Every time I try and do something open browser, email, etc. A box pops up saying " Do you want to allow software such as Active X controls and plug ins to run" I know it is just a setting some where but I can't find it. So asking for some help in locating this setting so I can stop the box from popping up all the time. running Vista home premium X64.

i installed adobe 8 and easy media creator 9 .the 1st one dont let me click the accept button in license user agreement. the 2nd dont show the home page with all the functions. its because i still cant get the activex controls/plug-ins working. the site requiring them just show a blank page

USB devices I regularly use is my digital camera, my iPod, a bluetooth USB stick, my printer and my wireless mobile internet device. Every time I plug one of these in, I have to pray that it will be recognised. If it is a good day, and it is recognized, it does not show up in My Computer or in Windows Explorer and I cannot unplug it safely. With some of the devices, every time I plug it in, I get a pop-up which says it is updating the driver software, but it does not seem to make any difference.

Everytime he wants to install something, either it asks for my password, either it says he has to be the administrator. Isn't there a way he can install the programs himself, without the need of my password and still have the time limit activiated on his account?
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen I plug my speakers into the rear panel, realtek device manager still shows that I have not plugged anything into the back jack, and I have checked about 10 times to make sure it is in the right hole, this is also the issue with my microphone, when I try to configure my speakers, it shows a red "x" and says "not plugged in" I don't know what the issue may be, it does the same for microphone as well, and I can't figure out how to fix this. Also the "configure" and "set default" button's are grayed out and I can't click them. Also I am trying to use analog speaker's if that makes any difference with responses.
View 6 Replies View RelatedInternet Explorer 7 in 64-bit mode: Awesome! Minefield, otherwise known as Firefox 3 Beta 3, the only x64 Firefox browser currently available. Incredible...BUT! There are no Flash/Shockwave, amongst others, 64-bit plug-in's available, so I am forced to use FF2 x86, as well as IE7 x86, and I don't understand how anybody browses without, at a minimum, the Adobe Flash Player plug-in.
Most sites that I frequent require the Adobe Flash player, some do the Shockwave, too. I watch a lot of CNN and NBC News, and both of those, amongst many others, require the Flash player. Is anyone aware of beta plug-in's, or an ETA as to when they'll be released? Is there any other (temporary) solution that I am unaware of.

I think they are supposed to cycle through backgrounds but on mine they are greyed out and do nothing. I have yet to see any mention of these controls in any help file or discussion. Are there different sidebar backgrounds and if so, how do I access them? Right now, my background is opaque.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI can't track down the exact thing that changed, but many of my internet plug-ins (QuickTime, Silverlight, Air) won't work properly. I will install the plug-in, then when I go to a site that requires it, it says it's not installed, despite clearly being the Program registry.
When I use QuickTime, I can go to various sites that have QT movies and they load fine, but if I go to Apple.com, it says I need to grab the newest QuickTime. Silverlight apps won't load at all. Any time I go to Adobe's marketplace for AIR apps, despite having one running, it says that I need to install Air. This is in both IE7 and Firefox.
I recently bought a Canon Rebel xti, and also a 2GB memory card along with it. I also got a Digital Concepts 21 in 1 card reader. Cin the card to the reader an error pops up saying the file doesn't have a program associated to it and i need to create one in the set associations control panel. I know where the set associations panel is, but i don't know how to actually associate a program to the reader.

The left scan is of my daughter's computer; the right scan is mine (the two computers are identical I bought them at the same time): Here's what happened: When I recorded on my computer with a plug-in mic, the onboard mic didn't mute, so I was getting recordings from both mics at once. I tried to disable the onboard mic. But after doing that, I get a lot of white noise when I plug in a mic: How can I get it back to how it was? (There are no restore points that go back as far as when I made the changes). I really need step-by-step help here - I'm not all that computer savvy.

I haveone account, as admin, no password and I already tried "run as admin" for the game but still the same. When I go to parental controls it tells me none are set as I'm an administrator, so no way to turn them on or off! I started up Vista with Safe Mode to see what I could do on his account. It still wouldn't let me sign in under his name b/c of the time limits....but there must be a way around that. Can I tell if he has used Safe Mode to get around parental controls?
Is there a way to put a password on Safe Mode? I set a password for BIOS, but I don't know what good that does. I know there is parental control software out there (Web Watcher is one I was looking at)....but what good is it if a teen can just get around it?
greetings. how can i access parential controls remotely to monitor my childrens activity on thier laptops? the laptops are running windows vista. basic and it is on a LAN connected to the internet. each child has their own laptop. so having me sneek in to thier rooms at night to go in to the admin account just to view thier activity is a pain. but if there was a way to do it remotely it would make things alot simpler.

When I unplug from the mains it dims, as normal but it will not brighten up again until I reboot with it plugged into the mains. View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with media center displaying any kind of video on my second monitor ( well 40" sony TV). using WMP however the display is always fine. Even in media center when the video is playing full screen and the play/ pause buttons are displayed the video is fine but as soon as they autohide a frame of the video keeps repeating constantly (I'd sway the same frame at least once every second). I've tried changing the screen resolution etc in media center and in the display adapter section but I can't seem to stop this. As I said WMP and other programs play back the files correctly so why doesn't media center?
I'm using an HP a6827c dual channel 64 bit machine and have been trying to disable the completely the admin control system using a solution from this forum by going to an elevated command prompt and typing a command string. the instructions say to type using "Bold" characters. (Does not work in regular font)(I tried that). How does one change to bold font in the command prompt window?

I need to install a FM Patcher program so some of my older plug-in will work in Photo Shop and PSP.
When I installed the patcher I get this error message that I have attached.FM Patcher is a small application that lets you change Photoshop .8bf plugins that were created with older versions of FilterMeister in order to make them work under Windows Vista. Normally developers just need to recompile their plugins with the latest FilterMeister release to make them Vista-compatible, but unfortunately some developers abandoned their plugins. So we decided to create FM Patcher to enable users of these old plugins to make them work under Vista.
At the moment Fm Patcher does not fix the problem that old FilterMeister plugins have with activated Data Execution Prevention (DEP). You still need to deactivate DEP in your control panel or place your graphics application on the DEP exclusion list.

When I play a WMA file, adjusting any of the video settings slider controls has no affect on the quality of the video playing, not even if I adjust the settings before clicking 'Play'. When I play mpg files, however, adjusting the settings DOES result in the video quality being changed corresponding to the whichever setting is changed. I can access my HotMail messages by direct download into the Outlook application on my Vista PC, and also via web gui in XP. How can I figure out what setting I need to relax in Parental Controls, to allow me to access my mail? For me it is less urgent than for my son: he is also prevented from using the web gui, and doesn't have the luxury of an Outlook account.
I have Windows Vista Ultimate. Every time I turn on my computer, little pop up windows tell me to set a password as a way to activate Parental Controls. HOWEVER, I do not need Parental Controls - I am the only user of the computer and I have not activated the Guest Account or created any other user account. View 7 Replies View RelatedI recieved my new hard drive in the mail today and so excited I switched out my 250gb for my new 750gb without reformating or anything. So, now I am not sure what to do because it says my activation key is still active from my other hdd. Oh and if it helps I went from 32bit on 250 to 64bit on the 750. I bought Vista Ultimate in 2007, so I have the RTM version of it.
