I am trying to save animated gifs to use in MSN Live. When I right Click on the gif and then click on save, I only get a still image. What can I do please. Keep it simple please as I am not computer literate.

I just got my PC back from the tech guy. He formated my computer and reinstalled Windows XP including the Updates, I'm trying to install Windows Live Messenger (MSN) and it's not working. It's giving me errors like, to check that I have enough hard disk space (I have 176 GB free space), If my computer has a firewall , and that I make sure that my computer meets the system requirements I do meet the requirements

View 1 Replies View Relatedlets make this short and simple I have been getting this error for quite a while now and have tried to get it fixed on google this is the error I recieve: STOP 0x0000001e KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED in win32k.sys I have determined the cause of this with windows 2000 sp2 and 3 but I use windows 2000 sp4 and I have found nothing about this happening in sp4. It also runs somewhat different as it happens randomly and not as microsoft says with animated cursors, though it seems to happen more often when im trying to play a game, also when I try to do virus scans my computer will all of a sudden restart on me after a bit, im not sure if its always at the same place as the virus scan usually freezes up before my computer restarts, I have tried using Housecall and McAfee virus scans but it happens with both.
View 11 Replies View RelatedOur Dell running XP has several user accounts set up. Mine is fine, but my wife's has a problem. In Windows Explorer, when she clicks on the search button, the animated icon appears (dog, in this case), but nothing else - no choices (All files and folders, Pictures, music, or video, etc.) appear. Right-clicking anywhere only gives the Close Toolbar option. the result is that she is unable to search the computer for anything. Same result when using Start->Search. The weird thing is, as I said, Explorer in my user account is fine. I assume it must be a setting somewhere, but I can't find it. Anyone ever encounter this, or know how to remedy it?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI've been searching for most parts of the net and the forums here and did install uninstall restore my notepad, paint and wordpad but nothing seems to work.When these files are opened, nothing seems to be a problem. But whenever you attempt to save by Ctrl+S, or the by clicking File>Save or File>Save As the program automatically closes. This has been a consistent behavior for the 3 softwares.I'm using Windows XP 64 bit OS and had no error messages of any sort except that these programs just close themselves when a save attempt is done.I did virus and malware scans by Avast, ESET Nod & Kaspersky and nothing was detected.Reinstalling isn't an option for me now as I don't have any optical drive... besides, this may be very hard for me but I'm willing to suffer for the sake of learning.

So, if I was saving a photo, instead of clicking on My Documents >> My Pictures, I was able to just click on My Pictures, ect. (See Photo) Does anyone know of a tweak/program that would allow me to do this?

When downloading files, any type files, just using IE's dialog, or using a Download Manager's dialog, Explorer's Save or Save As panels *will not* allow me to create a new folder on XPpro [current user's] desktop! I am allowed to save the file to the desktop, and of course, can then create a new folder directly on the desktop with the context menu, and etc. It will allow me to create a new folder anywhere else and save any type file being downloaded into that new folder.It simply will not allow me to create a new folder on the Desktop.Could this be some kind of registry alteration?

But this week after the latest MS Updates 3 things have broke. Updates will not update. The MS Windows Updates pages hangs and will not DL the updates. OE 6.x will not DL the webbased email from: myname@msn.com MS Live OneCare will not update. Now this HP PC will not restart, reboot. It just hangs forever. And ever. All 4 things broke at the same time on the same day after DL'ing the MS Updates

She is trying to use Win Live Messenger.When she tries to open the messenger, even without the camera on, her system slows down or completely stops. Is Win Live Messenger compatible with XP? Is the old Intel cs630 web cam compatible (even with the drivers for XP)? It does tell her to have service pack 2 or above and she has service pack 3 installed.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWindows XP will not boot. After the first "Dell" screen, a blinking underscore appears on a blank page. The hard drive and all hardware are fine, as confirmed by friend computer wizards. This is without doubt a software problem.
I burned SLAX (a linux derivative) to a live CD and set my BIOS to boot from CD. SLAX is fantastic, but I wonder if I can restore windows to a previous point or investigate my boot sequence using SLAX's file manager There is a high likelihood that I have a trojan.
Side question: Would you recommend trend micro antivirus over norton? is there another antivirus option you'd recommend more highly than both of these?
I use Windows Media Player 10 as my primary media player. But I like to keep Real Player and QuickTime quietly waiting in the wings and call upon them occasionally. Well, I got the latest version of the Real player and clipped its wings so it wouldn't take over every audio and video file i have. Then downloaded the latest QuickTime player (after uninstalling the old one.) Every time an attempt is made to install the QuickTime player after 11 or so seconds into the process it stops and gives me this little message: "1607: Unable to install Installshield Scripting Runtime."
