MS tech repaired disk failure by reinstall of Ultimate. Attempted to reload HP printer but install aborted due to missing registry keys. Reload was attempted using CD and HP driver software download....same results. Missing keys depicted were: slbcsp.dll, sccbase.dll, gpkcsp.dll, Enum.

but i still cannot delete a registry key/subfolders that i need.
i am trying to install an ESET Nod32 AV upgrade but i cannot overwrite its registry keys in the local machine i believe, therefore it doesnt install correctly.
I have a program that worked successfully for quite some time and just recently it stopped working. I tracked it down to a reading of a registry key located in HKLMSoftware where I get an error from the Win32 API `RegOpenKeyEx' which returns with a value of 2 (that is to say there is no such entries). But there is such an entry so this is very puzzling.What is happening? Why was it working before and not now? The same program works fine under another vista machine which is more or less configured the same way.Of course disabling UAC works but that's out of the question.

1 saving registry keys.
2. Windows backup.
3. Widows easy transfer.
Everything is fine but the signatures. They look grayed out and when I click on them Windows mail crashes immediately.
I purchased the Upgrade version. I have XP service pack 3 installed right now. I know there's a work around that allows the upgrade version to be used for a clean install. I was wondering if upgrading the normal way over XP will basically be the same as a clean install. Will it wipe my drive clean or will there still be remnants left such as drivers, programs, registry keys, etc? Also, if I ever wanted to do a clean install, which shouldn't be a problem legally since I own XP, would it basically be the same as doing so with the full version? Another question I have is about manually maintaining my system. I've read that Vista isn't like XP in that I don't need registry cleaners or spyware cleaners. Is this true? I have a habit of using these things frequently to keep my comp as speedy as possible.
Not much, just Auslogics Boost Speed, AVG, and zone alarm. Those are my mainstays. I also have ad-aware and CCleaner just in case. Would AVG and zone alarm still be good programs to use? I find that they do very well in keeping my system protected.I must admit, I was among those that talked about Vista like it was crap and I haven't even tried it much. It was mostly from what I've heard. It wasn't until I read that article at tweakguides.com, ( TweakGuides.com - Vista Annoyances Resolved ) about Vista that I decided to take the plunge and go for it. Made me feel like an idiot but it gave me the true info without the BS.

Curiously enough my cd drives work (more or less) but appear as "unkown" in the task manager, and I'm unable to install the correct drivers..., iTunes, WinMedia, all sorts of programes are complaining that something is wrong with my cd drives.
i think i accidentally deleted a shell registry that makes my windows explorer open up new windows all the time without a option to open within a window but always to open a new window whenever i double click a folder. How can i resolve this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just recieved my new desktop from CyberPowerPC last Thursday. On Monday morning, Windows could not start up due to a missing or corrupt registry. However, Sunday night when I shut off the PC, it was still working perfectly fine. When I turn on the PC, this is the screen I get: The only options given to me afterwards are 3 safe modes, attempt to reboot with the last known good setting, or start Windows normally. Choosing any of those options just gives me the missing/corrupt registry screen again and sends me back to those 5 choices, OR screen just goes black and nothing happens.
I've tried to use the CyberPowerPC Windows recovery disk that came with the PC, setting boot priority in the BIOS to CD/DVD drive to the top. Screen tells me to press any key to boot from CD, then this screen appears: Once it finishes loading, this appears: But afterwards, the screen becomes blank, and I see the monitor actually darkening. The numlock light on my keyboard darkens, meaning that turned off or something too. Here is what CyberPower has told me to do: "The error message you are seeing is a corrupted Windows system file that would require the operating system to be reinstalled. This can be done by booting directly from the Cyberpower Recovery disc. Make sure theoptical drive is set as the first boot device in the BIOS and tap the ENTER key as the computer starts to boot the computer off the disc rather than the hard drive." But of course, that isn't working...The PC is still new, so I have no problem with losing any data if it comes to that.
I have been having serious difficulty getting my laptop to start in the last few months but have usually been able to solve the problems for a while until they come back but now I am faced with a new boot issue that I cannot fix.
When I turn on the laptop, after about 5 minutes I get the message "windows failed to start because the system registry file is missing or corrupt" and gives this location windowssystem32configsystem and also status: oxc000000f. I am instructed to boot from the vista dvd and repair windows, startup problems or whatever but when I try this I get the exact same message described above.
I have had a lot of startup problems recently but they have always been solved either by booting from the dvd and reparing startup problems, or more commonly, by running the chkdisk which would generally have my laptop running well for a week or so before new problems occurred. I've searched the web but people keep suggesting booting from the vista dvd which as I said isnt working. No matter what I try I get the same message, safe mode etc will also not work.

