Uninstalling / Reinstalling IE 6.0 Does Include - Not Responding
Jun 4, 2007
My OE has a glitch or is corrupt. I have followed step by step the following Microsoft site down to the instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling IE6.0 with does include OE 6.0 The strange behavior that I am experiencing is:
1. When I open OE and click on "Create email" the page momentarily comes up to write and email, but then immediately OE closes....vanishes. This all happens in a second or so.
2. If I go to Tools/options within the open OE program, anything I change within Options makes OE show "this program is not responding" in Ctrl/Alt/delete/Applications.
I have not attempted to uninstall and reinstall as shown on the given website above as it looks complicated to me with limited experience. Is there a simple way of uninstalling and reinstalling OE please. I have XP/SP2

I am trying to make a flash drive bootable into wxpro. I have several format tools inclucing hp format tool. When I tried to access 98 startup disk to format my rally drive I got the message "no media". I copied the files to another area and received the same message. I then tried the format tool in xp. I cannot access the greyed out area to include msdos sys files. I have a old dos 6.0 prog that I use at work. I have been able to get the prog to work in 98. The use of a flash drive would be excellent if I can get it to work. To access/remove computer is a hassle and if I could just plug in a flash drive in would be excellent. So far I havent been able to get the drive to boot into xp.

I recently had to do a system recovery on WinXP, and when it was complete, it had renamed all my user profiles to: [USERNAME].[Computer Name] rather than just username.IE: C:Docume~1JohnDoe.My_Computer instead of C:Docume~1JohnDoe
Unfortunately, all my settings, documents, financial files, etc are located under the original JohnDoe folder (still present). How can I redirect the JohnDoe log-in to look at the JohnDoe folder rather than JohnDoe.My_Computer?(side note, I set up my computer to share, and when I put in the computer name, I spelled it slightly different than the original. I have changed it back to the original spelling, but with no success. I have also deleted the new folder, just to have it recreated at log in!)

I've got the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed on my WinXP Pro computer. Now, my Add/Remove Programs lists both 1.1 and 2.0 as being installed. Does anyone know if I would be safe to uninstall 1.1. In other words, is .NET 2.0 completely backward compatible?

I can't boot my Compaq laptop. I got sick of all the AOL stuff still hanging around that I tried to get rid of it all. I deleted it from add/remove from programs and also deleted the files from system files. I faced with a message which read "The AOL connectivity service isn't running. Please restart your computer and try again". At that point everything froze and I could just see the "torch" looking for files in the "My Computer" screen and nothing else happening. I have tried System Restore, also reverting to the last configuration which worked. Now I just get the desktop background with nothing on it.I can get in OK with secure mode. I have also tried scan disk and the repair defects options.

Pc had win98 installed. With the pc came a support cd for my ASRock mobo. I installed the cd and installed 4 in 1 drivers, no problem. However it wrote over my existing drivers for my modem and graphic card. I read the manual and it read that this mobo was designed specifically for XP. So I formatted my hard drive and installed XP pro, without a hitch. However it did not detect my modem.
It detect everythig else There wasn't a list to chose from. I went to a web site and d/loaded proper driver from the info off my modem. The problem was I couldn't load to floppy cause the file was 2.44 mbs. So here's where the stupid in me comes to play. I removed the hard drive from my old pc and installed to my new one, but of course it did not boot, no screen, nadda. I reversed my screw up, and my pc still does not boot

My hard drive is divided into two partitions running Windows ME and Windows 2000 Professional NT. Windows 2000 is currently causing problems in that mouse movement is delayed, and also the shutdown process is lengthy, followed by a blank blue screen, sometimes not shutting down at all.As I would prefer to make a clean install of XP Pro it would be great to get rid of the former operating systems. Can anyone advise on how to go about this?

I have been trying to clean up the programs on my other computer (XP). I tried to delete a program called CGIndia which I never use. It wouldn't uninstall and now I get the dreaded message"IE has encountered a problem and must close" They mention that the offending program is tbcgin.dll After that there is a choice of sending an error message and I clicked send but does anything ever happen after that. Does that fix it? If it is supposed to, it doesn't. I have DSL now so modem involved

I tried using IE 7 and was not impressed and had some problems getting to web sites from addresses posted in emails that I normally have done for years on trusted sites. I am running XP Pro SP2. I tried doing a registry cleaning after deleting IE 7 and finally had to do a system restore to prior to installing it, but now I am getting the same problem again. The normal browser I use is Firefox 2.0 combined with using Outlook as my email program.

I have windows xp home edition on a hp pavilon pc. When i uninstall somthing, somtimes it stops responding near the end and then i have to end task. When i do that it has uninstalled the program but has left the icon in the "install/uninstall programs". There is no way i can get rid of it.if i click uninstall it just says "the installation is missing the file instops.dat. setup will now exit. This has recently happened to my norton antivirus. I tried to uninstall norton antivirus 2004 so i could install norton 360. But it froze at the end of the installaton, so i had to end task. Now the icon is permanantly stuck in the "install/uninstall programs". So norton 360 thinks the program is still installed and i cant install this new anti virus. Because of this my computer is unprotected.
