I am made a an html page wich using java script make a (Local)url (C:xxx.html) and redirect to it.My explorer always shows me a prompt that an active content is running
I can open the page without a prompt when running the file frim a remote location. But I want to run it from the clients hard disk(they don't have network). How can I remove that prompt from appearing.
I keep getting a prompt to remove "winlogon.exe" but I'm afraid to remove because it is part of the XP PRO System Folder. Anybody have some helpful info about this? I would really appreciate some help with this!

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe welcome screen refuses to show, even though i've selected "use the welcome screen" under user accounts. Instead I get the classic logon screen. Interesting to note, is that when "use the welcome screen" is selected, there is a black background to the logon, but when it's not selected (when classic mode is actually supposed to show), I get the logon with the default blue background. I've tried going into regedit and activated it manually, (used a 1 value), but I still get the classic logon screen.

View 7 Replies View RelatedRunning XP-Pr0-SP3 on a standalone home PC with 4GB RAM, 300 GB HD split 3- ways with OS on the 'C' drive, a 64- bit processor and TELUS high speed Internet.
Recently having replaced the mouse with a Logitech Wireless and not having had it start up, I read in the Logitech forum that a workaround would be to go to MSCONGIG and uncheck everything, re- start, then re-check the items I wanted to start up and re-start.
i then check all items in the startup tab and run a normal startup instead of selective.
I did this and now both Logitech and my Webshots program do not start at startup. Is there a workaround or possible change of permissions that I need to do to resolve?
This PC in the office, has Outlook Express installed & set up. Here's the thing - on the Inbox view it shows almost every email as having attachments, has the little paperclip icon next to the sender's name and all. However, on only three or four of those emails are the attachments available - on the rest that show attachments in the folder view, nothing is shown when opened, and the 'save attachments' option in the File menu is greyed out - not available. Basically, to OE the attachment simply does not exist beyond the icon in the folder view
View 15 Replies View RelatedIt has been about a week now and I have yet to solve a little problem with my taskbar.I've tried quite a few things to get tabs on the taskbar to show up when I open a folder or window, but all effort was in vain. I've looked in several other forums and felt that this place would provide the best answers/solutions. Reformatting is a last resort, and I want to avoid that. Can anyone help me?Problem: Nothing shows up on task bar when a folder/app/window is open. Only the Quicklaunch icons are there.e.g. Open firefox, nothing shows up on taskbar (I can right click taskbar choose different options etc - so it's not frozen) Opening Task manager shows firefox running on both the processes and application tab. So I can switch around that way. Alt+Tab also temporarily shows firefox and any other program/folder/window that is open as well. Minimizing the window causes it to disappear, so it looks like you haven't opened anything at all -but checking task manager shows the programs opened! Yet nothing shows up on the taskbar. (sort of funny since I ended up with literally 20+ windows of firefox on the alt-tab menu.

I go to user accounts then to change the way users log on or off but I get an error message: Client services for netware has disabled the welcome screen and fast user switching. This was an old computer that was used in a business and they all had passwords. It just comes up and says user is administrator and password is blank. If I hit enter it keeps going into windows. View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows XP with service pack 2. Every once in a while, a taskbar button will pop up for a fraction of a second, then dissapear. This never used to happen before, just started about a week ago. The button doesn't have any text on it, and the icon is just the generic program icon, so I have no idea what is doing this.The most annoying part is that while i'm playing a game in full screen mode, when the button pops up it will make my computer display the desktop and minimize the game.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been unable to stop the Windows logon screen from appearing, I have checked my settings, they have it disabled, yet I still get the Welcome screen and have to click my user name to logon to Windows. Is there some kind of other way I can disable this, a registry edit or any thing?It didn't used to be this way and I have no idea why it changed. This started after installing XP SP2. I checked and did have to change the setting to stop the Welcome screen, but it doesn't work. My system used to boot with no need for clicking or logging on.

If I go to the task manager, I notice I get multiple IEXPLORER.EXE processes appearing, some taking a good quantity of RAM over. If I try and end the process it comes back after a second and grows in file size. I've read some other threads and have HijackerThis 1.9, I can't see anything suscpicious in the log, but I'm a novice at that sort of thing. Also I checked for trojans etc and other files/folders but could see anything obvious.

View 13 Replies View Relatedi recently bought an acer laptop with windows media center installed by the company along with many other programs id like to get rid of. i have a copy of windows xp professional (32bit?). i first go into bios and change it to boot from cd first. i save and exit, my laptop reboots, after the bios screen, the screen goes black with one of those mini white lines you see in cmd.exe when your typing, on the top left corner for around 10 seconds. it then proceeds to the windows xp loading screen. it totally skips the boot from cd (windows cd). the model of my laptop is AMD turion 64x2 mobile technology TL-52. im not sure if 64x2 means that my laptop is 64bit, and my windows xp professional cd is only 32bit?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have strange lines appearing over and around my desktop icons.Doesn't have those in safe mode.Moving the cursor to a different section of the page I am on right now will change what is next to the cursor. What is around the cursor changes when the cursor itself changes from a pointer to a finger to whatever. Sometimes dots, sometimes a bold "i".Changing the hardware acceleration down one notch eliminates the problem with the cursor, but my cpu goes into overtime. Windows startup screen just has lines of small squares all over.The problems were worse until I d/l the latest drivers from ATI.And video update is slow, relatively speaking. Going from one busy window to another gives white windows. Can still watch deleted multiple emails disappear one by one.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy laptop has developed a problem where the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears at every boot. I'm running XP Home edition. This occurs even though I've selected "Normal" startup. Also, I can check the box to not show this dialog box again, yet it continues to appear. After appearing, it will tell me that I must reboot for the changes to become effective.
I've run spyware detectors and antivirus scanners but have come up with nothing. I downloaded a program Startup Monitor to see if it would identify anything. The message that I get upon boot with it is: "The program MSConfig has registered the executable C:WindowsPCHealthHelpCtrBinariesMSConfig.exe/auto to run at system startup"
Lately when I have several programs running, I have to go to Windows Task Manager in order to switch between them, because only one thing (the current program) has a space on the task bar showing it is open. I used to have a whole bunch of windows down there and could click on them to maximize. Don't know why this happened or how to fix it.

The problem I have is actually driving me nuts.I freshly installed Vista after formatting the drive and when I point to the only desktop icon which is the recycle bin I get this dialog asking if I want to send it to the recycle bin.No matter how many times I click on NO it won't go away and in my frustration I reboot the Laptop. have formatted the laptop several times and installed WIndows 7 and had the same problem. I also formatted and partitioned the drive and still had the same problem.I added a few more icons to the desktop and the same thing would happen if I pointed the mouse at them.
