How Can I Transfer My System Information To My Profile
May 15, 2010
I want to transfer my System Information from my Hardware Diagnostics page to this Forum under MY Profile. There is no Copy and Paste button to do this. ( only save and print and the print button does not work either. !) I saved it to MY Documents . Will C and P work from the Documents program?
so I want to get a good mid to high range card. I have a slim/low profile case. Is it possible for me to move my mATX mobo to a regular midtower atx case? This is the case I want: Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Storm Sniper SGC-6000-KKN1-GP Black ABS Bezel, SECC Body ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases and if I wanted to put a good psu in would it be fine? like a 600 watt. Would that be too much for my mobo? or could i put more case fans in? thanks. and if you dont mind, please dont suggest building a whole new computer. before i actually do that im gonna stick with this one until i get my new parts.
I bought my wife a new Vista Home Premium notebook to replace her old XP one. When I used the Easy Transfer prg and the Companion, everything worked EXCEPT that her profile from the XP machine was created on the Vista one. By that I mean the Admin Profile on the XP was Nancy. The Admin on the Vista one was also named Nancy. Yet when the Easy Transfer happened, it created a second Nancy profile. One that had what I wanted to be in th enew one's Admin profile.
This was posted on Vista.general.discussion for a couple of days ago. I have an old system disk with XP which I moved to the E-drive when I installed Vista on a new disk. Everything of the OS on the old XP disk is deleted with the exception of this System Volume Information. I?ve taken the ownership and is now allowed to look into the folder. But no way of deleating it. No usable answer was given to the question other than moving my files to the C disk while formatting E. that might be the end solution. But does anybody know of a trick with or without editing the registry.
I have a 198 GB HDD that has only ~3GB of space left. I cannot delete any more data, i already did disk cleanup and deleted any non-critical files. I did a disk analazyz and found that the system volume information folder is taking up an enormous 89 GB of space that's almost as large as the files I put on there (107GB). This is my server machine (wndows server 2008) so there is not any system restore to reduce. Is there anyway to safely reduce the space that this takes up.
A quick peak into the file tree shows that just one file takes up over 67 GB of space.
I have just recently done a full wipe of my hard-drive with Windows Vista x32 'Ultimate' on it and came across this issue in reguards of my 'RAM (Memory)' being lower than what it shows when I boot my computer up. I have 8gb RAM in which hasn't been tampered with, and ran fine before the reinstall of my OS took place and now, both System Information and Diaxlog show my RAM as *2302mb* which I am totally confused about :/ ere is my log from Diaxlog:......
I believe my computer got infected with a virus. Windows Defender detected "TrojanDwonlaoder:Win32/Bredolab.AA" and "Trojan:Win32/Hiloti.gen!D". It claims to have successfully removed these. I restart my computer. When I log on, I get Data Execution Protection notifications about Rundl32 and the like. I also notice that "flvencoder.exe" is running and consuming 30% CPU. I did install this program (Gmax FLV encoder) and perhaps it contained a virus (though the program worked). I also don't recall that it should have started upon logging on. None of this really matters, I don't think. I did a System Restore to a point before I installed Gmax FLV encoder (3 days prior). The restore completes successfully. Upon logging into my account, I get see the "Preparing Desktop" message and know that this is not good news. My user profile was not loaded. All of the data is there though. What I first tried to do was logging into Safe Mode, and setting the reg. keys such that my old profile is loaded instead of a temporary one...................................
Let it be known that if you purchase the above OS, you will not be able to transfer any of your e-mail messages or contacts from your old 32 bit system to the new 64 bit system. Even if you attempt to download Outlook Express, it is 32 bit and will not download and instal, therefore, you can't imnport your Outlook files into Outlook Express to convert their file extension to something compatible with Windows Mail, which is the new e-mail program.
OH, before I forget, I want to thank Microsoft for the laser/wireless mouse and keyboard configuration. My Device Manager does not recognize the keyboard as a wireless keyboard, instead it ;ists it as a "HID", (Human Input Device", or dome crap like that, and my mouse and keyboard continually freeze.
I am attempting to transfer files & settings using the Belkin Easy Transfer cable from an XP computer to a Vista computer. All starts well by showing that the two computers are connected. But after finding the files and settings and providing the amount of data to be transferred, it starts gathering information but then shows a flashing disconnection icon in the upper right of both computers' transfer windows and freezes. This happens at a different place each time, but early in the procedure (after about 10 minutes). Would anyone have any advice? I have done everything by the book, as far as I'm aware.
I am going to replace my laptop HDD, and was thinking to also upgrade to win 7 on the new disc. How to migrate all of my files and programs to the new disc under windows 7? I don't have another computer to use for transferring, just one laptop and one disc at a time. should I create a disc image in vista that could be used on the new drive?

I have a notebook computer and my wife has a desktop. We both use Vista.. How can we share our outlook information so calendar appointments and contacts show up on both of our calendars?
On my WMP, when I right-click on a song and then click on find album info, it says "You must be connected to the Internet to update information about the Audio CD you have selected" even though I am connected. I don't understand why it is saying this. Is this common?
