How is it that i run Ad-Adware and it find a virus, i clean it, and it comes
back the next time i use my PC. Has it missed something?
I'v recently had a lot of virus, spam, adware problems with my pc. After a vain attempt to clean it up I reinstalled the OS. Now whenever I try to access my old desctop/my documents folder I get an 'access is denied' error. It is an NTFS file system.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI download the full version of sp2 here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en and I will burn this one file on a cd so:Can I just double click on this one file and it will install without being on the internet? Will this one file install everything I need to update my xp pro to sp2?I did all the ad-ware and virus scan and defrag, so I hope this one file works
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I run my Adware my AV pops up and says I have this Java.Shinwow.BA virus. It doesnt give me any way to clean it out so i'm wondering if this isn't some sort of spyware rather than an actual virus. Can somebody tell me how to delete this from my PC?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWindows XPCompaq 52002.7 GHZ512 MBWould like to know how to find out what is running in the background when I'm on. I have a problem with the computer freezing up when I try to do two things at once. Never had the problem until 2 weeks ago. Have done all the disk scan, defagment, checked all my adware & viris programs.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'll try to remember, to the best of my ability, the sequence of events...Suffice it to say that I downloaded and tried to install something I shouldn't have. I Immediately tried to get out of the errors from AVG (free version) and stop the install. All seems good, then IE keeps opening to bogus ad sites. I realize I've got something. AVG and AdAware both fail in removing this Win32Trojan.tdss (I think AVG gave me this description). AVG tells me to reboot to remove it properly. Reboot throws me into "can't verify this installation of Windows". Boot in safe mode work, then I get the same error on reboot...even in safe mode.
I don't have the original Windows CD (separated from husband and software at the same time; cannot find any software now), but it's a Dell and it came with Windows XP Home (product key on box), but I installed XP Pro instead. Don't know what product key was used or how to get it.....

I have a vundo infection (on it's automatic scans) i ran superantispyware pro and it said clean.
Then i restarted, and it was back.
I ran superantispyware pro again, along with cwshredder, spybot, spyware blaster, and prevx. the infection seemed to be gone, but then the next day trendmicro alerted me that it was in my system restore. so i turned off system restore, restarted, re-enabled system restore and made a restore point.
The infection isn't gone.

Boot partition (C) has about 3.5 GB free. As I start using the PC, the free space on C partition keeps reducing. It does not matter what I am doing - accessing internet, playing games or working with Open Office. Finally, after some time the free space falls below 200 MB and I start getting Low Disk Space warning.
I have cleaned up old files from this partition. The pagefiles are on D drive and secondary drive (G). The frequency of creating SR points by Windows is reduced to once a month.I also run Iolo System Mechanic and it has not reported any problems.
I created a BAT file to report directory and file sizes for "C:Windows", "C:Program Files" and "C:Documents and Settings" at regular intervals. There is some increase in size of some files in C:WindowsInternet Logs and C:WindowsLogs but that does not match the corresponding decrease in available free space (the decrease is greater).
I have this folder that keeps reappearing on my desktop. It does not matter how many times I delete it, this folder keeps comming back. There is nothing in the folder and it seems to comeback whenever I use windows media player. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this folder, its driving me crazy that I can't get rid of it.
View 11 Replies View RelatedCan someone please tell me why this is happening, I had created on my desktop 2'new folders', I then decided to delete these created folders, yet everytime I shut down my pc and reboot the following day, these 2 'new folders' miraculously keep reapearing on my desktop even though I deleted them earlier and cleared my recycle bin, how perfectly bizarre is this, can anyone shed any light on what I ought to do to permanently delete these from my pc?

I bought a P4 511 processor and an ASUS P5P800-MX motherboard and two 512 MB sticks of RAM I'm using my old 40 GB harddrive from my previous computer. I had installed Windows XP Professional with SP2 and it all worked fine. I then turned my computer off for the night and the next day when I started the computer it would not boot into windows it showed the error message "The following Windows file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM". I booted from the windows XP cd and went into the recovery console and used CHKDSK /R and when that finished Windows booted up fine. However everytime i turn the PC off the error occurs again. Any ideas how to fix this problem permanantly instead of jus until the next reboot?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter our Dell Inspiron E1505 recently crashed , Dell talked us thru diagnostics and finally sent us a replacement(refurbished) Toshiba hard drive to install in our computer. After installing it, and reloading all of the software for Windows XP, MS Office Small Business 2003, drivers and utilities, using the discs that came with the computer, we have a "Found New Hardware" window that pops up - Wizard trying to install a "Base System Device" everytime we turn the computer on. It asks for a disc but none of my existing ones seem to be the correct one. I've given it permission to connect to the Internet to "find" the software but nothing works. Also, since the crash/re-install, our C drive only has 12.4 GBs of total disc space, and of that, only 1.2 is still free space. My D drive has about 37 GBs of disc space. Could these two problems be connected? The computer was running so slow and we would periodically get a message "low virtual memory". This weekend, I moved as many of our documents as possible to the D drive to try and free up space. It's a little better, but why do I have such a small amount of disc space?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI think my computer has a worm. I've been using A2 and Ad-aware to try to clean it up, unsuccessfully. It says it found trojan horses and eliminated them but they're always back.
- My automatic updates are shut off, can't fix it.
- My service Pack 2 disappeared, along with the firewall.
- Sophos became disabled.
- My CD drive is only recognized periodically
Everytime I open a spyware or adware removal program it will just exit on it's own. Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, and even the spyware removal tool on System Mechanic 4

View 6 Replies View RelatedRestored entire pc as a result of spyware and adware. It's quick and clean, and I've never had a problem doing it before. I restored to Win98SE, then upgraded to XP Home, then downloaded Service Pack 2. Everything went smoothly. Then, tried to add Fax Service. First of all, it tells me to load the XP cd; then it says it can't find a .dll file it needs; continue without it? Yes. The job completes, but then I discover that IE and OE have disappeared. Back to "add windows components". Check IE and OE. Run the job and it ends "successfully". Check Fax, and it's gone, but IE and OE are back (with all the settings I had done after SP2). Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Pentium 4, 2.4 ghz, 2 GB ram. I have automated antivirus updates/checking from Panda, and spyware/adware detection/removal. I do jsp development using JDeveloper and on occasion my system would lock up (no Ctrl-Alt-Delete). I put up with it thinking that it was a JDeveloper peculiarity. A few weeks ago my system started locking up when the Panda antivirus software was running on start up. So I stopped the service and tried to run Panda manually. It locked up. I uninstalled Panda and tried another antivirus software. It locked up. Also, my spyware program locks up and it will intermittently lock up now at other times when I'm not using any of the above software
