The problem is that that wireless mouse does not work after the system resumes from sleep mode - I can use the mouse to wake the system but after the system resumes from sleep i am not able to use the wireless mouse - but after a hard reboot is done the wireless mouse works fine.

View 4 Replies View RelatedRunning Vista Home Ult 64. I have a USB mouse, which is listed in the DMgr as "HID compliant device". There are no drivers for the mouse, which is by Kingwin.
If I wake the computer with the keybaord, the mouse functions fine. If I wake the computer with the keyboard, the mouse no longer functions. Doesn't even function after a reboot. The only way to get it to function is to unplug it from it's USB port, and then back in again. Called ASUS, and they said I do have the right amperage coming from the PSU.
I can put the pc to sleep with either the sleep button on the keyboard or the on-screen sleep button but when the pc goes to sleep the keyboard and mouse USB connections go to sleep too. leaving me with no way to wake up the pc! I have tried using Vista 64's built in drivers for the mouse & keyboard and also tried downloading and installing the Microsoft software for the keyboard & mouse. Same problem. the light on the keyboard and mouse both turn off when sleep is utilized. I've tried changing the settings in the Power Options to enable the power button on the pc to turn on sleep instead of shut down. It does put the pc to sleep but when I try to wake the pc from sleep with the power button the pc acts like it was completely shutdown and tries to do a full boot which then results in the windows screen saying it didn't shut down right, "start normally"?
The pc then starts as normal but how do fix the sleep problem? I have no problem with another pc with Vista Ultimate and 2 other pcs with MCE2005 and the sleep status. The problem pc has all the latest Window updates, current bios, latest ATI 64 bit drivers for the graphics card. One possibility might be that the graphics card is designed for the new PCIe 2.0 but the board is the older PCIe standard. The graphics card is supposed to be "backwards compatible" with older PCIe slots but now I wonder if that could be the problem?
After waking the PC each morning the mouse (MS Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0) exhibits poor scrolling. A significant amount of wheel rotation will result in a jerky and slow scroll. Before sleep it is perfectly smooth. I have tried disabling the power save option - no improvement. I am using the latest drivers from MS (6.31.230.0 dated 26/11/2008) Vista Business SP2.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a very annoying problem with my Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth. When after putting my computer in sleep mode the bluetooth mouse does not reconnect. The only thing I can do is pull the batteries out of the mouse and put them back in and only then it decides to reconnect.
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit with the latest 64-bit MS Wireless IntelliMouse drivers. When logging onto the computer after completely shutting down the computer (not sleep mode) the mouse reconnects just fine.
I put my computer to sleep it immediatley wakes up without pressing any keys or moving mouse. Same with Hibernate... I press hibernate it starts saving all info shuts off (power light off) within 5 seconds it is starting up again.

I have been having trouble with my computer sleeping. I had just upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit from Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit. In 32 bit, sleep worked fine and there were no issues with sleep. I installed 64 bit to (mostly) take advantage of all 4 gb of my RAM. Now, I have all the latest drivers and everything is *almost* back to normal (sleep and TV tuner (Aver Volar) don't work). Now some of the sleep options in the control panel's power sleep applet are gone and when I make my compuer go into sleep, my computer will always resume with corrupt video (very many white lines all over the screen) and corrupt sound/audio (static sounding).
View 4 Replies View RelatedBecause my computer goes to sleep but will not wake (I talked about this before -- don't want to go over that again -- nothing works), I've been leaving it on all the time. I don't trust hypernation, since the sleep mode doesn't work properly. This problem may be caused by surges/glitches occuring via the cable modem (altho I really don't know what is causing it). This morning I worked on it for bout 1/2 a hour (it was working fine) but I came back a couple hours later to a frozen comp that I had to force boot via the surge protector (could not turn it off any other way). Luckily, I have Acronis backup which has saved this machine two times now within 4 months. I was able to boot using the Acronis rescue disk and restored a backup. is there any reason why I should not shut down everynite or when I am away from the machine for any length of time? I know shutdown is not recommended because Vista does things on its own like update programs such as Defender and Norton ISecurity (I turned off the auto d/l and install feature in windows -- I want to see what it plans to d/l and install, etc.) but I can do all the updates manually.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLike the title says, my PS/2 mouse refuses to work under Vista Home Premium 32bit. The same mouse works fine under Windows 2000 and Windows XP, but under Vista the mouse gets detected but I get the "Code 10", "This device cannot start." in the device manager.
I checked and there are no resource conflicts, or any other outstanding driver or hardware issues in the system. Also, the proper IRQ is assigned and everything looks fine, except for the fact that it does NOT work and I get the Code 10 code.
Like I said, the mouse works fine in Windows 2000/XP. Right now I'm using a spare wireless USB mouse under Vista until I get this figured out. There are no special drivers or software for this mouse since it's just a simple PS/2 mouse.
The system will not go into sleep mode. i have checked the settings in windows itself to make sure it is setup correctly and it is. I have also installed another OS Windows XP 64 Professional and that will go into sleep mode. I do not know what is causing it but when the sleep button on the start menu i clicked it will act like it is going to go into sleep mode then instantly wake itself up without actually reaching sleep.

