Hp pavillion 2.7 ghz 1.5 gig ram 80 gig hdd all updates and sp3. Ran virus scan ,(avast) ok. malware bytes scan. ok. have zone alarm. Whenever I right click on an icon on desktop or in a window the little please wait hourglass appears...and never goes away . zone alarm icon in taskbar at bottom freezes and avast icon as well. I can hear my hdd periodically run. Ctrl-alt-delete does bring up taskman. if i look at performance cpu useage goes in sine wave form from 3-4% to about 35% up and down. every so often it peaks up to mid 80% then goes back to cyclying. at this point taskman locks up if I try to close it out.reboots don't help. I have not installed anything new in a while
A LG netbook turned it on and the cursor is just stuck there in the middle of the screen. I don't use a mouse, just the touchpad, so I can't even attempt to do anything. Everything else seems to be working fine in the background upon boot up and on the desktop, but the cursor won't budge. Tried to open control panel but obviously can't do that with the cursor stuck. Any options the DON'T involve me having to buy a new USB mouse
I got the system disks with it BUT the little midget has NO! optical drive at all how ever I do have a 8Gig usb flash drive and can make a bit for bit copy of the DVDs on to the usb drive will it boot ? after fixing my netbook because of a blank screen, there is no sound from the computer. I checked the sound settings and everything seems to be alright. Also the recovery program seems to be gone.
I can turn my netbook up and log in but at that point it just displays my background and i can ot do anything. Please help me get it running back to normal.
This evening I was using my netbook to listen to music offline, which was working perfectly well. I then closed the lid, which sent it to sleep, and upon opening it again, everything was going very slowly.
I re-booted the computer, which then took several minutes longer than usual to boot (whilst not booting quickly normally, being a low-powered machine, was a significant length of time longer amounting to around 2 or 3 times longer than normal), and the machine was still incredibly sluggish. It is also now unable to play audio files properly, it plays the first part perfectly coherently and then begins to lag more and more as the media continues. (The same occurs on any video files of any king played in any form)
Niece's netbook (Asus EeePC) running Windows XP has rather suddenly slowed to a real crawl. Think 5 minutes for a right-click menu to open, for example, instead of a split second. Last night I summoned the patience to start up the already-installed AVG virus scanner, and while it took hours and hours, it found zero problems. Ran CCleaner, no change. The desktop, icons, etc. etc. look correct and nothing seems awry except for the intolerable lack of speed. I realize it could still be a virus or malware, although I'm thinking of other explanations as well
We had an Acer Netbook Aspire One crash a couple of weeks ago. We have tried to restore and a varety of other things. The Netbook DOES NOT have a CD drive nor do we have an external CD drive. We have a 1Gig USB stick, We ended up by having to order 2 discs from Acer - 1 to fix the partition and one to fix Windows. How do we make the stick bootable? Would prefer it in simple terms please.
Whats the difference between a FAST reformat and a SLOW reformat when I reinstall WIN XP Home? I got a damned WinFixer ad ware crap program that keeps reappearing after I re install windows XP and did a FAST reformat. Wouldnt that wipe out that Ad -Ware?
My task bar is at the top of my screen. Can someone tell me how to put it back on the bottom? I've tried dragging it but it only moves halfway down and fills half the screen. I've tried dragging it from every edge and side.
Run XP at a low resolution, so I don't have lots of space for programs.Unfortunately, many programs, and windows run off the bottom of my screen and I can't see any of the options past that point. I can't move them because Windows won't let me move the programs past the top of the screen. There is the MOVE option from the menu in the top-left on some programs, but I am looking more for the ability to grab the windows anywhere, while maybe using a keyboard command, and dragging the window where I need it, past the edge of the screen.
When i try to open windows media player, the tab will come up on the bottom but the window wont open. I try to maximize and the tab shoots up to the left off the screen.
I am having a problem with the task bar. I used to have it on the bottom of my screen, but now it is on the top. not sure how it got there. I tried to move it back to the bottom but it won't go... I can move it up and down, but not to the side or bottom.
I just connected a new computer that has Windows XP. But the task bar at the bottom of the desktop is not showing. So I can not get to the window to shut down or restart. control panel, all programs, etc. Can you help me find that task bar
usually i have been able to keep several programs running on the bottom taskbar. now when i go to the internet to get one of my others started, it overrides the previous one on the bottom. this makes it very unhandy as you an't keep looking back and forth at the programs
I have 3 sets of computer icons in bottom bar. What does that mean ?One has a triangle with a Yellow Exclamation Point on it.Another has a red x .The 3rd one is just the 2 blue computer screens.
I know this is a worn topic, but I searched for similar questions and didn't find the same problem that I am having.Upon reboot, immediatley after the BIOS load screen, I get a white progress bar across the bottom of a black screen. It will move a notch then hesitate for a minute then slowly progress. Once it gets up to about two or three notches it will zip to the end and XP starts to load. If I reboot in Safe Mode the same hesitiation occurs as it loads the list of drivers.Once I start to see the desktop, it will take another 7 minutes or so before I can gain control of the computer and the hard drive runs continuously during that time.
Out of nowhere for some reason not everything is loading on the bottom right hand corner of my screen.Sometimes it loads now and sometimes it doesn't load.I tried to check for spyware but it found nothing is there anything.Dell Inspiron 2200 Intel Celeron(R) M Processor 1.40GHz 504 MB RAM.
I had a few icons at the bottom left of screen (next to the start button)for my email and a couple of other programmes. For some reason they have disappeared, how do i get them back, I tried dragging and dropping but they just pop back to the desktop.
Since my last auto matic update from Microsoft on 28th Aug 2005,I keep getting a Security warning in the bottom right hand of my Monitor. On Checking on it,it refers to Anti Virus & I have Nortons Anti Virus With Auto Updates when ever I log onto the internet.I have run Nortons Anti Virus & my Computer is all clear. How Can I get rid of this warning.
I have upgraded my browser from IE6 to IE7..I kinda like the new IE7 and the paging it provides some things will take a little getting used to; for instance while I have my browser open I have no way to look at the clock or my antivirus status because these were on the BOTTOM toolbar. For some reason I have not figured out how to have this BOTTOM toolbar displayed while my IE7 browser is open
My wife was playing cards and when I went to computer after she had quit the task bar had moved from the bottom of the screen to vertically up the right hand side of screen. How do I get that moved back to the bottom of screen as it should be for me?
I just booted up, got onto the internet, was reading some email and noticed that everything at the bottom of the screen, ie. the start button, certain program startup icons and the taskbar, have disappeared. I was going to attach a HijackThis scan, but don't know how since the log page saved is not visible at the bottom of the page.
