I've been looking through all the similar posts and have tried varying different suggestions from people but still my message is stuck in the outbox and I'm unable to Send emails.
I've tried the whole antivirus thing and changing the port number, together with going into my Drive and deleting things from there but still the pesky thing is sitting there taunting me.

I downloaded Yahoo Emails and merge the outlook mails to window mails.I find there are many duplicate mails in window mail. At first I manaually delete the dupliates in window mail, It costed me a lot of time and only delete little parts of duplicates. Now I find in window explorer, these are files for the mails. I think I might use a tool to remove duplicate files in 'window mail' folder on window explorer. Is it sage to do so.

1- I put my charter.net email into Vista mail works great but now I can only get my email by going through vista mail. If I go to charter.net It says NO MESSAGES, but there are because I can get them when I go into vista mail.
Also I got an email from a trusted sender and Vista mail pt it throug to spam and said it could have been phishing, I am 100% it was not. I right clicked on the email and put it in trusted sender. Why didVista mail do that Finally I hate how when I go into vista ,mail even if I right click on an email It will open it (so say I right click on a spam email to delete it, vista mail will open it?

From time to time I receive emails which have been marked as SPAM (in the subject line) I have a rule set up to delete such messages. Whilst that works well there is on occasion a message which actually isn't SPAM after all. I can copy the email to the desktop and edit it with notepad to remove the word SPAM from the subject line and then save and drag it back into Windows mail but the situation I have is that I have a (mail) folder which has a large number of needed emails incorrectly marked. Does anyone know of a utility that can be used to rename the subject line (specifically to remove the word SPAM) from all messages in a given folder?

I read the tutorial about deleting windows.old, and that's simple enough, but I have a few questions. I reinstalled after the BitDefender 64-bit fiasco yesterday. It went OK, and I found all the saved files in windows.old which I was afraid I had lost. I was particularly concerned about my video and recorded TV files, so, when I found them intact, I "moved" them back to the appropriate "public" folders. Now Media Center sees them just fine. The weird thing, though, is that when I go into Windows Explorer, the files still "exist" in both the normal public folder and in the place I found them in windows.old.
Since I know that I didn't have enough disk space to duplicate them, the problem has to be a pointer or shortcut, but I'm at a loss as to how to get rid of it. I can, if need be, get another drive and copy them off, but I hesitate to just delete the windows.old folder without knowing if I'm going to also delete the files that are supposedly in the public video and recorded TV folders. Neither do I want to copy all those files off if I don't need to. Can someone explain this further, point me to another thread or tutorial that I missed, or tell me what will happen to my files?

On my C: drive I have a C:/windows.old directory as well as a C:/windows directory. The 'old' directory was last modified many months ago. C:/Windows takes up 9+GB/ C:/Windows.old takes up 14+GB. Can I safely delete 'Windows.old' from my PC?

I just did a custom install of windows Vista and need to get rid of the windows.old file. I have an external hard drive and would like to move it there and not delete it just in case I have forgotten any files that are not immediately apparent. Can I just cut and paste it? Or will that mess something up in Vista.

I've recently done a clean install of VISTA Ultimate on a new hard disk. This is an upgrade copy, so I used the "old" disk and ran it from there. Vista runs on the C drive now, but I can't free up space on the "old" D drive because I can't delete the Windows folder or any of the files or folders in it. I'm denied access. Tried the Administrator account trick. Tried everything. Disk clean up tool. This is my biggest complaint with running VISTA for the past year: I can't access my own computer because I'm told I don't have permission! I built them, I run a home network of 3 machines and I'm continually told I don't have permission to do what I want or need to do. UAC is off.

Whenever I try to delete a file in the Windows GUI (either from the desktop or from an open window), the file is deleted (usually) but a window saying "Recycling 1 item" or "Deleting 1 item" stays on the screen forever, until I use Task Manager to kill Explorer.

When I attempt to copy/cut and paste (or even DELETE from desktop or wherever) (CTRL X, CTRL C, then CTRL V) or, even by right-clicking methods, I get the typical dialogue box: "Moving items...," "Deleting items...," etc.
The problem is that sometimes, only sometimes the documents move or are copied. Sometimes, (usually about 80% of the time) they do NOT. The dialogue box that states what's going on just freezes & hangs forever..............

If you need to delete or overwrite a system file in Windows Vista, you'll quickly notice that you cannot delete system files, even as administrator. This is because Windows Vista's system files are owned by the TrustedInstaller service by default, and Windows File Protection will keep them from being overwritten. You need to take ownership of the files, and then assign yourself rights to delete or modify the file. For this, we'll use the command line.
Open an administrator command prompt by typing cmd into the start menu search box, and hit the Ctrl+Shift+Enter key combination. To take ownership of the file, you'll need to use the takeown command. Here's an example: takeown /f C:WindowsSystem32en-USwinload.exe.mui That will give you ownership of the file, but you still have no rights to delete it. Now you can run the cacls command to give yourself full control rights to the file: cacls C:WindowsSystem32en-USwinload.exe.mui /G geek:F Note that my username is geek, so you will substitute your username there. At this point, you should be able to delete the file. If you still can't do so, you may need to reboot into Safe Mode and try it again. For the filename in the example, I was able to overwrite it without safe mode, but your mileage may vary.

I've a file in my Favorites (for IE7) and there is no way I can get rid of it. I've shut down IE, rebooted the machine and gone to Windows Explorer to delete this thing, but cannot. When I went to see if it was a read-only file, it was. But when I go to make it a non read-only file, I get the following message, "This is no longer located in the c:usersfavorites - verify the items and try again." Also I get this message "The system cannot find the file specified" ...I found this file in four other locations, and deleted them all. But still, I cannot get rid of it in the Favorites...
