View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista Ultimate x64. I tried to install VMWare Server when I came across a very big problem. It has 4 drivers that weren't installed b/c Vista x64 requires that they be signed. Is there a way around this, or am I just not allowed to have VMWare Server? If it's not possible, I'm open to other alternatives. Assuming it's free like VMWare Server
View 6 Replies View RelatedI work as an Applications Developer and I have a development environment set up in a virtual machine running Ultimate 32bit. You may ask why i have things set up this way?... well VPN (which i use a lot) is not supported in a 64bit flavour and the same can be said about Visual Studio 2008 & SQL Server. Anyway, getting to the point, the Virtual Machine running Vista32bit has a RAM allocation of 1 gig but there is a lot of memory swapping going on between the VM and the host OS to the point of a system freeze until i can kill a process or two the free up memory. So what i want to do is strip everything out of the guest OS that uses unnessecary memory ie fancy looking desktop etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDo you use the web-based VMWare Management Interface to control your ESX server and have problems opening virtual machines in IE7?
Many user have reported that instead of getting the open prompt in IE7 they get a find option instead. To fix this, you need to define the application/x-vmware-console MIME type so IE7 allows you to open the file.
Open up notepad.
Copy the text below into notepad:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTMIMEDatabaseContent Typeapplication/x-vmware-console] "Extension"=".xvm" ....
Can some one let me know that can we install VMware sever on Vista home premium edition.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have tried both and really can't tell the difference when up and running. I am using the 64 bit drivers for my devices and have NO 64 bit programs. My machine has an AMD64x2 4800 running 4 gig ram and a 500 gig drive. When I switched from Vista 32 bit to the 64 I thought I was going to see dramatic results but no... Have followed the tutorials to adjust as needed/wanted still not difference. So, unless doing some graphic intensive or mathematically intensive work utilizing a 64 bit program when will I and others ever see any advantage to keeping the 64 bit os?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 2 computers. One has Vista Home Premium and the other has Ultimate. Today, after being advised by Update that SP1 is available to me, I have downloaded and saved both versions from the Microsoft site; 32 and 64. BUT I really do not understand the difference between 32 and 64. To me it seems like Vista should be Vista, like XP was XP. which version of SP1 I need to put into my individual Vista installations of Home Premium and then Ultimate.

The two choices I have decided on are selling my current 8800gt for $100 to a friend and using that money to go toward a gtx 260 OR putting another 8800gt in SLI with my current one. Also, how big of a difference is there between the gtx 280 and the 260 other than money and RAM?

It would be nice to know but I don't entirely need t know.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm expecting that one is for 32bit Windows and the other is for 64, obviously. However I feel that I have Realplayer 32 bit running on my vista and it's the main download on the realplayer site anyways. I think it's 32 bit because when I was in msconfig in the run menu, under startups it had realplayer (32-bit) but how can that be, because I thought 32 bit won't work on 64 bit OP systems and vice versa. Plus is there really any difference between the two? Besides just compatibility.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a big difference it the two? Would I really benefit with a switch to 64? What I have found out so far is that 64bit is better for graphics and video and not so much for applications. I just got my system in Feb of 2008, Vista 32bit, HP media center m8300f w/tv tuner, 3gigs ram, 640gigs hdd, 3.0ghtz AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ processor. I couldn't pass it up as it was a bundled deal w/monitor(HP) and a all-in-one printer(HP).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to get a new OS w/new build. What is/are the difference's between upgrade, OEM and just English DVD? The prices are as follows; upgrade = $219, OEM = $199, English DVD = $319 and are from Tiger direct. This is for the Ultimate OS and some prices are reflecting sales and rebates. I understand the upgrade is overlaying new OS over the old OS but the other two confuse me. So with a new build what would be best?

Obviously I would like to buy the the best one I can, but I would like to ensure that for the future it could erhaps play a few better games as well as Sims2. I can imagine she will be using the laptop for her school work as well over the next few years. Any advice on which one to buy. View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new pc with Vista Home Premium, it came with: 1GB PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM, expandable to 4GB. I wanted more memory so I bought a 2GB kit PC2-*5300* DDR2 SDRAM, because it was on sale for $60. The 6400 speed would have cost me over $200. The salesman assured me it would work fine and I wouldn't notice any difference. I installed it when I got home and everything works great, no problems. But I still can't stop wondering if the difference in speed WOULD matter. Can anyone explain, or provide a link explaining, when, if ever, I would benefit from the faster memory. I mostly use my PC for surfing the web, email, and some photo editing.
