I recently had to reinstall vista (too many problems to mention!) but now it has switched my @ " | keys when the shift key is pressed. I only want to return them to what they were before and have tried installing the english keyboard but that hasn't helped.

have gone mental.
They replace shortcuts and after a reboot the non-working/"bad" keys change so its a different set of letters.
Sometimes F will open find computer while other times it wont,and sometimes L will lock the pc while other times it wont.
Ive unistalled,reinstalled,updated the drivers.Restored the system to two days ago.
Check all language settings.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI type about 40 words per minute, but when typing on my home computer it does not enter all the keys that I hit. It is no particular key but more like there is a micro-second stall in the computer somehow that prevent the keyboard stroke from being recognized. I notice it most while using internet explorer probably because that is what I use most, but have had it happen while using other programs. After typing a page or so, I look to the screen to find a dozen or so misspelled words due to this problem. I have Windows Vista as the operating system.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Logitech MX 5500 Revolution keyboard and mouse combo. As you may or may not know, the keyboard has special vista shortcut keys, such media center, 3d flip, gadgets, photo gallery etc. Anyways, I've noticed that these shortcut keys don't work, until I open up the logitech software that configures and calibrates all the buttons on the hardware. So pretty much once I've opened up the program these keys work, but on startup and before I open up the software they dont. I've installed the drivers and I've checked my msconfig to see wether or not the service is switched off on startup, and it is on.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite A300 VO1 on which some keys are displaying the wrong symbol. Several of these keys are connected to the symbols above the numbers on the keyboard that require the shift button to be pressed i.e.. Shift + 2 should result in @ (ampersand) but I get the ? symbol ! what I can do to correct this? The computer is nearly new. It is running Vista Home Premium.

1. some of my keyboard keys produce the wrong symbols! if i press:
*shift+numeric key 2, i get quotation mark (") -- i should get this "@"symbol, right?
*shift+single quotation mark('),i get the commercial at(@)instead of the(")quotation mark.
*shift+numeric key 3, i get the pound sign(?)instead of the number sign ()
*shift+(`) i don't know the name of the symbol but the key is located above the(tab)key, i get this symbol"?"--instead of the tilde sign"~"(well, i think that's what it's said in microsoft word's insert symbol)
note: the keyboard confusion only effects the "number 2", "number 3", '(single quotation) key, and the tilde (~) key; BUT only when they are combine with SHIFT key.
2. keyboard shortcuts are not functioning, but this second problem happens ONLY on windows explorer. (it does not effect microsoft word,notepad, or internet explorer):
*ctrl+a -- so i can't select all files in the folder/window explorer.
*ctrl+t -- so i can't cut files to put them somewhere else.
*ctrl -- so i can't pick multiple files, randomly.
this second problem is very troublesome cause i cant move or copy multiple file!
I was wondering if it was possible to create shortcuts so that I could use my keyboard to toggle between power configs on my laptop. For instance, using my FUNC + F11 to go from POWER SAVER to MAX PERFORMANCE, etc.

My wired keyboard had a power button, this one has no power button...you know that you can shutdown windows with a push of a button. Well, since I can reassign keys I need to 'browse' to the command vista uses to shutdown. Any one know it ?

However the connection is always dropping, and usually won't connect after coming out of sleep, it can't be a problem with the router because there are other computers not vista that have no connection problems. View 8 Replies View RelatedVista Ultimate - 32 bit SP1 I have a Maxtor external firewire disk drive and it worked just fine until I installed my firewire camera to capture video. When I do, I lose the maxtor drive (which holds the captured video) and have to unplug/replug the Maxtor to get the drive recognized. How can I keep both devices operational since I only need the firewire camera when I have video to capture?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to connect to the network in my shared house with no problem via the wireless but at some point it just dropped off and was doing so intermittently, then it refused to connect point blank. The router is in the room next door to mine and the computer can see it is there with 100% 'reception' but it cannot connect to it. It works fine via the ethernet cable that I have but not wirelessly. In addition to this I can connect to an unsecured network wirelessly that occassionally becomes available which has less reception than the one I am trying to access. I don't understand why I can connect to one but not the other. I have not been able to connect wirelessly to this network for months now, and whilst the ethernet is working fine using it defies the point of having a laptop and wanting to move it around.

has no problems. I also have a Dell Studio 1555 laptop (running Vista 64
Home Premium) connected to the router by wifi and it works fine most of the
time. Every once in a while, maybe every 3 or 4 days) the lapto shows that
it is disconnected from the network. When I try to reconnect it never
reconnects. The only solution I have found is to reboot and then connection
to the network always is fine.
I have a second router and tried it and have the exact same problem so it is

I have problem with dropped letters in IE?? When I type on IE …letters are dropped. nly in IE though..Word & Notepad is fine…..this is sooo annoying!! I can't find any resolutions. I tried disabling all the add-ons and still don't work!

View 6 Replies View RelatedAs I am working on the computer (Sony VAIO Laptop)(Windows Vista Home Edition), I hit the arrow key several times. Doesn't really matter which one, the result is the same. Just for argument sake, lets say I hit the left arrow key several times. The computer will act as if the key is stuck, and will scroll to the left. Using the up and down arrow keys, I can go up or down with out a problem. When I hit the right arrow button, I don't go to the right. The only way I can "unstick" the left arrow button is to hit again.
This issue happens with all the arrow keys, so I figure that perhaps it is a preference somewhere in Vista. I thought it might be the stickys, but I checked and they are off.
I have moved and have lost my cd key for both Vista 32 and 64 bit. I still have the media just not the CD-Key. I was apart of the beta and was send both copies with the cdkeys. Is there a lookup tool or an email address that I can use to try and recover my two cd-keys?

Following uninstall, my DVD drive no longer worked (I corrected that issue) and my network no longer works. I am wired into a router, and also wireless on the same computer. Bother worked well, until the uninstall. Now, I can't even see the router, even though I'm wired to it. The wireless connection successfully connects to the router (or so it seems), but also cannot see the router.I suspect there is a registry error (or key corruption), but cannot find which keys are corrupt.Has anyone ever had this problem? Again, I corrected the DVD issue, but cannot identify the network issue.

View 7 Replies View Relatedis there a way to make a script on your G15 keys for the different options on your Nano Suit? Hopefully there is or you guys can point me to the right direction. Right now, I am using the "ALT" key to open up the Suit Menu and from there, I pick my mouse to the different choices you have (Strenght, Armor, Cloak, Speed or Weapon) but, in a heated battle, I would love to use some of the other key my G15 has for a quick use of any of these choices w/o wasting valuable time. I could do with the Sci-Fi Alien part of the game or the need to hit the KPA a few times before they die, but for the most part, the game is fun and it makes for a good laugh when you try to kill a KPA from a distance with the suppressor.

Live Mail also seems to have a focus issues & i'm not sure which is to blame. when you attempt to move (up/down) folders in the folder pane using keyboard - if there is news/mail download, the folder loses focus to the mail/message window - if not it takes two presses to activate the folder. again this peculiar behavior makes it impossible to navigate with keys

Curiously enough my cd drives work (more or less) but appear as "unkown" in the task manager, and I'm unable to install the correct drivers..., iTunes, WinMedia, all sorts of programes are complaining that something is wrong with my cd drives.
