I am having a problem with my mouse and the screen saver. I am using a laptop. I find that with the Kensignton USB mouse plugged in, my screen saver doesn't work. And yet if I unplug it from the usb port, the screen saver now works. As well, the mouse (when it is plugged in) wants to run the 'sidebar' down to the bottom on screens that have lots of data. I have to unplug the mouse and use my finger to move the mouse around.
View 4 RepliesThe other day i was sitting next to my mate who was making notes on his MacBook. The cool thing i saw on that Mac was that, when not in use for a few seconds, the screen saver or the power saver doesn't appear, but first the brightness of the screen got to its minimum and then the screen went into power saver mode.
Is there a way to make my Vista do that as well? So instead of a screen saver, it would just turn the brightness to its lowest point and after a few minutes, it would go completely dark to save energy?
I seem to be having some trouble with my screen saver. I have the picture viewer as my preferred screen saver but it doesn't seem to work at all. The preview image shows that I should be seeing something, but when I click the "preview" button, the screen goes black and doesn't cycle through anything. It is as though the screen saver is activated, but not cycling. All other screen savers work except the picture viewer. I use a nvidia 9300 GE, which I just updated the drivers for about 2 days ago.

i reinstalled windows yesturday and when i logged on initially it worked fine, however today after i logged on this morning it was fine but then it automatically installed drivers and now i cant use my keyboard but i can use my mouse. I tried restarting but all that did was make it impossible for me to actually log on.I've checked the bios and everythings good. Im completely bamboozled and i want to play some gamessss
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just installed Vista Ultimate 64 on my "new" compy. It's a dual processor machine running 2 AMD opteron 64 bit processors, 2GHz each. Everything is working correctly with the sole exception of my mouse. It's a Microsoft Trackball Optical USB. When I boot up the comp, the mouse doesn't work until I unplug it from the box then plug it back in. Then it works fine.

When I am on a webpage and want to open something, I used to be able to double click on the left side of the mouse and it would open, all of a sudden this am, it doesn't work I have to click on the right side, then click on open.... to open anything, I am not sure where else to look, I checked the control panel but didn't find anything unusual under mouse.

I have the power settings to never put computer or screen to sleep and there is no screen saver setup. When I leave my computer alone for awhile the screen goes black. This never happened with Vista when setup this way why is Windows 7 doing this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having a very wierd issue with vista's screen saver. So basically when I leave the comp idle it goes into screen saver then turns off the monitor after 15 mins. Sometimes, more often than not, I come back and move the mouse and hit a few keys on the keyboard and nothing. The monitor wont come out of standby I try turning it off and back on, and nothing. I have the latest drivers for everything in my system and I checked the power management settings and they both are able to wake the computer up. I have a G15 keyboard and I keep the leds on and when this happens the leds are off and the lazer for the mouse is off too.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had Windows Vista 64 for 2 Months now and of that period of time it worked soundly for about 2 Weeks. I am NOT an irresponsible User, I don't just delete Data, I know a little something about computing, I don't visit or download from dubious sites etc.
1) Without any reason software suddently doesn't work.
a) I installed a Antivirussoftware - after 3 Weeks it suddently didn't work any more (Kaspersky) I couldn't reinstall it.
b) I installed a new Antivirussoftware - after 5 days it didn't work anymore.
c) 4 days later I started to get errormessages "Windows Defender doesn't work any more" - "Windows Hostprocess doesn't work anymore"
I use my pictures as a screen saver, but it won't ever turn off, I don't want it to sleep because it takes to long to boot up again, any other suggestions? I have Vista. I didn't have this problem with windows xp. I want into preferences and just told it when to stop the screen saver.

Also, when it installs, even when I select Windows/System32 it doesn't install there and goes to the 64 folder. After running for several hours (overnight, for e.g.), it would freeze on one picture. Usually moving the mouse would eventually close the screen saver and I'd return to the desktop.
I then changed to a regular screen saver, Mystify. Usually this isn't a problem, but today when I moved the mouse, the screen saver froze. I couldn't soft boot, actually had to shut down manually. This is the second time this has happened.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot get group policy to initiate the screensaver on one of our vista business sp1 machines. I've done extensive research and found only solutions that revolve around updating the HID-compliant mouse driver[COLOR=blue ! important][COLOR=blue ! important][/COLOR][/COLOR]. Now, the machines we have do not use wireless mice and all of them are nearly identical. I've looked through the event viewer but cannot find any sort of task that comes from group policy that locks the machine. I did find eventID 124 "Task triggered by locking the workstation" but its not clear that this is coming from group policy. Regardless, the machine in question never has a log in the event viewer about this task.

After a while however this feature stopped working. Then after a double virus/spyware attack I decided to make a fresh installation of Vista. However, the slideshow feature still will not work.
