Apr 19, 2009In my Contacts folder I have set the colums for details as 'Name', 'email address' and 'Department'. The view displays these three headings and Names and email addresses are displayed but not the itext I have typed in 'Department'. What must I do to display details in 'Department'?

They have some help screens for moving it from Outlook Express by exporting the Address Book. I'm not seeing any options in Windows Mail to export contacts via a .cvs file. Is there a way to do it?

Dec 27, 2009I'm a Windows Vista Ulitimate 32 user since 2008. I've always updated the system using "Windows Update" but since two weeks ago, the system jut don't show the list of updates available. It tells me I have new updates (system tray icon) but when I open it, I cant see nothing. Here is the printscreen: The gray background is just my personal configuration... So, I can see I have 41 optional updates, for example, but there is no list of them! quite strange.

Sep 19, 2009When I click on Contracts in Vista Mail they all look ok. I have names of those I sent to often, and then I have sub-folders, i.e., family, friend, business, etc. But when I go to send a message and try to select the people I want to send to "ALL" of the name I have in both the list and those in the subfolders all show up on the list. Is there anyway I can get the ones in the sub-folders not to show up. Like I was able to do in OE.

I have listed her address in my safe senders and she is not listed in my block senders but somehow only her emails go into phishing. Someone answered my question but when I click on the link to get my answer, a blank page comes up (it should take me straight to my question and the answer). Apr 25, 2008Just recently (possibly since SP1) a number of web sites that I frequently visit have become inaccessible via my Vista Hoe Premium/IE7 PC. I can access them OK using WinXP/IE7 on my laptop so have no idea what the problem can be. The error message states "The website declined to show the page....This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage". With the exception of one site, none of the other four sites require any kind of log-in. I use Norton Internet Security but have disabled web protection to see if that helps - nothing, I've also binned my temp internet files - nothing!

I was asked if I wanted to prevent change to my home page and I answered yes because very often certain web sites try to make themselves your home page. Now I want to change my home page to comcast.net but every time I reboot it goes back to MSN as my home page. I went to tools/internet options and changed my home page to Comcast and clicked apply but whenever I start IE8 it reverts back to MSN for my home page. How can I make it keep comcast as my home page?

Mar 1, 2010I tried to a search on this particular issue, but did not find an identical problem. Every few days my home page get hijacked by MSN and a window comes up to download I.E 8 which I have already since last summer. Each time I change back to my home page and click on ask me later on the I.E. 8 popup because there is no other option. I did all the scans with Zone Alarm Extreme Security, ad-aware, S&D spybot, malwarebytes and CC cleaner.

May 31, 2008A few days ago I set my home page tabs with no problem. Today I decided to add two tabs. Nothing works. I've even tried adding them via IP's. I've clicked on each tab, added the desired webpage, selected Add or Change Home Page and then checked "use the current tab set as your home page." I've also tried all other options. Only the original page is retained. What am I doing wrong? (Date/Time are correct and open new tabs next to current is checked in IE Properties.)

Jul 29, 2009I am having problems importing contacts into Vista Contacts. I tried 2 things :
1/ LDIF
I exported my contacts in Thunderbird under an LDIF format.
I then imported this LDIF file within Contacts
The import stops 1/5 of the way, simply saying that there is an error
in the contacts, and it stays stuck
2/ CVS
I exported my contacts in Thunderbird under a CVS file. I then tried to import the file within Contacts but cannot do the mapping:
- all column headings are lumped together, with plenty of ","
- all accentuated caracters are replaced by squares
Also, with the LDIF method, 50 contacts out of 300 were imported. In these imported contacts, all accentuated caracters were replaced by symbols. I opened the CVS file in Microsoft Excel: everything is fine.
Windows Contacts Replaced By Outlook Contacts
May 7, 2008I installed Outlook 2003 on my computer which has Vista Ultimate so I could use a Dell Axim. Now when I go to fax a document using Windows Fax and Scan and try to select a contact, Outlook Contacts is displayed instead of Windows Contacts. It won't let me choose to use Windows Contacts either. I tried using Default Programs to associate Windows Contacts with it's defaults but that didn't work.

Jan 22, 2008I have a problem with the Vista program Windows Contacts in conjunction with using email programs. I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I like to use Outlook 2000 as my email program. I have the same problem if I use Windows Mail as my email program. I can use Outlook to send and receive email, but I cannot add any contacts to Windows Contacts. Also when creating a new email, if I click on the To… button to get to Windows Contacts, I get the error message “The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If this problem persists, restart Outlook.”, which of course does not help.
I am not sure, but I think I created the problem by importing Outlooks 2000 contacts from my old PC in an improper format into Outlook 2000 on my new Vista PC (which is where the problem is).

May 4, 2008I bought retail upgrade vista home premium. Installed on my primary pc and ACTIVATED it. Had odd problems, fixed, then realized I really wanted the ultimate edition. So, bought retail ultimate upgrade. Wiped hard drive, installed XP pro, installed ultimate 64 from there. Now, here is the real question. I now have a perfectly good legal copy of home premium that is not being used. Can I use this copy on a different PC? BTW, it's too late to get a refund from MS, I missed that
