Click on "ok" to terminate the problem" It doesn't seem to be affecting much although I experience some long waits for pages to load, especially in my Gmail account.I am running IE 6 and XP Pro SP2. I believe I am current with updates.Don't know if this is relevant, but it seemed to start appearing when I renewed my virus software (Trend PC-cillin).Another thing that may or may not be relevant. Recently defragged and still had quite a few fragmented files that could not be fixed. Redid the procedure and reduced the number of files but still seemed like a lot. It takes about 8 hours to completely defrag.My hard disk is about 6 months old.

The funny thing is, nothing pops up, does not re-direct.. And this is weird but all the sudden some gibberish sounds start playing... Sounds like multiple audio into one. If I go into properties>Screensaver and set the "Wait" time to 5 and press "OK", in 5 five minutes the screensaver will come on. However, if I move the mouse and wait another five minutes the screensaver does not activate. It will only activate once per time you set its properties.

I'm really at a loss for words. For some odd reason, every now and again, I hear what sounds like the first second of the Linkin Park song Crawling. No idea where it's coming from. All of my mp3 players could be running or not and I've heard it. I've checked to make sure that if I had any browsers open, that there wasn't any kind of annoying flash advertisement doing it. Giving up the idea... I proceeded to remove every file with Ahead Or Nero in it. Used jv 16 Power tools to remove left overs. Nothing now shows in jv16 or search of all files & folders (with hidden & system showing). Ran CCleaner including other MRUs etc.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am getting hanging at any time, where the harddrive light is on continuously, but the monitor is on standby. I sometimes get the blue screen, and other times it just won't boot to the Windows start-up screen In all cases though, when I do have a problem, a simple pressing of the reset button does not do anything, as the monitor never does come back on, therefore no reboot. Only after powering off and on a few times, does it finally kick in. I am on the same computer right now...which leaves me to believe it isn't a software or Windows problem, but perhaps hardware, either memory or video card, I have not installed any new hardware though

I was browsing the internet on sites I usually go to (gamespot, rapbattles, ign, etc) and then a TV show I wanted to watch came on. So I closed the internet (nothing was opened) and left it on the desktop as I watched TV. Then when the show was over,completely off. And I didn't shut it off! I been using my PC for a few years now & it's been fine ever since, but now every time I start my PC every application transforms into a different font/style before going back to normal. My system is a XP Home SP2 & I'm using Firefox as my browser.
The last month I have been going through spyware/malware cleaners, used everyone one of them including Hijack This. The problem does not seem to be spyware.Now the problem all started when I clicked on some website when I was searching for an old obscure foreign band, at that moment my browser turned into a completely different style for a second.
here's one that has me stumped. My right click option on one particular thing doesn't work. That particular thing being when I choose All Programs and then try to access a program by right clicking on it nothing happens. How I found this was I was going to "Sort by name" and get the programs in alphabetical order but I can't. In every other aspect the right click option works fine.

I'm not sure if this is what has caused this somewhat amusing "glitch," but at some point in time while using my PC (long after I'd finished playing with nVidia), I noticed that there is a stationary mouse pointer on the right side of my screen, midway between the top & bottom. I tried refreshing my desktop and doing some other stuff, but it's still there. Now, restarting the PC will probably get rid of it, but what is weird is, it's on top of everything! I move my mouse next to it, and the pointer goes under the stationary pointer. I even tried to take a screen capture to show that I have two mouse pointers, but it only showed my working pointer (I used irfanview so it would show it).
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk so I have the installation file for Alcohol 120% v1965529 on a DVD, so when I try copy pasting it to my E: drive I get an Access Denied - Make sure the file is not in use or write protected error.However, I can copy it with no problem to my C: drive. Once I do that, if I try to run the installation, I get the "Windows cannot find the specified path, device or file. Make sure you have the appropriate permissions to access the item." error.Trying to copy it from C: to E: gives me the access denied error again, and I've already removed all atributes, like read-only. What the hell is going on here? I'm system administrator, and in the 4+ years I've been using WinXP, I have never seen this problem! The file isn't corrupt, it works on other computers.

I can get into hotmail with this ID and can also log into the web messenger with this id. I have been also able to log into windows live on other computers with this ID. Unfortunately I cannot take a screen shot of it or ID a process since it technically happens before any user is even logged in. The title bar of the box is two squares and the body of it is the same. Then there is just an OK button. After clicking ok everything boots normally. Scanned for viruses and spyware using every known method and the install is clean. I normally use linux most of the time, but whenever I go into XP to play a game, this drives me nuts.

the startup is VERY VERY slow. After the Welcome Screen, it shows your desktop and then you gain control and do whatever you want right? Well that's the part my PC lags or slows down a lot. I think the part it lags is when it's loading the icons on my taskbar, like the icons on the bottom right hand screen. I don't have a lot of icons, and they're not resource usage intensive AT ALL. My PC lags during that loading part for about 3 mins or more, and i can't do anything or else it'll make it lag more, i.e i can't open programs or games, i can't even open folders and even if i try to, it takes forever to show up.
The lagging part only shows everytime during startup, but after that it's all good, i can play hardcore games like Crysis etc on maxed setting and do multi-tasks, but i just don't get why it lags so much on startup. In fact, on my crappy Toshiba laptop, it's loads way way WAAAAY faster than my PC, but my PC is way better so i don't understand why. And they both have the same programs and settings, in fact my laptop has way more stuff running on startup and my PC has nothing but games, it's a full on gaming PC only with nothing else, so it shouldn't even lag..............
I am not sure where this came from there are 4 windows that have been opening and I don't recall downloading them! When I try to check thru properties, my computer or add/remove programs I am not recognizing them.
