View 14 Replies View RelatedIn windows explorer when you click the folder Program Files the right side pane is gray due to hidden files. There's an option in that pane which says "show files", I clicked that and it displayed the hidden folders. How do I restore it as it was before? I tried tools>folder>view and ticked "do not show hidden files and folders" but it still shows the folders.
View 6 Replies View Relatedwhen I would open up folders and Windows Explorer would have an error message and then it would refresh my computer and close all Windows Explorer Window(s). Ive researched quite a bit in my spare time in the past two days and found that it could be related to ntdll.dll. But in my research I haven't really found any solutions, yet it almost seems like a common/uncommon problem.
I have done a few system restores all of which were unable to return to a previous state. I am up to date on the latest virus/spyware/adware definitions and ran scans using: Norton Internet Security 2007, Spy Sweeper, AdAware, Spybot Search & Destroy and Stinger......
Anyone know how to permanently disable/remove the explorer bar pane in windows XP explorer. I have been searching for 2 hours and can not find a answer. If i press the x it goes but next time i open a window it is back.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm set up to run folder windows in a separate instance of Explorer for better stability. But When I close all the windows for the second instance of Explorer, the process frequently does not terminate. So then when I try to open another folder window, nothing happens. I have to quit Explorer manually to get it working again. This has happened several times now, and I'm getting tired of it. I'm running XP MCE 2002 Edition, all the latest updates.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having major problems with my computer. I can't access folders, My Computer, Internet Explorer, etc. When I click on any of these, it thinks for a little bit, and then does nothing. I am running Windows XP SP2. Does anybody have any idea what I can do? I have tried just a Diagnostic Startup. . .but it basically does the same thing.I haven't loaded any new programs or software lately. About the only major change was early in October, I started using an iPod and I have transferred quite a bit of music files to the hard drive.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI clicked on Windows Explorer and it opened but the left pane did not expand and there was not even a + sign if front of the C: drive to expand it. My shortcut path to Explorer is and has been: %SystemRoot%explorer.exe /n,/e,C: and I have it open maximized. It was working just fine about supper time and then I went to do other things and when I came back I had the problem. I have not installed any software nor made any system changes.

View 14 Replies View RelatedOn XP Pro I used to have it set up so that when I opened or saved a file(regardless of the program being used) it would show the folder list on the left side of the open/save file window (like in Windows Explorer when you do a folder list in the left pane). Now, it only shows certain groupings like My Documents, My Computer, My Network, etc. in the left pane. How do I get folders back?
View 2 Replies View RelatedUntil recently Windows Explorer has shown the title of a CD inserted into either the CD Rewriter or the DVD reader drive on my PC. Since about two weeks ago, XP does not react at all to the insertion of a disk until I click on the relevant drive letter in the left pane of Explorer. It then shows the content of the disk but still does not show the disk title info. In addition Autorun no longer operates even though it is enabled.
View 1 Replies View Relatedin windows xp professional's explorer the left pane shows the directory-tree structure, and the right pane shows the files in the selected directory.
When I run the mouse over the directory-tree I can see that the tree items become highlighted with an underline. By single-clicking on a directory item in the tree that item is expanded in the left pane (so the subdirectories are shown), and the contents are displayed in the right hand pane.
Is it possible to stop the subdirectory expansion in the left hand pane?
I just want to select the directory there, not see a list of all the subdirectories with a single click. On the other hand, with a double-click I would like the expansion of subdirectories to occur. Is this at all possible
in XP?
My mother-in-law's PC Seem to have a problem. Everytime she double click on IE7 It launches the program then it simply vanishes. Same goes when she tris to acces her email through Windows Live messenger (I configured her email in Windows Live Mail, so no worries for that)I can see the process in task manager ( a good dozen of time if she clicked on it that many time) At first, I thought it was a Virus... but I scanned using Avast Home Ed.... to avail. nothing found

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of a problem. As far as I know, my comouter is completely free of viruses and spyware. For about a month and half now, I've been receiving the error message "Windows cannot open user accounts control panel" every time I double-click on User Accounts in Control Panel. I've been to many sites and I'm still stumped. I think the problem lies in the file nusmrgr.cpl being damaged or defective. If anybody can't offer me some advice or point me in the direction of a download or a recommended piece of software. is (obviously) Windows XP and I've already tried System Restore and Roxio GoBack.
