My Problem is,I got an error come up "windowssystem32configsystem" missing or corrupt. How do I repair the registry without a windows xp disc and is it easy if it can be done
I was exiting a game and windows started getting really slow and i could not click on anything so i held my power button on my computer and shut it off. When I started it again it said "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: windowssystem32configsystem" then it says I can put my original CD in and go to the recovery console. When I did this I got to the first step in a tutorial online where I type "copy c:windowsystem.... etc"
I'm running Windows 2000 Professional, and encounter the problem: "The file hal.dll is missing, please replace it or reinstall it". That shows up when i try to boot it up.When restarted, it looks like its about to load windows 2000, then it stops and says"The file Hal.dll is missing or corrupted, please reinstall to replace it" . I wanted to go to safe mode, but it wont load because of that corrupted file.
I am havinga very big problem with my PC. When I try to start it up normally, I get the following message; "Windows could not start because the following fileis missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM. You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair" When I try this, it opens repair console, but then I have to select OS, and when I do this, it just comes up with the previous error. If I try to reinstall it comes up with a blue screen error and crashes.
I think I have a corrupted OS in my hands. My computer worked fine yesterday. This morning I added an extended SATA hard drive. When it booted, Windows XP (Pro SP2) startup seemed unusually slow. After I used the hard drive manufacturer's CD to partition the HD and rebooting, I could not get on any of the limited XP accounts because it required a password when it should not have. I am posting this from Firefox, which with a number of other programs unrelated to Microsoft seem to work for the moment. I think I'm missing system files or they are corrupt. I've recently had a Vundo infection which I did clean up, but now I can't even open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.This would be extremely horrifying had I not had past computer problems of equal horror. I beseech all you benevolent souls reading this to provide some suggestions. Is there anything I could do aside from reinstalling XP?
Lately my pc has experienced lots of different problems. It all started one day when I installed a program named xfire. It was running fine with xfire until I came home from school. Heres a list of the problems:
1. live messneger has forgot my email and runs slowly when i attempt to retype it. 2.Live messneger cannot connect at all. It just comes up with this message straight away 3. The copy of windows I'm running has been classed as an illegal copy by the microsoft website (my pc has a preinstalled installation of windows which was on when it was bought from a store). 4.Many installation programs now come up with errors about missing files. 5.I can't find any viruses with avast,ad-aware or spybot. 6. I uninstalled ie 7 which somehow allowed the normal windows messenger to work without the scripts errors I got before, but now I can't reinstall ie7. The setup always comes up with a missing file error.
My computer was OK since I shut it off last night. I don't know if I did something wrong to it. This morning, at the logon menu I was surprised~ There are many message boxes appeared saying that Program files is corrupted and bla bla bla~ If my dad knows this, I'll get grounded. The next thing I realised is, there are these start bar messages telling me " The file or directory H:Program Files is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility" and H is where my program files folder is because I renamed it from C to H.
I have two partitions on the same drive and both had Win XP installed. I decided to reformat the second partition, and for no particular reason decided to install Win 2000 there. Now on boot up I get the normal boot.ini menu but if I choose XP I get an error that says Win 2000 has a missing or corrupted file: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEMd……..SYSTEMd not a misprint! I hit reset and choose Win2000 at the boot menu and Win 2000 comes up OK . I tried to repair 2000 and I re-installed it but still get the same error. I tried modifying the boot.ini file but it didn't.
I got the following message upon booting my pc.STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}Te Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000022 (0x000000000 0x00000000).The System has been shut down. The day before I did a windows update.I can not boot into windows.. Not even Safe Mode or dos prompt.
while using the Windows XP Setup disk to partition the new drive, I accidentally used the "Create Partition and Install Windows XP" option, instead of just creating the partition. Unsurprisingly, Windows freaked out at having two copies installed on the computer, and it took me quite a while to salvage the thing so it would boot. I ended up using the second Windows install (on D: on the new disk), and left the old, unworking Windows install (on C:) dead on the original Western Digital drive.
I get an error on boot up telling me that the config file is corrupted or missing. IT also states to please insert CD to try and repair this problem. Press "r" before the first screen. If I do that will it try and reinstall XP? Will I lose all my data?
About 6 months ago I installed a 500-Gig Maxtor External HD I use as a "back-up" source. When I first installed it, it worked fine. Then I had a system crash and had to re-install WindowsXP Pro. Now this external drive is not recognized. A drive icon is also not displayed in My Computer. In System Hwde Devices, there is a yellow exclamation mark next to the (Maxtor 500-Gig) USB Mas Storage Device. I have made several attempts to uninstall this drive and re-install it but the same identical message appears each time: Mass Storage Device Not Recognized. I'm also getting a Code 39 error code informing me that the drivers for this device are either missing or corrupted. Some time ago I was told that I would have to uninstall and re-install Windows XP Pro if I wanted to correct this issue. Is this true?
The system can be restored by using the Startup CD and pressing R for recover, but I do not have any cd. The only one I have it the recover cd, but it is my understanding that if I use the recovery cd that I will erase everything from my computer and I can not do this.I tried to read the other threads about the same problem, but to be honest I do not understand them and I just do not have the startup cd - maybe it is the same as the recovery cd?
