View 9 RepliesI would like to check the memory for errors BEFORE I load/install Windows Vista Home Premium x64 to avoid install hang-ups. Can you make an ISO CD of this program, load it in your CD/DVD drive and check your memory for errors? I recently updated the BIOS on the board (DP35DP) and it does show all of the 4GB of Kingston ValueRam PC800 1.8v (2x2gb) installed. I have good reason to believe that it's from a respectable manufacturer. Just want to make sure the memory is good before I load up the OS.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just acquired a new Fujitsu U810 UMPC, no optical drive. Before I had a chance to get to it, some smart person managed to power it up and force a shutdown during the initial Vista installation run. Now I keep getting "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, please restart the installation. I have tried Safe Mode and Repair (found no problems), and still get the same message.
I heard there is a way to reset Vista to 'out of box' setting. Normally one would use the Recovery disks to re-image the HDD but I don't have a USB optical drive, plus that takes time. I am still researching the external optical drives available, but looks like I may have to hasten my efforts. I have a very pretty, cute UMPC. But at the moment it is just a paper weight.
Open it by ultraISO then extract it in a new folder in your desktop n then run the setup.exe wait until they do there job hahaaa... its working for me after the installation complete. 100% u can see 3.5gb change to 4gb
View 5 Replies View RelatedI downloaded en_windows_vista_enterprise_with_service_pack_1_x64_dvd_x14-55934.iso and burned it to a DVD. Then I ran SETUP.EXE on a 64-bit Vista system. The installation ran as an UPGRADE for hours. Literally hours. When I awakened in the morning, the computer was stalled in the cleanup phase of installation. I power cycled the computer. Vista decided the Upgrade was a failure and reverted to the state before the Upgrade started. I see no reason for this behavior.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there is a simple way to take your Vista Installation Disc and use it to create a custom installation disc that also includes updated drivers and updated hotfixes. The goal would be that during a clean install, those updated drivers and Windows Updates are installed automatically.
For a specific example, I use a USB Wireless Adapter. If I could create a custom windows disc that includes those drivers, then I my USB Wireless Adapter would be recognized and I could therefore allow Windows to connect to the Internet during Setup to see if there are any hotfixes and updates.
If I do a complete backup on my Vista Ultimate laptop and do the restore to a larger hard disk, will it work? I have read differing reports of whether it will or not.

when I right Clicked a short cut, file or folder within Windows Explorer. It caused Windows Explorer to Hang/Not responding. Then Idecided to do an update to the Vista, so I ran the Upda5te option. My problem of right clicking appeared again? I went back into Safe Mode to find and re-do the System Restor from Sept 24th and it no longer exist? the select older than 5 days was grayed out.
I did not delete or do anything (that I'm aware of) to remove it. It was the last one on the list. Was it deleted automatically due to storage size allowed? In any case, is there a way to get it back? I need to fix this problem - of right clicking something and having Windows Explorer hang/not repond. Do I have to do a Vista Repair from my DVDs to get rid of the problem?
Running Vista Home Premium with an NVidia 8800 GTX video card. Have SP1 installed but do not have Acceleration. Trying to install SP2 but it won't install. I first tried clicking "Run", and then also tried downloading the patch to the desktop and then running, but it simply will not install...just cancels itself. I disabled McAfee VS before trying to install, but results still the same. Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas how to get this to work? I looked on this board and MS site, and so far have found no other mentions of this problem.

I only wish to backup C: as it has the OS and installed programs (I use a different process to back up other data).

1. Backed up C: using Windows Complete PC Backup. (6 DVDs no errors.)
2. Removed old HD and inserted new.
3. Booted Windows Vista install DVD. (I proceeded to partition HD but did not complete the install.)
4. From Windows Recovery Environment, I chose Windows Complete PC Restore.
5. Inserted Backup image DVD disc1.
6. When it looked for the location of the image it couldn't find it so it fails.
I have a Dell laptop with Vista Home Premium installed. Everything was going fine today until I clicked for updates to be installed and then to re-start after the updates, as normal. However, now when I start the computer the Windows screen says 'Configuring Updates: Stage 3 of 3. 0% complete' then it shuts down and automatically restarts with the same message. A mate presented me with his Vista laptop, running home premium. It was stuck in the installing stage 3 of 3 loop.Under no circumstances was I to kill vista and start again. He had lost the copies of some of the programs. I used the recovery console to rename the pending.xml file.The machine rebooted correctly.I decided to run the windows update and it hung.I forced a reboot and ran sfc, it reported that there are 3 errors that it can not resolve- this seems to be common!I installed malware bytes and told it to run, after 10 mins it hung again.I told avast to scan at start up, went to bed and woke up in the morning to find the laptop hanging on the frozen login page- I am assuming that avast found nothing as it is set to prompt for action by default.I decided to try disk clean up and discovered that Vista falsely claims that the event logs are 99.1 gb!I told it to delete virtually everything but again it hangs.
