click yes, it formats then right at the end it says unable to finish formatting and opens the cd. I have a quad boot system with xp,vista32 and vista 64,all with different drivers for my 2 gtx260's,one of them has no display driver and it is still fuzzy.
I've tried two monitors,3 cables,many graphix drivers,and swapping my gtx260's around but no go.

Blank DVD's are no longer detected by my system but blank CD's are ok.
DVD's that are already written are ok and will load ok.
I need help. When I insert any non blank homemade cd Vista can't read it and wants to format it. Happens with Autoplay or when I use Windows explorer. Does not matter what is on the cd: music, pictures, data files, etc. The cds work fine in any other pc. If I insert a store bought or commercial made cd, no problems. Only have a problem with homemade ones. The drive is a Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-850s.
I've done the following:
1. Uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it.
2. Added "NoCDBurning" to the registry (possible fix found on other forums)
I would like to start doing video, on my computer, and I know nothing about it.Right now, what I am trying is to copy an old (8mm film - no sound) home movie that is on a DVD -- to my hard drive -- then burn it onto a blank DVD so that I can have a 2nd copy. View 9 Replies View RelatedPrior to SP1, the RAM usage was always at about 90-95% and the CPU usage seemed to be quite a lot. After SP1, RAM usage seems to be down to about 70% and the CPU usage is a lot less. Before SP1, IE used to take a while to load a new blank tab, and to exit with a number of tabs open. After SP1, new blank tabs load almost instantaneously, and exiting seems to be very much more snappy. Office applications also seem to load much more quickly. The C: drive prior to SP1 had 19.1 GB free out of 37 - after SP1 it now has 22.1 GB free.

The system works fine.
I upgraded to 4GB RAM(2*2GB). when upgraded to 4GB in bios able to see as ~3.33GB of RAM. I am able to see microsoft progress bar also, but after that the screen is blank and able to hear windows logon sound but no display. The screen is black.
When installed only the new 2GB of RAM the system work fine. So no problem with the new 2GB also. But with 4GB the screen is blank. I have nvidia GeForce 7400 graphics card. Is there any configuration need to be done in vista before installing 4GB of RAM?
Vista Home Premium. I have no third-party CD/DVD recording software on the machine. Every time I go to burn files to a CDR, CDRW, DVD R or DVDRW using the Windows burning function it wants to format the disk. If I cancel the format, then the burn is not proceeded with. XP does not do this. How do I stop this infuriating behaviour?