When I start the laptop, the first black screen loads, and then directly skips to an error message saying "Windows cannot start because the Windows/system32/ config/system file is either corrupt or missing." Then it prompts you to try to load Windows using the installation CD.which I do not have! Whoever's reading this, PLEASE please help me, the laptop's like, my life, and I haven't had the common sense to back up anything
My CD ROM/DVD player recently stopped working on my Omitech computer. From My Computer - I can't see the drive anymore. In the device manager - it has a yellow exclamation mark on it. I tried updating the driver but the message was that the software was already the best match. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it says a file is missing or corrupt. I bought a new external CD ROM - but have the exact same problem with it. I went to Run and put in sfc /scannow and there were problems that maybe could be fixed - if only it could read the XP CD - then it could fix the CD ROM. But it can't read the CD because of the problem with the CD ROM. (a whole in my bucket story.) So - how can I fix the problem if it wants a CD to fix the problem but the CD ROM is not working to read the CD?
Trying to repair my son's laptop--Dell Inspiron 6000 running XP professional, cannot start-up due to above error message.tried steps outlined in link below from Microsoft, but get "access is denied" at every prompt
I am new at this so I will try and post as much relevant (or possibly no) information in hopes not to waste anyone's time. I receive the following message each time I boot up my Dell Latitude 400 with Windows XP update with SP1 and 2: Windows could not start because the following file is corrupt or missing: windowssystem32configsystem. You can attempt to repair this file starting Windows Setup using the original Setup cd-rom. select "r" at the first screen to start repair.
just had a machine where the boot ini had been currpted so do a chkdsk /p then a fixboot in the recovery console and it came back fine. But now it boots soooooooooooooo slow about 1-2 mins but once up it is fine. It shuts down fina as well. Done all scans virus adaware etc so the machine is now clean. So how do I speed up the boot.
Hey all I wanted information on how to find a corrupted file in OE ... I'm unable to delete any messages and all my sent files are gone. I would like to reinstall OE but I don;t want to add in the corrupted file AGAIN
I am running Win XP Mediaa Center Edition 2005 and have just received a message on the second boot up page saying: Windows cannot load because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM You may attempt to recover or repair this file using the original Windows CD
i partitioned the drive when i first installed win xp. C: was already win98se and i thot i'd keep it around a while just in case., i had the dual boot workin' fine. but whenever i checked in on ol' win98 i got the error message about...whatever. i didnt care cause i never did have a case wher i needed it. so i just always booted to the winxp, which was the second partitioned, named E: and i figuerd one day i would just lose that win98 and make the whole drive winxp. the occassion arose when E: winxp wouldnt boot, error: corrupted system file. it seemed like a "good day to die" so i loaded win xp (pro) into that first partition, C:,and it just fit but with little room to spare. in fact, not enough to do anything, including loading antivirus. i acn still read everything on the E: logical partition, but i dont get to boot from there. i have a couple big eexternal HDD's oneon that machine, the desktype machine (250GB) and one on the laptop (400GB) which runs win xp. i can resort to moving things around, probably having to re-install a lot, but i have tried re-sizing the C: and E:,using Partition Magic (8.0) to no avail. it makes no changes. i've tried enlarging C: to use up the unused space in E:. when i re-boot,nothing has changed. tried merging the partitions, error is differnt cluster sizes, one is 2k, the other 4k. have tried to change the cluster sizes both ways. still no change.
I had a problem on booting which is caused by a virus which had corrupted some of the system files. All my efforts to get the system restore had failed. How do I get into the system to go to system restore points. All my efforts to choose all the alternatives in the screen such as safe boot, last known good configuration etc failed. It goes on a cyclic mode again and again coming to the same screen. In such a condition how to go to my system restore point to choose the earlier restore point.
I resently downloaded and tryed to install the Rise of Legends demo. during installation it would give me this error:Extracting to "Gocuments and Settings XXXXLocal SettingsTemp" Use Path: no Overlay Files: yes Extracting Rise_of_Legends_Demo.exe bad CRC 9e1b633a (should be a0137306)During installation i get:Setup failed to extract files from F:Cab2.CAB. This is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or a corrupted cabinet file. Please restart your machine and run setup again.
Last night XP was just fine, and this morning at first boot up, the typical files appeared when there is a problem...win.com, DBluff,Himem and etc were either missing or corrupted....So no way to restore it, the recovery disk couldn't,so I had to reinstall it on another partition.I wanted to copy my AOL program over to the new partition from the C drive and its just not there...gone. How is this possible?
When booting a computer comes up with a message saying that the following file is either missing or corrupt...C:WINDOWSsystem32configSystem It then sits there! Doin' nothing btw, the same happens in both normal and safe modes, last known good conficuration does not help, plus it also freezes when trying to log on to the recovery console.
I turned on my computer and windows didn't start up. It didn't even go into post or anything. What came up was that there was a corrupted file. winntsystem32 configsystem. I know this means that that file is missing but I cannot fix it because I don't have my Windows XP CD nor do I have a Startup Disk so I could recover the register. What I have done was, got a BART CD and booted from it and windows loaded but I don't know how to fix or find the corrupted file.
I had my kid start my computer Win 2000(mistake) and a different desktop came up. It came up with a registry error and that everything was in admin.bak I copied it to desktop and rebooted now everything is missing. Can I recover my files?
