I have updated my bios ,update came out last month, and still under the device manager it shows "unknown device". The BIOS recognizes it and the Sytem under Control Panel recognizes it. Anyone with the same issue? I don't have any performance problems and didn't even with the old bios. I attached a screenshot.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSimply put- RED Blue Screens. I don't know what I need to call them. THEY ARE RED! And they just reference "An error reading the instruction set" There is no STOP Error. I upgraded the Processor from AMD Athlon x2 5000+ to an AMD Phenom x4 9650. I have not overclocked it. In fact, first thing I did after installing it was reset CMOS.
I've checked for minidumps relating to this issue but there are none. I am running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium.

is software like games able to use all 4 cores? i heard that most apps dont use quad core yet. if not, Is it possible to have say 2 cores used for running a game, then the other 2 to run all my background tasks, or even everything else on my pc, so that there are always 2 cores free for games or rendering etc.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running Home Premium 64 on a Sony Vaio Laptop (CS170F). I'm having a curious problem: Yesterday I plugged into the machine the dongle of my wireless logitech mouse, and for some reason the machine said "Your unknown device is ready to use" (my OS is in spanish, the messages may not be accurately translated). Since then, an annoying message pops every few seconds warning about an "unrecognized USB device", that "didn't work as expected". The best part is this, if I click on the tray icon, sometimes the informative dialog window is emply, an other times shows all the USB ports in the system plus one extra with a "unknown UBS device", even without any device plugged into the system. I've tryed removing the unknown device from the device manager, but it shows up again.
I am connecting an external hard drive (Acomdata 250G drive - pretty standard) via USB to my HP laptop running Vista. I am able to see the device listed under Disk Drives in the Device Manager. Drilling into Properties, I see that the device is running properly and, having re-loaded the device drivers, I have the most recent drivers. The issue: I am unable to see the device listed in Window Explorer, and thus I can't drill into the folders to get at the content.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T60p and a Lenovo USB Webcam. I installed SP1 and the camera stopped working so I uninstalled SP1 and it still doesn't work, it appears as "Unknown device". Is Microsoft going to publish some solution? I see all the reports and there are a lot people having the same problem.Should I come back to XP?

It finds the driver but says it encounters a problem when installing. Its says: Nvidia GeForce 9200M GS access denied. I downloaded new drivers from Nvidia, installed them, restarted, no good. but not able to get it. i even do not know what device it is.
Have a 6 in 1 USB 2.0 Internal Media Card Reader on an old eMachine (D2266) that ran and worked on Win XP Pro x32. There is no Manufacturer's ID Tag anywhere on this unit. I installed this card reader into my Vista Home Premium x64 machine. Then plugged into an available motherboard USB port and turned on computer. The power light on the media reader lit indicating power, and Vista claimed "device successfully installed". Inserted a SD media card and device is not working. A check of device manager reveals an 'Unknown Device" on the roothub a check on the 'Drivers Tab'reveals "There are no installed drivers for this device" or something to that effect.
I'm happy to be telling you all that tomorrow I'll be getting the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 E0 stepping 3.0 GHz 1333 MHz FSB.
You guys should know what it is. or most of you do. I was originally wanting to get the Q9550. but I'm not going to wait for the E0 stepping on that. I'm just going to snag the Q9650 thats for sure E0 and be happy. it costs a little more. but my friend works there so I get a little discount.
Although the Q9550 E0's were supposed to have already shipped out to retailers everywhere. yet we are still not seeing them. I did hear that some people ordered some from Australia and they got Q9550's with E0 stepping from AU..not sure why they'd have it before the U.S. but whatever.
This is my plan. I'm going to a supersize electronics store in the states called Fry's. they have over 200 Q9000 series CPU's in a locked room. I'm going to throw the employee a $20 dollar bill to dive in and search through the boxes for a Q9550 with the SLV8B sSpec. and thats the E0 stepping. if he can't find one, then I'll just eat it and get the Q9650 instead.

View 9 Replies View RelatedCan not get my HP 7400 scanner to work after upgrading to Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Not the hardware - works fine under XP pro using same hardware configuration. Did a clean install, installed motherboard BIOS updates, scanner BIOS updates, Vista updates and the correct driver from HP. The scanner installed and Device Manager says device is working properly. When I try to scan, scanner initializes, starts to scan then locks up. Then can no longer be seen. ASUS M2N-E motherboard with AMD dual core. Other than that Vista works OK with the rest of my system
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have installed the correct driver for this belkin bluetooth usb dongle model: F8T012XX1 but in device manager, it has the belkin device and microsoft bluetooth enumerator, which is great. but when u get further down the list. it has a tab named "other devices" and then a subtab with "bluetooth peripheral device" which has an exclemation mark on it. i have searched for driver software using the update service but it cant find no update. i have looked for the name of the manufacturer but found nothing.i then disabled the unknown device, and sent a picture to my mobile phone. which confirmed that it was not the belkin bluetooth device. so i uninstalled the unknown device, restarted the computer. then when i logged in, it said that it had found a new device and wanted me to find the CD that came with it.

The USB ports are showing on the bottom Task Bar (the way it usually shows a Flash Drive when plugged in), with a little computer and a green check. I have not seen this before for USB drives not in use. If you right click it you get the message "Safely Remove Hardware" and if you go further it is called USB Mass Storage Data at Port_#0005.Hub_#0008. This relates to my Drives G,H,I,J. In my case I installed a older piece of software (maybe a couple of years old) on my laptop runnibg Vista Basic Home, the program installed and runs ok, but when I went take a look in the program's folder , there were files that should have been that are not listed, then I noticed listed on the menu where Organize, Views, Burn options are located another option called Compatibility Files, so being the seek and ye shall find kind of guy I clicked on the "compatibility files" folder and there were the missing files.

I do not know much about it as it is not mine, but the problem is the audio was cutting out and now there is nothing. The computer is not recognizing any type of audio device installed. Even in Device Manager, there is no option for Sound, game and controllers. I have tried downloading the driver and installing, but no luck there.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows Vista Home Premium and it has been running great until this morning when I tried to turn on my computer. It took forever just to get me to a random blue screen where it then stalled and about ten minutes later a box came up and asked me which language I would like to use. Since Wookie was not listed I settled for English. Then another few minutes went by until my computer painfully popped up another box asking which driver I would like to select so that I could run Startup Repair.
However, there aren't any drivers listed! What do I do from here? I have a tendency to push the big button that says launch so I just clicked next without selecting any drivers (mostly because there weren't any to choose from). It then began Startup Repair, hooray! But hours went by and finnaly I came home from work and it was finally done repairing. It said it repaired everything and all I needed to do was restart and everything would be just fine and dandy.
