Norton Internet Security Installation
Mar 26, 2008
I just tried to install Norton Internet Security on my laptop. It started the installation process but an error message" C:windowssystem32 iched32.dll not designed to run on windows or contains errors" came up and I could proceed no further. I installed the same cd on my xp pc with no issues. Is there a fix for this or is there an error on vista.

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'Yahoo!', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x80004005
I recently upgraded to latest level of Nortin Internet Security 2008 (when they prompted me to!), and since then I cannot receive email via Windows Mail from my Yahoo account. See error message above. Just spoke to Symantec who claim that NIS 2008 is fully compatible with Windows Mail. I'm not convinced as the problem only started with their upgrade, and all was working perfectly before.

I have Vista Home Premium, and I'm trying to install Norton Internet Security 2009, which I downloaded from the website. The problem is that even when I tell User Account Control to allow the install program to run, nothing happens. I contacted Symantec about it, but all they said was that the user control policy is not allowing the installation to run and that I should contact Microsoft about how to fix it so the program can run. How do I do that?

My NIS 2010 runs out in 15 days, and instead of paying them $60 for another year I'm wondering if it's safe enough to just use MSE and the built in firewall.I never had any complaints with norton, it worked great, never noticed it at all, but I just can't justify spending $60 for something is MSE is at least or even almost as good.I haven't seen many independent tests of MSE,while I know that Norton is one of the best at detection and removal.

I have had problems connecting to the internet using Vista ultimate, so I did a clean install with SP1 and installed norton ghost V12 so I could make a backup of the clean install , I can connect to my ISP but cannot go any further, there is no animation of the internet icon in the taskbar even though it is turned (animation) on , the diagnostic link could not give any answers, and when the internet icon in the taskbar is right clicked and open the network settings (bottom of the list) it shows My ISP to my Computer OK but from my computer to the internet is a large X which means I cannot get out to the web..

COMODO Internet Security 3.5.53896.424 Released! Good news! We have just released COMODO Internet Security 3.5.53896.424! What is COMODO Internet Security? COMODO Internet Security is the product in which we have integrated COMODO Antivirus, COMODO Firewall and COMODO Defense+ in a seamless manner.
Our philosophy, as you well know, is about “Prevention” being your first line of defense. CIS now has an AV component however this AV component is there to make Prevention more usable. We believe in a Layered Security Architecture where Prevention - Detection - Cure (in that order) is the components needed for a good security. Of course Prevention being the first line of defense, CIS does not compromise on this philosophy and continues to prevent malware from infecting the PC in the first place. And with the help of the detection technology (AV) built in CIS we can now offer easier to use security technology that has “prevention” as its first line of defense. My computer must be infected. New Internet pages starts up continuously with advertizing and in particular urging me to download and install ???AntiSpywareSuite???. Warning windows with the text ???Windows Internet Explorer??? at the top of frame, also pop ups asking me: Do you want to install AntiSpywareSuite to scan your PC for malware now? (Recommended) I already have Microsoft malware and spyware protection running along with the latest Symantec antivirus suite. I have also run Lavasoft???s Ad Aware and removed all cookies and removed the latest programs that I have installed, but nothing has helped. I am running Vista Business.

I am ordering a new computer (Vista Home Premium 64 bit) that offers an Internet.
Security Suite from Norton, McAfee, or Trend Micro in the purchase price.I am seeking recommendations on which of the three to get.
I am open to advice ranging from one of them being superior, to they all are inferior, to which one sucks the least, or even the one easiest to remove without hosing the system before installing a different suite.
I also have available Kaspersky 7.0 (which I know will update when installed) with one more available computer on its license. It is running fine on two Vista Home Premium 32 bit systems.

I am running Windows Vista 64bit edition on an Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard, Intel Q9540 2.66gz Quadcore processor with 4gb RAM. My system has been running fine for the last year and just last night (27th June 2009) windows told me there were 3 updates that should be installed. I only noticed one of the update names which was Internet Explorer 8, the other 2 were security updates or something - really not sure though. The total of the downloaded updates was around 280mb.
Anyway... So I started installing the updates and walked away. When I came back there was a Terms & Agreement box for Internet Explorer 8 which I agreed to. Once that finished it came back to my desktop and said "windows needs to restart to configure the updates, please restart now."..........

The reason Im asking is with having Vista I was thinking that to have all security from Microsoft may be a lot better.

I apparently got a virus on my laptop. As soon as the internet connection is established, I keep receiving tons of messages informing me that my laptop is infected. A Visa Internet security 2010 window popups, where Firewall and Malware are off and it tells me that I have to buy a subscription to get rid of the problem. It apparently detects 28 trojan... programs. I ran Avast and another anti-virus program. They did detect some trojan programs but did not find the cause of the infection. When I try to go on Firefox, it says that Firefox is infected with Trojan_BNK.Win32.keylogger.gen

My computer has been having issues accessing some internet sites: facebook, yahoo, thisiscornwall and so on. I have Kaspersky internet security and thought everything was ok. Until i decided to download AVG. Whilst running this scan AVG discovered i have a Vundo. 0 trojan. AVG stated the trojan had been deleted. However i decided to manually remove the program the trojan was found in (a zip file for registry mechanic sent from a friend). I also uninstalled the program. However the problem is still there and i cannot access certian sites. Does anyone know what i can do to get rid of this problem? I have tried a vundo removal program and also vundobegone (in which you start the program in safe mode) these both returned a nothing found result.
