Jun 6, 2009I 've an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 + Vista HP 64 bit. I've seen on INTEL site that this mobo don't have Intel Virtualization Technology infact I've tried by VirtualBox (and other similar SW) to guest Windows 7 with negative result. I'd like to know if with this mobo is impossible or I have to find the right sw?

Aug 15, 2008I'm running Vista Ultimate x64. I tried to install VMWare Server when I came across a very big problem. It has 4 drivers that weren't installed b/c Vista x64 requires that they be signed. Is there a way around this, or am I just not allowed to have VMWare Server? If it's not possible, I'm open to other alternatives. Assuming it's free like VMWare Server

Dec 5, 2008I work as an Applications Developer and I have a development environment set up in a virtual machine running Ultimate 32bit. You may ask why i have things set up this way?... well VPN (which i use a lot) is not supported in a 64bit flavour and the same can be said about Visual Studio 2008 & SQL Server. Anyway, getting to the point, the Virtual Machine running Vista32bit has a RAM allocation of 1 gig but there is a lot of memory swapping going on between the VM and the host OS to the point of a system freeze until i can kill a process or two the free up memory. So what i want to do is strip everything out of the guest OS that uses unnessecary memory ie fancy looking desktop etc.

Mar 30, 2008I have tried both and really can't tell the difference when up and running. I am using the 64 bit drivers for my devices and have NO 64 bit programs. My machine has an AMD64x2 4800 running 4 gig ram and a 500 gig drive. When I switched from Vista 32 bit to the 64 I thought I was going to see dramatic results but no... Have followed the tutorials to adjust as needed/wanted still not difference. So, unless doing some graphic intensive or mathematically intensive work utilizing a 64 bit program when will I and others ever see any advantage to keeping the 64 bit os?

Today, after being advised by Update that SP1 is available to me, I have downloaded and saved both versions from the Microsoft site; 32 and 64. BUT I really do not understand the difference between 32 and 64. To me it seems like Vista should be Vista, like XP was XP. which version of SP1 I need to put into my individual Vista installations of Home Premium and then Ultimate.

However I feel that I have Realplayer 32 bit running on my vista and it's the main download on the realplayer site anyways. I think it's 32 bit because when I was in msconfig in the run menu, under startups it had realplayer (32-bit) but how can that be, because I thought 32 bit won't work on 64 bit OP systems and vice versa. What I have found out so far is that 64bit is better for graphics and video and not so much for applications. I just got my system in Feb of 2008, Vista 32bit, HP media center m8300f w/tv tuner, 3gigs ram, 640gigs hdd, 3.0ghtz AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ processor. I couldn't pass it up as it was a bundled deal w/monitor(HP) and a all-in-one printer(HP).

The salesman assured me it would work fine and I wouldn't notice any difference. I installed it when I got home and everything works great, no problems.
