I have Windows XP Pro SP1
When I try to switch users the computer automatically restarts.
There are 4 users on the computer and it is not part of a LAN, or any other network.
I have a xp sp2 and Norton internet security suite 2007 installed computer.It restarts automatically. I did a full system scan with Norton."No spywares, malwares, viruses detected." But the computer restarts automatically.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, if I log on to my account (an administrator account), then log off, none of the other users (my husband's admin. account or the kids' limited user accts) can be signed on. XP sits on the welcome screen for an unusually long time, then goes to just the user's wallpaper screen (no icons, no taskbar, nothing). Can't pull up task manager or warm boot, have to shut down & restart. I can log on any of the other accounts, and log off, and switch to mine, but not vice versa. Even if I don't do ANYTHING after signing on. So, the problems seems to be with my account settings somehow.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed XP SP3 last night, and all was seeming pretty ok, surprisingly.But I've discovered that I can no longer switch between users. When I try to switch, the system freezes as it is loading the desktop for the second user and all I can do is reboot to get out of it. infuriating! There's no problem at all if I log out of my user account, and my wife then logs into hers. but they just won't run at the same time as they used to. I've tried checking to see if Terminal Services and RPC are running in the services list, and both are, so it's not that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the past, I could switch users on the computer simply by clicking Start->log off->switch user and the user I was switching from could keep all of their windows and applications while I used my user setting. Something has happened, and now I actually have to close everything on one user's side and log the user off to be able to get to my user account. Is there a way to get it back to being able to share the computer?

We have 3 users on the Welcome Screen and they all have administrator accounts. You can log on to any account with no problem. If you log off someone else can log on to their account with no problem.

we cant find netware or client services for netware in the add / remove programs.
we searched the files for netware and found to programs listed one in c:j386 and another one in c:windowssystem32
How can we unistall the program?
so i installed service pack 2 today and had restarted the computer only to find that the welcome screen didn't appear, but the normal log in screen that i was used to seeing with earlier windows os. i logged in as both myself and my mom trying to make the welcome screen return, but nothing i've tried works. we are also unable to do the quick switch thing so we're being forced to completely log off and then log on again under our respective user names. whenever i try to switch accounts i get this message:This computer is in use and has been locked.'Only *insert name here* or an administrator can unlock it

View 2 Replies View RelatedAlrite, my friend re-formatted his computer, and afterwards, he is having problems. It seems to start up fine, and it gets to both screens where it says, "Windows 2000 is starting up," and on the second one, it seems to get done then it goes to a blue screen for a very split second, and restarts automatically, and does this, Over and over. It doesn't make it to the desktop. He hooks up a different hard drive to it and it works fine.. It is also windows 2000. Its windows 2000 Service Pack 3.

Would like to make use of all the following options:
- unable for non-administrators to turn on the computer between 10PM and 6AM.
- unable for non-administrators to access internet.
- non-adminstrators able to access internet but not Instant Messenger.
If you want to go straight to the Desktop, go to Start>Run and type "control userpasswords2" without the quotes. Then select your account from the list, and uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". I tried to the user enter a username and password I unmark it but it couldn't type anything on it. Bob Augello isn't highlight either.

This happened to me a few times. I tried Norton Virus Scanner, Adaware, Defragment, and System Restore. But sadly... it still doesn't work...It happened again when I was using spy bot and listening to music... what is the problem??
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have been looking into this computer restarting. I have downloaded recent drivers and updates. I looked at Microsofts suggestions. After the bsod if comes back up and the error reports says they are not sure what it is but it has something to do with antivirus.
Here is the event. It seems to happen whenever they are playing games or online. sometimes they will just go back to the desktop and the program will close.
Ok so I just fixed a computer and reinstalled the Operating System. I booted it once an installed all the drivers again then restart it. Upon doing so it failed to boot the operating system. I rebooted it again and said start Windows in safe mode. This results in the Windows XP loading screen appearing but when it goes away the whole system restarts. The same thing happens no matter what I select on the "Windows did not start up last time" screen.