I tried nortons WinDoctor to help fix any problems with missing shortcuts, missing shared files, etc etc and my pc wouldnt startup the next time! It used to work really well with XP and never did XP not start after WinDoctor,it only speeded the pc up,in my experience.Im reluctant to "try" any other registry fixing software,unless there are some well known Vista registry fixing software that someone can recommend in here?

Win 7 compatible - have used this and deleted all 1200 entries it found. It makes a backup - been running for several hours and reboots with no probs. Also working fine so far on my Vista x64 and Win 7 x86 installs. After cleaning you need to shut the app. and reopen it for it to find it's backups. (Easy to find them by hand - it can compress them to.7z files, too ). Have used their regdefrag a lot - identical scans and results to the Auslogics and Glary versions- so use whichever defragger you already have. WARNING: not recommended to defrag registry across drives.
Currently using Vista 64 Home Premimum. Can anyone recommend a good registry cleaner? I tried PCTOOLS and it promptly wrecked my registry.

I can do a scan, clean up all the errors and then shut down and start up and I have a new 20 registry error list and most or all of the errors relate to "bad path for the value" and its windows files that seem to be at fault. I don't understand why Microsoft operating system would create registry errors on a startup, before anything has been installed etc. is RegistryBooster misleading me or what. I am running win7 but it did the same thing on vista home premium so I think the question is valid for this group.

have gone mental.
They replace shortcuts and after a reboot the non-working/"bad" keys change so its a different set of letters.
Sometimes F will open find computer while other times it wont,and sometimes L will lock the pc while other times it wont.
Ive unistalled,reinstalled,updated the drivers.Restored the system to two days ago.
Check all language settings.
As I am working on the computer (Sony VAIO Laptop)(Windows Vista Home Edition), I hit the arrow key several times. Doesn't really matter which one, the result is the same. Just for argument sake, lets say I hit the left arrow key several times. The computer will act as if the key is stuck, and will scroll to the left. Using the up and down arrow keys, I can go up or down with out a problem. When I hit the right arrow button, I don't go to the right. The only way I can "unstick" the left arrow button is to hit again.
This issue happens with all the arrow keys, so I figure that perhaps it is a preference somewhere in Vista. I thought it might be the stickys, but I checked and they are off.
I have moved and have lost my cd key for both Vista 32 and 64 bit. I still have the media just not the CD-Key. I was apart of the beta and was send both copies with the cdkeys. Is there a lookup tool or an email address that I can use to try and recover my two cd-keys?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running windows Vista 32 bit, and everything was working great until I uninstalled Norton 360. Following uninstall, my DVD drive no longer worked (I corrected that issue) and my network no longer works. I am wired into a router, and also wireless on the same computer. Bother worked well, until the uninstall. Now, I can't even see the router, even though I'm wired to it. The wireless connection successfully connects to the router (or so it seems), but also cannot see the router.I suspect there is a registry error (or key corruption), but cannot find which keys are corrupt.Has anyone ever had this problem? Again, I corrected the DVD issue, but cannot identify the network issue.
View 5 Replies View Relatedis there a way to make a script on your G15 keys for the different options on your Nano Suit? Hopefully there is or you guys can point me to the right direction. Right now, I am using the "ALT" key to open up the Suit Menu and from there, I pick my mouse to the different choices you have (Strenght, Armor, Cloak, Speed or Weapon) but, in a heated battle, I would love to use some of the other key my G15 has for a quick use of any of these choices w/o wasting valuable time. I could do with the Sci-Fi Alien part of the game or the need to hit the KPA a few times before they die, but for the most part, the game is fun and it makes for a good laugh when you try to kill a KPA from a distance with the suppressor.

Live Mail also seems to have a focus issues & i'm not sure which is to blame. when you attempt to move (up/down) folders in the folder pane using keyboard - if there is news/mail download, the folder loses focus to the mail/message window - if not it takes two presses to activate the folder. again this peculiar behavior makes it impossible to navigate with keys

View 7 Replies View RelatedI type about 40 words per minute, but when typing on my home computer it does not enter all the keys that I hit. It is no particular key but more like there is a micro-second stall in the computer somehow that prevent the keyboard stroke from being recognized. I notice it most while using internet explorer probably because that is what I use most, but have had it happen while using other programs. After typing a page or so, I look to the screen to find a dozen or so misspelled words due to this problem. I have Windows Vista as the operating system.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a computer I bought factory refurbished from a popular on-line retailer. I have a sticker on the side of the case with the product key on it. It is the official sticker with 5 groups of 5 letters and numbers. However, I ran SIW to check the numbers and they are different! What if I ever need this key? I guess the one SIW gives me is right but I don't know how to proceed. Have you heard of this? Is the one inside Windows from SIW correct? Here's what Brink posted on his tutorial. I followed these directions to check product key. It's not the product ID in control panel>system....that would be my first thought. Product Key Number I also ran this one and got the same thing as SIW gave me.