Had a strange one, apparently my system resumed from sleep on it's own, below is a copy of the event id, pointing to the usb root hub as the wake source. This apparently occurred, last night, at 10:07 PM. However below that, it also states a sleep time of 1:56 am and wake time of 3:07 am. This is first time this has happened to me. I checked in my bios, nothing is set to wake the computer. No power on by alarm. I checked under device manager , and under the usb root hubs, on the power management tabs, there is not a check to allow them to wake the computer, also not a check under to allow them to power down to save energy............The system has resumed from sleep. I have a USB Logitech mouse. For reasons too lengthy to get into here, I want to hook it up via PS2.
So, I hooked it up with an adaptor. On bootup, the computer appears to recognize the mouse, as PS2 detection is enabled in the BIOS and the mouse's red light comes on.
However, when I get to my login page of Vista, the mouse doesn't work to control the pointer, and the red light is off. Even when I used the keyboard to just hit enter and log in as the "guest," the pointer will not respond when I got to the desktop.
Do I need to 'activate' the PS2 in Vista somehow?
i reinstalled windows yesturday and when i logged on initially it worked fine, however today after i logged on this morning it was fine but then it automatically installed drivers and now i cant use my keyboard but i can use my mouse. I tried restarting but all that did was make it impossible for me to actually log on.I've checked the bios and everythings good. Im completely bamboozled and i want to play some gamessss
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just installed Vista Ultimate 64 on my "new" compy. It's a dual processor machine running 2 AMD opteron 64 bit processors, 2GHz each. Everything is working correctly with the sole exception of my mouse. It's a Microsoft Trackball Optical USB. When I boot up the comp, the mouse doesn't work until I unplug it from the box then plug it back in. Then it works fine.

I can put the computer to sleep from from the shut-down menu manually--i.e., where you see "restart," "shut down," "sleep," etc. with no problem. But for some reason from my power plan option, which I set at control panel, it won't go into sleep automatically. The monitor will shut off, but everything else--hard drive, fan, etc.--keeps going.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with my mouse and the screen saver. I am using a laptop. I find that with the Kensignton USB mouse plugged in, my screen saver doesn't work. And yet if I unplug it from the usb port, the screen saver now works. As well, the mouse (when it is plugged in) wants to run the 'sidebar' down to the bottom on screens that have lots of data. I have to unplug the mouse and use my finger to move the mouse around.

When I am on a webpage and want to open something, I used to be able to double click on the left side of the mouse and it would open, all of a sudden this am, it doesn't work I have to click on the right side, then click on open.... to open anything, I am not sure where else to look, I checked the control panel but didn't find anything unusual under mouse.

I've been using windows vista 64-bit for a couple weeks now and, though I do find it fast and reliable, am having a huge problem -- the freaking OS seems to like locking up when it works with files of a big size (usually a few hundred MBs). It does not happen always, but pretty often -- to the point where now I save everything I have open before moving any file from a hard drive to the other or simply overwriting it. Its pretty annoying, it happens mainly with big files -- but has also happened a couple times with smaller ones, and I've noticed the pattern already - since every time it locks up like that the system is also doing some work in the hard drive. when it happens, all I can do i restart -
since the system dies completely, no mouse, no sound, no answer of any kind to anything I do but restarting and, once I do so, the system shows no signs of any error, so I can't diagnose whats happening in any way. Any ideas what might be happening? This is a high end system, so its not a lack of resources (amd 64bit dual core athlon 6000+, MSI K9A motherboard, video card is HIS RADEON HD 2900XT and hard drive is western digital 500GB, partitioned in two halves), and is honestly driving me crazy. Also sometimes it starts doing it at random, the system starts and about 2 minutes later it locks up with no reason -- and keeps on doing so several times..................

It’s still in dual screen mode as I can see a taskbar window fly to the second monitor. But I have to sleep and wake again to get it to come back on. Anyone else experience something like this? I don’t remember it ever happening before and was wondering if it could be the patch.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy wife was on the internet and suddenly System Pro popped up and started scanning warning my wife of a virus attack on her computer and wanted her to buy the AV Pgm for $49.95. She just clicked all the exits and got off of the internet and now she is locked out of her computer. We can't get system restore to work, Can't get safe mode to work, She has AVG 8 installed but cannot start it. Tried SFC /scannow but was denied access. Tried putting the Windows XP disk in to do a repair and was unable to get it to start. I think the only thing to do is reformat the HD and start over but her PC ignores the A drive and the dvd drives. I cannot get into it in order to re format it.

I have that file system on that for some reason so I don’t need to upgrade on that….but recently I had some files deleted and now I need to get them back. They are important for my official use and hold great importance. I know that there is software for recovery but since I have a FAT16 file system I guess that all won’t work on that.

When I ran Vista x86 Ultimate, I installed a small program that allowed me to double-click with middle mouse button. Now, with Vista x64 Ultimate, it doesn't work anymore.
Do someone know another small program to allow me that?
