I am attempting to re-load my Vista Home Premium 64 bit and I am stuck, I have gone through most of the process until just after it copies all files, installs features and updates etc. It then restarts and it then hangs on a black screen with the message 'Please wait while windows sets up your computer'. But nothing happens no matter how long I leave it. There is no sign of activity.

I tried to open "Advanced Boot Options" menu by pressing F8, but still it doesn't show any menu and hangs at black screen. I also tried to boot the computer by inserting the Windows Vista SP1 CD but still no luck. It also hangs at black screen. how to get into Safe mode or to "Last known good configuration" option, to atleast try something.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am doing a clean install of Vista 64 Ultimate SP1. At the partition screen I select load drivers (I obtained drivers directly from Gigabyte Support). Windows installs the ACHI10 drivers with no problem. I select ?Next? to begin the install. After ?Completing Installation? the PC restarts and proceeds to the black Windows screen with the green scroll bar. It scrolls two or three times and then hangs. I then go into Safe Mode where the computer hangs at crcdisk.sys. An error message then returns that says ?Windows cannot finish the installation?. My only remaining option is to try and repair from the CD. But when I select ?The repair option? the blue repair bar scrolls indefinitely. I actually let it scroll for over 24 hours?and it never stopped. Gigabyte tech support told me to remove all ram except 1 cartridge. I?ve tried that and did a clean install (deleted the partition and loaded the correct chipset drivers and the beginning of the install) yet the scroll bar still hangs.

My computer freeze for 2-5 second, next is black screen for 2seconds(as monitor is shuted down) and next is black screen while i don't stop the game. other prob is the taskmanager wont show up. i see its icon in the bottom right bar (green gridlike box) it jus wont show up on the screen last some programs wont open like itunes or the conect to a network and network setings and sometimes windows defender i think they might run in the background but i cant get taskmanager running
I really hope this issue can be easily resolved. I built my rig about three months ago and for the last month the system has been restarting randomly. It will restart at idle, if I'm in a word doc, or on the web. It will seem to freeze for two seconds, then go black and restart.I have disabled the automatic restart to hopefully see a bsod error code, but even with the automatic restart disabled the system does not display a bsod error and still restarts.The minidump folder is empty and the event viewer simply states that an unexpected shut down occurred.My graphic card's avg. temp is 50c and the cpu 46c. I've ran SiSoftware Sandra stability test close to 48 hours with no errors or restarts, then the next day at idle...restart Bios and drivers are current...I am stumped!
View 6 Replies View Relatedi had a vista home premium, without any problem, for a while. yesterday my anti-virus detected a suspicious file located in c:UsersuserappdataLocalTemp and i allow it to delete mentioned file. after a restart windows start up couldn't be completely done and instead of log in screen, i faced with a black screen just with mouse enabled on it!! however windows boots in safe mode correctly. i have already tried start up repair but it didn't solve the problem!

Ihave read all the posts in as many threads as i can find related to this issue and they seem to identify the utility chkdsk problems of some sort. I think my problem is not related to that and happens during the initial splash screen with the Toshiba/AMD on it with the solid bar that used to speed across the screen that now hangs, stalls or whatever at a point beyond half way. It can stay there for minutes and I dont know why. I have checked all the logs,events and the like and find no issues the diagnostics from toshiba and micro both come out fine. i use the couple of aftermarket utilities as well to find no problem but it does take loads of time. If it did it all the time I would wonder but this will zip across and move on to the next screen with the moving lights microsoft screen some times. It used to be the other way round; stall infrequently. I dont know what would be a worthwhile use of time to fix this if it needs to be fixed. It will take maybe 2 or 3 re boots to get all the icons to line up in the tray as well after one of these protracted boot up experiences. I dont know what to eliminate or bring back to the start up lineup. If I go the safe mode, it , of course, loads up like a jet. Something is going on there but I dont know what it is and would like any information someone with more experience and wisdom than I have can provide. and a fix if need be.

I've been trying to install my audio recording software(Cubase) but the installer just hangs at the splash screen before I can do anything.It used to install fine on my XP machine and it's said to be compatible with Vista.I'm on a q6600 with 4gb of ram and running Home premium.Running it with xp compatibility mode doesn't work and neither does running it with admin rights(I'm on admin account anyway).I also tried it with UAC off.But it works on my friend's dell xps laptop with vista home premium, installs and runs fine.Doesn't hang on the installer splash screen.Naturally this made me think it was due to my hardware BUT I actually got the installer working in vista home premium under MS Virtual pc 2007.I've also tried booting up into safe mode and trying it to no avail.

I got it all put together and tried to load Vista. It got to the Windows is loading files screen and then screen in getting black video. Keyboad and mouse stopped working at times. So I updated the board BIO's per intel through iso image and same thing. So I tried installing XP and got to the F8 screen to accept lic. and it just reboots everytime.
Any ideas why Vista would stop? Added the info about the XP install so it may help.

