Has anyone else been getting random firefox crash reports lately? And when i click restart firefox it wont, it keeps opening the crash report dialog box. I have to reboot the system for firefox to work again. This has happened to me twice in the last 2 days.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThe other night I come home from work late. I go to check my email and non-sense...but can't. Internet Explorer starts to crash..a lot. So, I found someone to send me Firefox the next day (I couldn't keep IE open long enough to do anything, half the time it didn't even open before the crash msg came up.) Still FF crashes. I don't know what the problem is..or was, it seems to be doing ok right now, first time I've actually been able to keep my browser open long enough to do something..I'm afraid to close it in case it doesn't work again. I just recently overclocked my cpu (Amd athlon64 3800+)stock 2.4 GHz, to 2.83GHz. I have gotten my processor up to this lvl before without facing these issues, my firefox will crash every now and then and azureus does crash every few minutes... This never used to be a problem but i may have done something wrong in overclocking this time. I have ddr400 (200mhz).*2x1gb sticks* The fsb clock is at 257mhz and multiplier is 11. I maximized the voltage for my cpu so that it can run. My dram was configured so that its at 180mhz(with overclocked cpu it is boosted back to around 200-205mhz, checked with cpu-z.) Any idea what im doing wrong or i have missed? do i need to change the voltage for my ram? I tried to change that *other multiplier thing, supposidly stock is x5, i put down to x4, no difference....

The motherboard bios is recognizing all 3GB and the memory has tested fine when only 1GB or 2GB is installed on it's own. The memory is all the same - Corsair - same product line and everything. Vista OS is up to date and I am using the latest bios for my motherboard. I will paste the system specs here....

Microsoft, which once predicted businesses would adopt Vista at twice the rate they moved to XP, has scaled back its ambitions and these days talks a lot about how long the adoption curve is for businesses when it comes to new operating systems.
On Vista Home Premium, I've set Chkdsk to run but each time it hangs about three quarters of the way through step 5, at the same cluster each time. I've run the harddisk tests (SMART, surface scan etc) from the computer recovery console and it passes every test OK. If this a physical problem with the drive or a file system one? If it's the latter why can't Chkdsk fix it? It's a new computer should I go through the hassle of returning it to the manufacturer?
P.S. History: it's a brand new Lenovo laptop. When I first switched it on, it gave me that "Vista didn't shut down properly last time" screen, but apart from that everything seemed OK until I got most of the way through all the security updates, cleaning up all the bundled software etc and Windows Update blankly refused to install SP1. I tried a system restore and that told me there was a disk error and to run Chkdsk. Chkdsk refused to run (something about the drive being locked) and in the end I did a factory reset. This is OK in that now all the updates have installed and there are no more errors, but I wanted to double check the disk, so invoked Chkdsk and... see above.
Whenever i log into my pc i get a warning from Windows Security Center sayin that AVG anti virus is turned off, when avg is actually running and the tray icon is showing in the system tray. View 9 Replies View Relatedit's getting kinda boring now surely those nuggets over at microsoft are aware of all the problems with vista since i changed over i have made it a point to make sure i only use vista compatable hardware and software but that doesn't seem to help as the only stable software that runs(without crashing) was programmed for XP now that is just silly and a software company's excuse is ''we had to rush it onto the market'' so what does that mean, did they not even test their software now wishing i got a mac instead as microsoft and software company's need to pull their fingers out and start doing things properly i would rather wait 6 months for a game or app that actually works than spend the money to find out that it doesn't do what it says on the box all this due to the fact that not one app or game designed with vista in mind will run without crashing repeatedly over and over again so what does vista do other than try to look good not alot just gives you a headache as you wonder yet again why your computer has either crashed or just shut down what seemed to be an app or game that didn't seem to have a problem when it all of a sudden ends the app or game it even closed chess on me as it encountered a problem i understand that these things do happen but not on this scale this is just to often and microsoft really need a shoe put up there rear for not addressing these issue's sooner.

However, every time I build up my list of media I want to add onto it and I click the "Sync Now" button, WMP crashes. It begins to sync the first few songs, however after 4 songs I get an error message that states that "WMP is not responding". I have tried to do this same thing with different media, but I still have my WMP crashing. I have checked Microsoft for any updates, but it seems that I have kept my computer in good condition (I've only had this computer for about 1 month now). The WMP crashing issue is a recurring problem for me so now I'm at my last resort. What do I do?

Factory re-installation from hidden hdd partition after crash complete reformat of C: PLUS installation of all updates incl SP1. AVG fully updated and scanned daily, ditto Ad-Aware and Spybot. IE7 is apparently corrupt, certainly giving major problems. The "quick-start" icon, when right-clicked to "run as Administrator" yields the message "This program is unsigned, do you really want to run" (starts normally when run as "user"). Plus (just one of many problems both as User or Administrator) click a "print" link on a website, IE7 greys out, looks for a "solution on the web", then restarts ...and yes, I have both Java and Activex latest versions, loaded).
As a work-around I'm using Firefox (which does EXACTLY what I expect of a browser, and I used to do in IE6). IE7 is supposedly "core" to Vista OS, can't help feeling that something is seriously wrong, and I may have OS problems as yet undiscovered. Is there a way of reloading just IE7, or are there registry tweaks to correct?
For some reason, Vista crashes as soon as a DVD (hardware or virtual) starts to play (BCCode e3). LiveTV and AVI play without any problem.I deinstalled some programmes, one of which was Nero 6 Express.This Nero was incompatible, but wanted to try it anyway. Although i cannot pinpoint the cause of the crashes, but i suspect my Nero experiment. Anybody any 'serious' clue of how to fix this?

Yesterday my computer was running just fine, but now, all of the sudden, it seems like it doesnt want to cooperate.
Here's a small list of thumbnails to make telling my story a whole lot easier:
1) On startup - nothing appears out of the ordinary..
2) Starting firefox results in nothing but a blank page.
3) Closing firefox results in error.
4) Opening up Binary Newsreader = errors.

Another application I'm having trouble installing is Flash CS4, It keeps preparing the install files to a temp folder and then tells me that it needs to close and to check the destination drives disk space/ write protection settings.
(note the destination drive has over 400gb left on it!)
firefox or ie 32 bit does not work, it wont connect to the internet, neither will aim. however i can go on websites with ie x64 bit version. but i cant go to Internet and such because flash doesnt work with the 64 bit version.

I cannot download anything using firefox or IE. whenever i do try to download the download window comes up and downloads all the way. I do not use desktop as the place where files are placed so it doesnt get cluttered, but it is in a folder on the desktop.
When it is done downloading there is nothing in the folder. It will be there while downloading ( and i can do anything with it), but when the download finishes the file dissapears and is unable to be found anywhere. It is not hidden or anything. I've done full advanced computer searches and the file cannot be found. I have AVG, but it is disabled.
I am in a few college classes and another problem that i am having is that when i try to take my homework off the site (usually in a .zip or .doc format), i have an error that comes up saying Cannot open C:UsersRyan'sAppdataLocalTempStudentDownload.zip (or .doc) this is a HUGE!!!problem as i cannot afford to run back and forth to the college everyday trying to get my homework done.
