Possible To Burn CDs Through MS Virtual PC?
Apr 10, 2008
I've got a version of Nero that's not compatible with Vista and I've grown to really like, so I thought I'd install it on an XP virtual machine after I upgrade, but I'm trying it out now and it doesn't seem to recognize that my drive is a burner. But, the reasons I want to do it I suppose aren't really relevant. I realize I could write an iso and burn it in Vista, but is there just a way to get VPC to recognize my burner? My computer specs are in my sig, and my first burner is just whatever default comes with that computer (sorry, I honestly don't know how to tell anything more specific about it), and my second burner is an external usb dvd burner, called "ez-dub."

I know it's maybe the wrong NG, but could you help or direct me to the right one. This morning I tried to burn data to a DVD......only burnt the intro then stopped with a error.Tried again ... same thing...Virus checked, spyware checked, all OK Did a sfc scannow, did a system restore to 2 days ago.Tried again, same results.Un-installed Nero and removed all traces from registry.Reloaded Nero.Tried again, same results.
I can burn to DVD-RW and CD-RW and CD-R but not DVD+ or DVD-I am adding the error message, I know its long but in other posts it has been said that not enough info is given.Nothing unusual happened at shutdown last night or bootup this morning.Problems seem to start at 8:48:15 AM #21 I don't know how to interpret this data

I am running Virtual PC 2007 on a Vista Platform. Everything is good with the exception of setting up shared folders. I have three guest PCs running. I have installed Virtual Machine Additions on all three. I am able to set up and access a shared folder on the host system on one of the three with no problem but the other two refuse to access any shared folder. When I configure the shared folder, it shows up in the guest PC under MyComputer, but it shows as "disconnected" and is inaccessible.

I keep getting the error message that my Windows virtual memory minimum is too low. I have Microsoft Windows 2000 and the following settings: total paging file size 205 MB; minimum 2 MB; Recommended 190 MB; Currently allocated 205 MB; current registry size 21 I'm not the system administrator so I can't change these numbers. I also couldn't find the pagefile.sys that someone suggested looking for. My IT guys don't know what's wrong; they reformatted my computer but I got this error message again. What should I tell them to do?

When I drag files to my CD burner and try to burn them by right clicking the driver and choosing Write These Files To CD the wizard always says there is no disc in the drive. I have no problem burning with Nero 6 or other burning programs that I use. The IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service is running. The computer is a Dell Inspiron 9300 running XP Pro SP2 with a NEC DVD +-RW ND6500A drive.

increasingly I am coming across more and more files that are over the 700 MB limit when burning data to CD-Rs (e.g. the file might be 950MB) Instead of writing them to DVD - is zipping them and then burning to cd ok? I do not want to go back to the file in a couple of months to learn that the file got corrupted during zipping or failed to decompress properly. So your experiences / opinions of zipping files and then burning them to CD-R?

I use Nero 6 expression to make a backup copy of my video and music files, but it takes me around 2 hrs to complete the burning process. The DVD disc is made by Sony with maximum 4.7GB capacity, and supports 1-8x burning speed. Is it better to zip the files before they are burned?

I'm trying to create a bootable slipstreamed CD with Windows XP SP2. I have everything extracted and the update applied to the files. Files are on the hard drive. The problem is in burning the CD.I'm using Nero 7 Ultra. I choose Boot CD and check the box to enable expert features (according to instructions: ttp://www.helpwithwindows.com/Windo...2-bootcd.html).The problem is that the box doesn't stay checked. Consequently, the CD doesn't boot. I've removed and reinstalled Nero and rebooted several times. No error messages, nothing. I check the box, click OK, go to Compilation Properties, and the box is unchecked

If you wanna burn a CD on one of your company's computers, and if that computer has cd-burning disabled, you think: Huh? It's just a checkbox! Well it ain't. They have probably used a reghack which i call cdr_off. This is the reghack that they have prolly used:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer]"NoCDBurning"=dword:00000001If you want to ENABLE CD-burning, copy the regcode above into notepad, change the 1 to a 0 and save as cdr_on.reg. Run it and voilá!

I was burning a DVD on my roommate's computer and the DVD burner quit doing anything about halfway through it. I click cancel, wait a few minutes, nothing happens. I close the program through the task manager, I get nothing. After waiting a couple more minutes, I press and hold the power button on the tower. Anywho, I restart the computer and it takes me to this screen here: What's wrong? BTW, no hardware has been installed/uninstalled since he bought the computer.
FWIW, I'm fairly familiar with Windows.

Iam having touble burning audio files from my windows media player. it begins to burn and then I get a bubble from my task bar that warns about low disk space. The burning only goes for anywhere from one to five songs worth then stops. When I click on those that didn't burn I get a window that reads, "Windows Media Player cannot burn the files because there is not enough free disk space to store the temporary files. Delete some unneeded files on your hard disk and then try again".