I have recently bought a new PC running Windows Vista Home Premium. I have loaded the above programs for my son and when they a running the screen is not centred and the is a black bar to the right of the screen approx 3 cm wide. I have tried to run the games in compatibility mode and as adminstrator as recommended with other games but with no success.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having a very wierd issue with vista's screen saver. So basically when I leave the comp idle it goes into screen saver then turns off the monitor after 15 mins. Sometimes, more often than not, I come back and move the mouse and hit a few keys on the keyboard and nothing. The monitor wont come out of standby I try turning it off and back on, and nothing. I have the latest drivers for everything in my system and I checked the power management settings and they both are able to wake the computer up. I have a G15 keyboard and I keep the leds on and when this happens the leds are off and the lazer for the mouse is off too.

My one guess is its something to do with the display driver maybe because that has been stuffing up a bit of late, in the way of the screen going black for a couple of seconds then recovering.
Why do I get black picture after I have pressed PrtSc button? Of course it shouldn't be black and it happens only when the screen is on full screen mode (for an example videos, games etc.). View 4 Replies View RelatedAnybody having as I am problems with eSATA devices since installing SP1? My eSATA drives show in the BIOS boot screen but hangs on the Vista drivers loading bard or just beyond on the black screen before the Windows logo. If I restart without the eSATA device connected/powered up Vista loads normally and if I then switch on/plug in the eSATA drive it is not recognised by windows anywhare. I have looked in disk management in the admin folder and the drive is not there.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter working well for months, my Vista Home Premium x64 system has developed a bad bug: Every time I try to do Shutdown or Restart, right after displaying "Shutting down", the system crashes with a Blue Screen of Death message: "SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION" with gdrv.sys as the offending driver. This makes it impossible to do a smooth restart, since I have to do a manual reboot at that point every time.
This behavior does NOT happen in Safe Mode, only in normal mode. That leads me to believe it's a software bug. But I've used verifier.exe and still can't find a driver that's faulty. Verifier.exe can't find anything wrong with gdrv.sys.
I just got on my computer about 30mins ago and unplug'd my US Cellular usb port Modem from my desktop and a blue screen pops up and then it restarts. I couldnt tell what was said on the blue screen though because it happend so fast. Anyways heres what pop'd up in a messege when logd into my user (Admin).

while I was playing my computer suddenly restarted but it wasnīt a normal restart cuz the screen just went black and nothing happened, after waiting several minutes I had to shut it down. When I turned it on nothing happened again and my screen went black so I kept trying to restart it andfinally after some attempts I got it to start but while it was loading vista a blue screen appeared and it restarted again. So I managed to restart it on safe mode and I got this blue screen again and a restart. This time the restart was worst cuz it wonīt load anything, the screens just turns black, canīt access the BOOT menu or anything. I manged to take this picture of the blue screen.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought an Asus G50-VT with Vista pre-installed. There was some sort of glitch while I was overnighting the download of a long file. Anyway I wound up at what I can only say was the blue screen of death except now it's white. It told me that Windows could not restart and I should insert my installation disk to repair a busted file which it also named. Looked and I had no installation disk, indeed I did not have any Windows disks at all included with the machine. I called Asus Tech Support. They told me that Microsoft no longer lets OEMs ship the windows disks. Although there were two disks called "recovery disks" the TS person said my only option was to hold down f9 to rebootr and WIPE THE DISK AND REINSTALL WINDOWS! So I lost all my data and have spent all morning recovering.
Was Asus right? You do not get install disks anymore even though a system message tells you to insert it? I only have a few days in which I could return this computer. Do other manufacturers like Sony or Hewlett Packard supply Windows Vista installtion disks with their machines? Or is Asus right? If it is just Asus that does not do this I feel I need to return this right away.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAlrighty I went off to work with my pc turned on a few days ago, I come back and the screen is black and nothing I do is responsive to the screen. I then reboot the Pc it leading to a blue screen. Some times when I reboot it will blue screen some times it will just be a black screen that is un responsive. I have tried f8 options in advance boot optiotns, Ive tried re installing windows- it claiming my disk is full. Ive tried system restore it also says I have a disk failure. View 8 Replies View Relatedis that when he tries to delete some files that he previously stored in the C:"Account Name",he gets a message saying that the file is unavailable in the specified location.However,that is not my main problem now,because when I was trying to help fix this problem I typed "msconfig" into the RUN box to get the startup utility box and I unchecked some of the background programs to prevent them from loading automatically when the system starts,in order to speed up the system;but when I restarted the system I can see the first screen, which is by the manufacturer of the labtop;then when vista starts loading, the screen becomes black and don't display anything,although I am sure that Vista is loading successfully but I cannot see it on the screen.
