View 14 Replies View RelatedMy computer is loading EVERYTHING very slowly, yet i clean every part i can: 'Disk Cleanup;' temp files; under Document & settings - Local Settings - then Internet temp files; i even defragment once a week. Yet even bringing up 'My Computer,' causes the 'search light' to try to find files (about 30 seconds later, it does).I've checked for viruses and adware and have none under AOL's system.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am about at the end of my rope with my daughters computer. She has AdWare
or whatever. I have run Spybot S&D v1.2, Spyware Doctor v3.2.1, Microsofts
Anti Spyware v Beta 1 and Ad-Aware SE. I have run them all numerous times
and the last time I ran As-Aware, it didn't find anything I've taken our
over 600 bugs. After all of that, when I connect to my ISP either FireFox or
IE, the screen goes crazy with adware screens and I get continuous IE errors.
I have all the MS updates.
I am having trouble loading software on my computer after removing adwareand spyware. Every time I try to install new software I get the followingerror messag:
C:WindowsSystem32Autoexec.NT. The system file is not suitable for running
MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
I had a message that my PC is infected by Spyware/adware this morning and it took me to PSGuard.com to install something to disinfect my PC. is it OK to use this or should I use something else?

View 4 Replies View RelatedRestored entire pc as a result of spyware and adware. It's quick and clean, and I've never had a problem doing it before. I restored to Win98SE, then upgraded to XP Home, then downloaded Service Pack 2. Everything went smoothly. Then, tried to add Fax Service. First of all, it tells me to load the XP cd; then it says it can't find a .dll file it needs; continue without it? Yes. The job completes, but then I discover that IE and OE have disappeared. Back to "add windows components". Check IE and OE. Run the job and it ends "successfully". Check Fax, and it's gone, but IE and OE are back (with all the settings I had done after SP2). Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Pentium 4, 2.4 ghz, 2 GB ram. I have automated antivirus updates/checking from Panda, and spyware/adware detection/removal. I do jsp development using JDeveloper and on occasion my system would lock up (no Ctrl-Alt-Delete). I put up with it thinking that it was a JDeveloper peculiarity. A few weeks ago my system started locking up when the Panda antivirus software was running on start up. So I stopped the service and tried to run Panda manually. It locked up. I uninstalled Panda and tried another antivirus software. It locked up. Also, my spyware program locks up and it will intermittently lock up now at other times when I'm not using any of the above software

After installing and scanning the whole system and removing whatever threats norton thought there was, the icon still remains. It still flashes in my system tray.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy computer has been going great since a few weeks ago. My computer is infested with spyware and viruses. I don't know how it got there but I get a pop up about once every click even when i'm not viewing webpages.
I have Ad-Aware, Spybot, and a program I purchased called XoftSpy. XoftSpy finds alot of the things on my computer but once they are deleted, they come back. Aurora is one of them.
In theory, my computer should be running like its brand new.I have no viruses, spyware etc.I have a junk file cleaner as well as registry cleaner. The only things that are running in the system tray are neccessary.I cannot put in anymore RAM.
So how come my computer still does not act as if it were new?
I am not sure where/when/how but I guess that is not important anyways. but I don't know where to start. What logs, information etc do you all wonderfully helpful people need to proceed. know some passwords were stolen... I have that under control but there are numerous little beasties creating havoc on my PC. How would you all like me to submit logs & which ones do you want?

I tried to clean up as best I could. I ran some spyware programs and antivirus and nothing too much showed up -- no viruses. It takes so long to run these programs that I go off and do other stuff and come back hours later and the scans are still running! Is there anything that you can recommend to get the laptop running as it should?

There are two excellent spyware removal apps available and they are both FREE so there is no reason to not use them regularly. The two best apps there are for removing spyware are SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad Aware. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU USE BOTH OF THESE APPS SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES AND VICE VERSA, YOU ARE NOT SAFE USING JUST ONE OF THEM. There is one other app that I HIGHLY recommend is for spyware prevention, SpywareBlaster. This app sets certain registry entries that prevent spyware from ever installing, it DOES NOT run in the background using any resources, you just set it and forget it. Once you have installed these three MUST HAVE apps you then need to update them and keep them up to date. I would recommend checking for updates weekly, it’s just like your antivirus app, you need to stay protected from the latest spyware out there. To update SpyBot just open the app from your start menu (use the advanced mode option) and select “search for updates” it will then show you what updates are available for download, always install all the updates. Another feature that SpyBot has is called “Immunize”, you will see an icon for it. Select the icon and under “Permanent Internet Explorer Immunity” select “Immunize” this works in the same way as SpywareBlaster in blocking new spyware. It also gives you the option of locking your hosts file against hijackers, I highly recommend using this option as well. To update Ad Aware just open it and select “Check for updates now”. For SpywareBlaster it is mostly the same, open it up and select “Check for updates” once you update this you then must select “select all” and then “Protect against checked items” so that the updates you just did take effect. Anything these apps find is spyware and should be removed, if you choose not to remove what is found then you have no one to blame if your pc crashes due to spyware or your privacy is invaded (including these companies stealing your credit card number and identity
