View 9 RepliesPlease, add a feature, in a patch or sevice pack, to allow to change simply the location of C:Users, or C:UsersOneUser folder location. I have done many internet searches, this seems not to be possible simply. And don't tell me that I have to change each folder location (Music, Pictures, and so on). This does not fit my need.

View 5 Replies View RelatedUnder *Inbox* in Windows Mail I have a dozen or so sub-folders titled by the sender such as "From NatWest 09", or "From Family & Friends 09". I _*HAD,*_ until last week, a similar numbers of sub-folders under Windows Mail *Sent*, such as "To NatWest 09" or "To Family & Friends 09". All the *Sent* file folders have now disappeared. I have accessed Tools, Options,Advanced, Maintenance, Store Folder, Store Location and Change, but cannot find any of the Sent folders anywhere. Can anyone please suggest a way to find and restore them?

View 6 Replies View RelatedThere is finally an easy way (easier than before) to change your Windows Vista boot screen and use any high resolution photo as your boot screen. Using a great tool written by Dan Smith it is now possible to automatically generate the replacement language MUI file that contains your boot image files. All you need is two photos at 800x600 and 1024x768 saved as 24-bit windows bitmaps. Then follow these steps:
Download Dan Smith's Vista Boot Logo Generator.
Install and then run from the link in the Start Menu.
Hit Browse for image and select both the 800x600 and 1024x768 resolution bitmap files for your boot screen.
Click on File and select Save Boot Screen File as and save your file.
Next, you will need to replace the winload.exe.mui file in c:WindowsSystem32en-us with the one you just created. Before you copy in your new file, make a backup of the original. You will need to take ownership of all files in en-us as well as give your account file permissions to replace the file as well in order to copy the new winload.exe.mui file in.
The last step is to enable the alternative boot screen setting as shown in this tweak....

View 4 Replies View RelatedMinor issue, but annoying Vista Home Premium, IE7. When I open a new tab I get the Blank Tab page. I have checked the Internet Tools item for Open Home Page instead of a Blank page, but no joy. How can I get a new tab to open to my home page.
View 9 Replies View Relatedafter spending almost 30 min (yeah yeah I'm a newb or whatever you call people like me these days) trying to figure out how I can preview the tabs as thumbnails when I scroll my mouse over the task bar, I see that IF you have Vista Home Premium or better, you can change your Color and Appearance to Aero and then supposedly the option (under the Taskbar and Menu section in the Control Panel) for previewing tabs as thumbnails is supposed to be click-able... I have Windows Vista Home Premium, AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56, etc. ... I tried to change the color to Aero and it won't let me, so of course it won't let me preview the tabs as thumbnails either.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am setting up my vista machine. I would like to change my DPI (dots per inch) on my screen. So, I go to my desktop's Personalize -> Display Settings -> Advanced Settings. As the Vista help says, I should be able to see a tab called "Scale (DPI)". But I only see tabs "Adapter", "Monitor", "Color Management", etc. My graphic card is NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700. Is it a graphic card related issue? I don't think it's a monitor issue since I was able to set DPI using my old XP machine and the same monitors.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded my PC to Vista from XP and purchased a new monitor, capable of supporting 1440 x 900 resolution. Problem is that the screen resolution cannot be changed and is fixed at 640 x 480. I've tried via the settings in the control panel but I cannot drag the mouse on the slider bar from low to high resolution.
The online help suggests I may have an inadequate video card, Does anyone know how I can check this? What card do I have now and what do I need? Or is there another solution?

View 0 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I set my home page tabs with no problem. Today I decided to add two tabs. Nothing works. I've even tried adding them via IP's. I've clicked on each tab, added the desired webpage, selected Add or Change Home Page and then checked "use the current tab set as your home page." I've also tried all other options. Only the original page is retained. What am I doing wrong? (Date/Time are correct and open new tabs next to current is checked in IE Properties.)

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe strangest thing has happened in my excel 2007, running in vista 64. As of yesterday, it no longer displays the individual tabs for worksheets in a workbook of existing files. Any new blank file it will show the standard three tabs. Its not a problem with the file which when viewed in vista 32 or xp still shows the tabs. I've searched the ms knowledgebase and the web, but this appears to be a one of a kind. The "unhide" worksheet feature is greyed out in excel.
View 6 Replies View Relatedhow the broken system acts. When I turn the computer on (it's an HP pavillion DV2000 laptop) it first shows the black screen with the little bar that says MICROSOFT CORPORATION near the bottom of the screen. Then it transitions to the Vista screen that says WELCOME , then the message changes to PREPARING YOUR DESKTOP. These phases take about as long as usual, and the hard drive LED shows a lot of hard drive activity. Finally the Vista logon screen is displayed. I type in my password and the screen changes to my usual desktop color but there is nothing displayed except the mouse pointer.
There is nothing to click, nothing to do. Ctrl+Alt+Del gives the usual menu for LOGOFF, Task Manager, etc. Task Manager shows about 20 processes and the CPU is 96% idle. It shows many services - some of them stopped. Starting in SAFE mode ends up in the same situation. I can't start from a Vista CD because I never got one with this machine - I have only the recovery partition for reloading the original software. So I can't get to recovery console...............

I am posting it to the Vista newsgroup since I suspect this is a Vista problem rather than an IE problem; let me know if that is not the case.
over the last couple of weeks Internet Explorer has decided to stop responding. Is this a general problem or am I the only one? I don't seem to be doing anything unusual when it happens. Sometimes simply switching tabs causes the freeze.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI turn on my computer today, and all of a sudden the minimized tabs for the programs I'm using are on the wrong side of the taskbar. They're on the right side, near the clock, rather than the left side by the start menu. They are also so small that I cannot read them, and if I have more than two they don't show up. I know it's a minor problem, but it's really annoying to me, and I can't figure out how to make them go to the way they were before.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I surf with IE7 og have more than 7 tabs open at the same time, its like windows runs out of memory, all of a sudden I cant open any new tabs and right click on the touchpad does not react. If I then minimize IE7 and right click on the desktop nothing happens either. If I then close a couple of programs (its only Yahoo messenger og coreTemp that are running(coreTemp shows how warm your cpu is, and min is constantly between 56 og 64 degrees celsius)), then right click works again.
Usually when this happens I cant even get the taskmanager up, but if I close Yahoo Messenger then I can, and now I can see that there is used about 47% memory, under proceses i can see that:
Yahoo uses up to 50MB,
Iexplorer 27 - 150MB
og Dwm.exe takes up to 120MB.
The problem also happens if Yahoo is not started, so thats not the cause. I have disabled aero and use minimal of all the things Vista comes with, so the I get max. performance following most of the instructions but the probleme persist every time I use IE and use more than 7 tabs (This should not happen, and using more than 7 tabs is perfectly normal)............
