i have Norton INTERNET 2009 that comes with my PC but am thinking about getting Norton 360 what do you guys think about this and how do you like Norton products. if i post in the wrong forum then i am sorry it seen like i do the wrong things here some times.

I downloaded a bandwidth meter, after getting excess data usage on my cable bill. We only surf, upload pics, forums, occasional DL, etc. Nothing heavy. Yesterday I used 750 mb just surfing!! the only DL I did was a 22mb Adware, to check for spyware. no viruses, well protected here. I uninstalled yahoo, bitching that it must be that. I saw a drop, but not enough to use as much as i was, just surfing. I got to thinking about how years ago, Norton (or McAffee I forget) used to DL mail to their server, scan it and then redownload it to your computer. I thought Norton must have a similar bug. I was 31 days into my 90 day trial, and that has been the only major change on here. I uninstalled Norton and viola usage is down about 90%. I always thought it was strange that Norton never notified me of anything, but obviously it was busy doing something in the background. Just the occasional notification (rarely) that it found a problem and fixed it. Although they were idiotic notifications, like we found a cookie and fixed it.

The status of the installation will only remain at "Intializing". Approximately 5 seconds later, the installation will stop, no prompt message appear.
Same scenario appears no matter how many times i tried to install.
My subscription is up to Norton and is it safe to remove it from the add and remove program? I can't see paying $50.00 for this when there is avg or avast and other good free ones,I have avg on my desk top and the Norton came on my HP laptop.

I recently upgraded to latest level of Nortin Internet Security 2008 (when they prompted me to!), and since then I cannot receive email via Windows Mail from my Yahoo account. See error message above. Just spoke to Symantec who claim that NIS 2008 is fully compatible with Windows Mail. I'm not convinced as the problem only started with their upgrade, and all was working perfectly before.

Clicking 'Internet' icon gets me the message 'Internet Explorer has stopped working:". I tried 'restore' but it is not working either. I get the message 'an unspecified error occurred during system restore'. I scanned with AVG and the files it scanned are clean. I have a 'restore' DVD made by the computer vendor but when I stick it in the CD drive nothing happens. The computer is a 1 year old ACER with VISTA home premium preinstalled. View 4 Replies View RelatedMy college aged daughter's laptop formerly worked fine but now has odd networking issues which prevent the system from browsing the internet. The system correctly obtains a DHCP address and is able to ping by name, can correctly run AIM and Microsoft Sidebar but still can not connect the IE7.0 Browser to the internet.
I have read a ton of links here within the Network and Sharing group but I haven't seen anything quite like this before. Even though the I know better, I still went through the exercise of testing for DNS issues as well as the often suggested MTU test but there weren't any issues. I have completely shut off the Microsoft Firewall to no avail. The system came with a free trial of Norton Internet Security but after it expired, I loaded a Symantec/Norton Antivirus (NAV 10.1) and did a complete virus scan which produced nothing. I also did a full spyware scan which also didn't locate any serious malware......
it will almost be Windows 7 time which, as we well know. means it's time to say Hasta la Vista, Baby (and take Frank with you). In the meantime, as a registered and legal local OEM, I am going to stock up on XP licenses.

But everty time I try to launch FM 2009 with Steam my PC crashes and turns into a blue screen with some text. it says delete the software which you just used. so I tryed to delete FM 2009 but I got the same message. some more info:

About 2 months ago i upgraded my WLM suite. To my horror, they changed windows live mail from an application, back to a website email. So quickly system restored back and luckily was able to retrieve the old version which is an actual client installed on my PC as opposed to hotmail.com. Anyway, I've noticed with my old version of messenger, i am plagued with that annoying cant sign in troubleshoot thing and thought i might want to upgrade to the WLM 2009 messenger. THing is, with this new WLM suite range, i cannot upgrade messenger without upgrading my email client. Is there a trick to upgrade messenger without upgrading mail?

i have vista x64 home premium and a couple of days ago i noticed my internet said limited or no connectivity. So i reset the net adapter and did everything i could to repair it but still no luck. I unplugged the modem and hooked it directly up to my xbox and was able to play xbox live with full connectivity. also i can use it on my other computer with no problems.

It is driving me crazy. INFO OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. I am connecting through netgear router. (although it does not matter because internet is working) I have tried system restore and re-downloading IE and firefiox. No new updates have been made that i know of.
