I noticed in my msconfig, it still has all the apple programs like itunes and quicktime and bonjour etc in the list of services. Obviously because I got rid of them they dont work and it says unknown location but Im curious as to why they are still lurking around, since i did uninstalled them. Same with an old dvd ripper i tried out, now everytime i insert a dvd into my drive and the prompt menu comes theres still an option to use this uninstalled dvd program that has the blank icon next to it why wont it go away?

However, when I open "Send Mail" and type her name, the old address continually pops up. Mail seems to have an odd set of rules as to which email address it will use, unfortunately, I have no idea what these rules are.

I recently permanently deleted several e-mails from the deleted file and need to recover them. I have seen different software packages claiming to do this. I am not a Geek (no ofense) and just have basic computer skills. My question - are these softward applications easy to use or do you need to to have higher skill levels? Is is safe to download directly from the internet?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm not even sure if this is where I should post this but I'll give it a go. I purchased a new PC last week with Vista Home Premium on it. I have (for years) used MSN Premium software as my email program. Now, it seems I can't make this my default email program with Vista. I am going nuts! I have spoken to MSN support who tell me to do the same things over and over. I have also spoken to Microsoft support who told me I have to use Outlook or Windows Live mail instead.
It's really hard. I have taught my elderly parents how to use the MSN software and now we have to change - or do we? I've tried the email settings in MSN itself, I've tried associations for programs in Vista and also the default programs. Nothing is working. Surely, one Microsoft program should work with another? We pay for this software so that we can also have sub accounts on our email more storage than the usual hotmail space.
When I try to send an email with an XML file attachment, the program (windows live mail) hangs and nothing gets to the outbox. I have to send it with a computer running XP.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been using Windows Mail for 18 months without any significant problems.
Now, when I delete an email from my "Inbox," it does NOT appear in my "Deleted Items" folder. It just seems to disappear. I did read many of the earlier posts and have tried the suggestions. I've gone to Tools>Options>Advanced>Maintenance - the "Empty messages from the Deleted Items folder on exit" is NOT checked. I've also gone to Current View "Show all messages" - that's identified/checked. Is there something else that I can do? I'd appreciate any suggestions. This is the first time I've used
the Discussion Group, so I hope that I'm doing this correctly.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOur community centre has WiFi with WEP security. When I try to connect to it using my Win7 netbook, it does not offer any opportunity to enter a password, then it thinks for about 1 minute, then issues afailure message (I am writing this from memory at home, so I can't recall the exact wording of the error message). IIRC, I had tried to connect at some point in the past and may have entered an incorrect password. I would like to delete the network entirely and ensure that Windows is starting from scratch to connect to this network. However, I can't find anywhere that the network can be deleted. Nothing about this network appears in the Network and Sharing Centre.
