I'm trying to install a very old version of 3d Studio Max (v3), but I get the error: "Problem with HWL driver installation. Rerun the Sentinel Driver setup separately for your platform."
View 4 Repliesdue to a failed installation of a hp printer driver, Vista Home Basic now as some trouble:
- the printer is not installed
- running 'Activities' I see the icon on the tray area but i have not the main window
- but first of all, on the power off task, Vista shows the 'Disconnecting'
message, the 'ring' is alive, but it never end. I need to push the power button for 5 secs. How can i know which process is hanging? Is there a log for the power down tasks ?
I wanted to remove my NVIDIA old drivers(175.19) and replace it with 177.79. Used DriverSweeper 1.5.5, and this lovely program caused me nothing but headaches. Anyways, after this I installed 177.79(I think I was supposed to reboot, yes?) Now I can't even install any video driver(except for what Vista did automatically, but they are not the newest ones). On top of this NVIDIA driver 177.79 tells me I am using a 32bit OS?? I can assure you I am using 64 bit. I have attached some screenshots.

View 6 Replies View RelatedRunning Vista Home Premium with an NVidia 8800 GTX video card. Have SP1 installed but do not have Acceleration. Trying to install SP2 but it won't install. I first tried clicking "Run", and then also tried downloading the patch to the desktop and then running, but it simply will not install...just cancels itself. I disabled McAfee VS before trying to install, but results still the same. Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas how to get this to work? I looked on this board and MS site, and so far have found no other mentions of this problem.

I have a replacement unit on its way, but is there any way to transfer the drive with the Vista install to the new computer and get a working system? My Vista is a full retail copy. I'm now working on XP from my backup machine, an old Dell Optiplex GX200, with a 733 MHZ P3 that's not capable of running Vista. The goal would be that during a clean install, those updated drivers and Windows Updates are installed automatically.
For a specific example, I use a USB Wireless Adapter. If I could create a custom windows disc that includes those drivers, then I my USB Wireless Adapter would be recognized and I could therefore allow Windows to connect to the Internet during Setup to see if there are any hotfixes and updates.
I have a Vista Desktop that has a wireless router. I have shared a printer, but I would like my Mac laptop to be able to print to it. Do I install the printer driver on the Mac or on the Vista machine? If I install on the Vista machine, is there a special installer? The printer is an HP DeskJet 2445.

I am trying to clean install Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit. If you read my other post, I got around the blue screen about page in non paged area. I got the bad ram stick out and got a new one for my computer. (Toshiba Satillite). And I install it and it goes good until completing installation then it hangs.

Had to upgrade to a new PC, and most every new PC comes with Vista pre-installed, no options for XP. I try hooking up my 2 year old scanner - no Vista driver. I try hooking up a webcam a friend gave me - no Vista driver. So the whole purpose of upgrading to Vista was so I could go out and buy all new hardware!! This will be my last PC with a microsoft OS.

The first time I started playing with it, games and such, I had sound but I stupidly put in the CD that came with the computer that apparently is only for reinstalling. Now I have no sound. I went to the Gateway download site and downloaded a driver that said it was compatible to my computer but it doesn't work. The little speaker at the bottom right shows a red X but my control panel area shows that it is working properly.