I'd like to dual boot my PC with two, maybe three installations of Vista, one for my regualr production stuff and a second for playing/testing. I know that with msconfig, I can choose which one is my default installation, or how long I get to wait before it defaults to the default and there are other options there as well, except to rename it. So, how can I rename my installations so when I'm given the opportunity at boot time to select an installation, I know which one I'm choosing?
The only thing I can tell you is my screen says techinical information: ***STOP: 0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF8000222AB81, 0xFFFFFA60017EE798, 0xFFFFFA60017EE170). System is running windows vista 64 bits. Anyone have a clue on how to fix this. Comuter wont start up in safe mode.
On some websites and forums there is a remember me function where the site remembers if you want to stay logged in without you having that site open all the time or myspace.com where the remember me function can be used so you dont have to put your email address in everytime you log on. My query is on vista home premium 32bit which im using after each reboot it forgets any information you had told the pc, so on each site including here i have to type in my user name or email address every time.Is this a security issue with vista or just an error.I obviously dont want it to remember my passwords but id like not to have to type in my email address for every login screen. Finally if I leave the pc on all day I can leave and visit any site and it remembers but once a reboot is done its back to square one.
I've changed the security settings in IE7 to a custom level, and now I get the notification bar saying "Your current security settings put your computer at risk. etc." I know this can be disabled via gpedit.mcs but of course Vista Home doesn't include that feature. So, a couple questions. Nobody here seems to know much about getting GPedit to work in Vista Home, so I won't even touch that. However, I did see mention of the Microsoft speadsheet that lists all the various group policy settings and their corresponding registry entries. I found the "Disable Security Settings Check Feature" entry, but now I'm not sure what to do with it.
I can navigate to the Microsoft folder in regedit, but that's where the trail ends. Do I need to create a key or something? I don't have much experience with the registry, and I really want this notification bar gone...........
Is there a way to perform an analysis of the fragmentation level of a drive in Vista Home Premium? I miss being able to see a graphic representation of a disk's fragmentation. Also, previous versions of Windows provided the user a progress bar than informed them of the status of the defrag program when it was running. It appears that Home Premium runs in the background and one never gets a "defragmentation complete" dialog box with options to see a report. I've tried running it manually and not closing the Run dialog box, but it seems to run for hours without any feedback to the user.
I am having difficulty connecting to the wireless network that my apartment building provides. I just purchased a new computer with Windows Vista. On my old computer, which had Windows XP, I had no problems. All XP required of me was to enter the password that my landlord provided to me in order to access the secured wireless network. However, now that I have Vista, I try to connect and it asks me for: 1. Username, 2. Password and 3. Log on Domain. The only information I have is the password which worked on XP before. When I enter only that, I get a message saying "Additional Log on Information Required" or something to that effect. I don't have any more information than that.
A lot of times when I am surfing the web I come to a site that has an information search box. When I click inside of it there is often a window that pops up showing all my previous queries and entries. What is the name of that kind of box, and more importantly, how do I delete the contents of the box??
I do remember this was an issue when I switched from XP to Vista. I solved it then, but don't remember the solution. Now I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 64-bit and Office 2007 Standard and the issue is there again. All my received faxes are in My Documents/Fax/Inbox and those that I sent are in My Documents/Fax/SentItems. When I run the Windows Fax and Scan app, I can see all the faxes from my Inbox, but none from the sent items. Also, the ones in the inbox have all the wrong info in the list: the sender for all is Microsoft Fax and Scan Team, subject is Welcome to Windows Fax and Scan, the date is today, pages 1 and fax account Microsoft. so that I can see all my received and sent faxes and with correct information?
I have been trying to find information on hp easy setup frontend but not having to much luck on finding out what is is, do I need it and if not how to remove it if possible or if it harm my HP Pavilion computer if I do remove it.
Since I have my new laptop with Vista I have posted some data to my Quicken Premium 2008 program but now when I download the data to a disk and try to restore it to a backup computer which has Windows XP the backup does not recognize my disk or any information on it. Went back to the Vista computer and was able to read the disk on this machine. Do I need a special program or download to be able to transfer my Quicken data from Vista computer to my XP computer?
I have added a signature to my emails. How do I display a picture of an object under the signature information. I am not talking about attaching a picture to open when you click the .jpg in the attachment line at the top of the email. The picture I want to use is a .jpg file.
In Vista when I go into my computer it displays the space used on the hdds and the remaining space, but for removeable storge it does not automatticaly display it under the device name. Is there anyway I can get this working as it works in win 7 and not vista?
There were plenty of reasons to avoid moving to Vista, but I've done so under duress: my laptop died and Vista is the only 64-bit system installed on PCs these days. Unfortunately, I CANNOT set the program called Windows Live Hotmail as my default mail program. Under the topic of Hotmail and Vista, the only postings on this are dated to 2007. Surely someone has configured a system with this revised version of Hotmail. It runs on this computer, but is not recognized as a setting for default.
I DO NOT want Windows Live Mail. I DO NOT want Outlook, I DO NOT want Microsoft Windows... Been there, done that. Does anyone have a work around, or must I strip Vista and load XP? So far I've wasted ten days trying to deal with Vista. This is about to push me over the edge and back to XP!
