View 9 RepliesI searched the web in many places and could not find a way to completely change my system to not use Segoe UI fonts. I have a new 21-inch CRT and Segoe UI looks terrible, especially with ClearType turned off. I do not need ClearType at all on my CRT monitors. I need to use CRT's because I often need to change resolutions.
I looked everywhere for a solution... so I them messed around with the registry, and stumbled on something that may truely remove Segoe UI from my user interfaces and dialogs. I do not know how this works on other systems, or systems with Office 2007. I would be very interested in the results that others get, and also to see if someone has Office 2007 that can try it. I included the .REG files in the zip of this little app, so you can open those and see what I do. If it works, or not works for you, let me know. See this somewhat private link in my blog for the tools and .REG files...
I'm used to have Comic Sans while composing an email and Courier New when writing to a newsgroup. I've choosen these settings in Tools->Options->Send but they seem not to affect what's happening. What can i've done wrong? A guess is that there's an overriding setting putting everything to the same font. The settings for reading are working, though.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't possibly find any place to have Windows Mail use "Courier New" as font for new newsgroup articles. Although I believe to have set "Courier New" at any possible option, Windows Mail still uses "Arial" when I click the "New Message" button on a newsgroup like this one. how to set this monospaced font in Windows Mail?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find the font folder, so that I can copy a font onto a disk to put onto my laptop. In other versions of Windows its C:windowsfonts, which it appears to be in Vista, but once in C:Windows I cannot find the fonts folder. If I go through the control panel to the fonts folder it will not let me copy the front from there. It will let me right click the font to copy, but not let me paste onto a memory stick. I have already got into Folder options and made sure that Hidden files are visible.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have setup a friends vista mail to authenticate via pacbell.net's servers for outgoing mail. All works well for a few days, then stops working. Upon re examination of the mail settings, the smtp port has reverted to 25 (set manually to 460 something) and the use ssl checkbox is unchecked. I have showed my friend how to re-set the settings so he is not losing much sleep over this one, but it annoys me.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI finally found a fix for the above problem and you two surely deserve to know what it is. Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Internet Explorer > Settings > I modified Always Use My Font Size from (1) to (0). Initially, I was doing my searching using the entire computer and it literally took hours. Since I knew that searching KEY_CURRENT_USERS was a waste of time (you had already suggested deleting Windows Mail), I only searched for key words using LOCAL MACHINE. This allowed me to shorten search times to a reasonalbe amount.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if someone could help me. I can't figure out how to make my color scheme stay in any particular setting. IE. I use WMP classic and it (I think) is not compatible with Windows Aero color scheme, so it changes automatically from Aero to Basic, then back to Aero when WMPC is closed.
That is not the problem, my problem is that I would like to just put the scheme back to Window Vista Basic, thus avoiding the need to change back and forth all the time. Everytime I reboot the scheme comes back as Aero.
This seems so simple, just select desired scheme, apply then once I logout or reboot those settings should save.
When I run Windows Explorer, the Documents folder is open. More often than not, I want something within c:program files, so I have to scroll to that. Counting the click to close Documents, it takes four mouse clicks. Can I set it to open Program Files, and show all the subfolders beneath it? Perhaps a registry tweak or a freeware utility program?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI need to change the display filename colors in Vista Windows Explorer similar to the MAC O/S Feature. This question does NOT deal with Encrypted Files or Compressed Files. I simply want to change the display names of the files to colors such as BLUE, GREY, etc., just like I can do on the MAC O/S for the past 5 years.
I do NOT want to use any third party software file managers. There must be a way to do it in Windows since APPLE has been doing it for 60 months now. I can't believe that Windows STILL Cannot perform this simple task! If you have a working solution using Windows Explorer please email me and let me know.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't know if anyone can help me, but I was wondering something. I just got this laptop 7 months from a friend. I was wondering why the smallest font size on this thing is only 8? Is there anyway to add any font sizes smaller than 8. I need at least a 6. It is this way for every font. And i have the same problem on my desktop and it's still XP. If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd be grateful. Thanks.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI edited the registry and either modified or deleted a line
regarding font size.
Since then all my html messages use size 12 in Windows Mail, Live Mail, or
Yahoo Mail.
I can specify the use of a different size, but as soon as I type anything,
the size reverts to 12.
I can change any other attribute such as face, bold, etc. and they all
work.
I would like to reinstall Windows Mail but I understand that's not possible
as it's inseparable from Vista.
I've run sfc /scannow and there are no problems.
The only solution that seems possible it to fix or replace that registry
line I screwed up.
Incoming email is difficult to read because of age and font size. Have checked out ideas on Goggle and Windows "Help and Support". Either I'm too thick or the suggestions are no longer applicable. I'm using Vista, IE 8 and Windows mail.
View 9 Replies View Relatedis there's an equivalent to XP's Display Font Size in Vista? In XP Display Properties, Appearance tab we can change Font size to Large or Extra Large. This is useful for people who want high resolution desktops but find it hard to read small text (without sitting really close which is bad for eyes). I know there's a DPI setting in Vista just as there is in XP, but it's not the same as Font size.
