I can send mail but cannot receive Gmail thru Wndows Mail. I tried not synching, etc. Error reads: could not select (gmail) on the imap server. you might try refreshing your folder list to syncronize with the imap server.

View 9 Replies View RelatedPC: HP Windows Media Center PC m8200n; Monitor HP w1907. November 2007. OS: Windows Vista Home Premium. HP: Deskjet F4180. So I noticed that the printer icon for my printer became all white, IE a corrupted icon. So I went online and found information on how to refresh your icon folder. That didn't do anything. So I thought I'd uninstall and reinstall.
I have tried to reinstall my HP software from disc, and I get a 'new PSSWCORE.msi' file. I see the file on the install disc, yet it won't install. 'Network resource is unavailable.'
Now I cannot uninstall it. On my Add/Remove I see:
HP Customer Participation Program 9.0
HP All In One Software 9.0
HP Imaging device Functions 9.0
HP On-Screen Cap/Num/Scroll Lock Indicator
HP Photosmart Essential
HP Update
How can I get these off my PC, and reinstall cleanly so I can use my rinter/scanner again?
I thought that by selecting 'Apply to Folders' in Folder Options it would apply to all folders. But I still find myself changing the folders to 'List' and removing the column headers. I have Vista Basic sp2 and have thought they would have corrected this by
now. Or, is there a problem with my system?
Using Windows Vista Home Premium. When I look at the contents of folders, the contents are sometimes listed as a single list. Sometimes the list is divided into sections: A-H, I-P, Q-Z.

View 9 Replies View Relatedusing the laptop through wireless I can see other computer and even list their shared folders but when I try to actually list files the connection timesout and gives an error os dennied access to the shared folder. If I try to use VNC for instance, the client connects, asks for pass and then after the remote screen starts to appear.. it hangs... no response after that . The strange part of the problem is that if I connect the laptop through a wired connection everything works ok I access shared folders, I print remotely, no problems. I tried a number of things , the most obvious, like firewalls diferent settings on the network etc. What I can't figure out is what can be so different in the PC for the wired to work but not the wireless.

It's much more cumbersome to have to open the contact list, find a name and then click on the email button. Is that the only way to open a new mail with a person's name in the To field?

Several of which start with "The" and I would really love to find a way to sort the folders skipping the word "The" without having to rename each folder (ie.."Dark Knight, The") So if anyone has any ideas or anything Id love to hear it. When I go to Contacts via the "Contacts" icon in Windows Mail I get the Contacts File I thought was the one Win Mail was using but it has many more entries (a good thing) and does not have any duplicates. I deleted it thinking it would confuse the 92 year old client whose machine this is, as she was going to use AOL webmail. However, most webmail applications are so frought with garbage on the screen, that the appearance of Windows Mail (uncluttered) seems a good alternative for one with macular degeneration (she can't see at all well).

I have listed her address in my safe senders and she is not listed in my block senders but somehow only her emails go into phishing. a) When she opens her Contact list , the names are in alphabetical order (which is expected) .However when she composes an email and clicks on the "To" button , the name list displayed is not in alphabetical order by name but strangely ordered by email addresses. Is there a way to rearrange to resort by names?
b) When she types a name in the Address area ie in the box next to "To" , another page opens for search. Is this normal ? With Outlook ( which she used to use until she changed to a new computer running Vista) when you type the name a list of potential email addresses appear. IS there a way to fix this?
I haven't used Windows mail (only used to read news groups) in some time, when I went to use it this morning I received this error message; Folder could not be opened Windows mail could not open this folder. The possible causes are not the problem. I have 2 gig memory and it was working fine when I only had 1 gig of memory. Disk space, I have over 90 gig of free space.
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen i go to start, all programs, all my folders/programs show up, but then i noticed that theres a "programs" folder within the list, and when i click that, it shows all the same folders/programs that are in the "all programs" list. but then some of the folders within the ones in the 'all programs" list, they are empty, but they show up in the programs folder in the list. i dont know how this happened and i just wanted to know how to fix this issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn my previous email program of choice, Outlook Express, I used to beable to select the "to" function within the email message template and see a display of contacts that included the FOLDERS. In Windows Mail, the same action calls up ALL the contacts and NO folders. ALthough I can select multiple contacts from the Windows Contacts folder and through "action", install them in the "To" pane of an email message, I cannot jump from folder to folder to, for example, select contacts within another folder whom I wish to CC on the same message. The "Action" sequence always generates a new email template, posting any selected contact or contacts to the "To" pane.
I do not wish to create GROUPS and then go through the convoluted process of calling up the group in the "To" pane, and then deleting the ones I don't want. Needless to say, this feature was critical to my email flow and organization. Am I missing something? I have checked every forum and group I can. Others report the same issue without resolution. One forum individual said, "That's the way Windows Mail is".

I have two user accounts on my home PC. It's Vista Home Premium.
I am administrator on my PC. When I check my user account, it confirms this.
However, when I try, thru a CMD prompt, to do ipconfig /flushdns, I get an error message saying "The requested operation requires elevation."
The prompt is C:UsersBruce which implies I'm not the administrator.
How do I get to the right place to clear the DNS? It's causing me some trouble.
I'm on a home wireless network, just my notebook and the wireless router (attached to a cable modem).
my OS is Vista Ultimate, and I get IP from dhcp server to connect Internet I mean my IP is like 10.x.x.x. When I was using XP, If I use ipconfig/release & ipconfig/renew, then I can get a new IP from dhcp. But now, the method above can't refresh my dynamic IP address. If I want to change my IP address, I must first set a static IP and connect to gateway then disable my ethernet adapter, cancel the static IP and use dhcp again. Finally, MAYBE I can get a new IP. Even I reboot or shut down my computer for a whole day. When my computer gets to dhcp server if there isn't any other computer is USING my IP then I can't get a new one. I want to know, How can I refresh my IP address easily under Vista?

Both computers will print just fine but after I turn the printer on after being down, the Vista machine lists the the printer as offline and I can't get it to 'refresh' to see that the printer is on. Documents just sit in the queue. Nothing seems to work short of uninstall/install.

Then, all of a sudden they will refresh. It's fairly quick when it happens, but is this normal? It happens on every boot. I have thirteen desktop icons counting the recycle bin. Can someone at least tell me if their Vista 64 OS does the same?
