i have a dell inspiron B130 laptop with a lexmarx 4200 series all-in-one printer. when i try to scan a document to a file,it goes directly to my photo editor instead. i have tried restarting the computer and turning off the printer to no avail.
View 3 RepliesIm trying to UN install my Lexmark Z45 printer, inorder to install a new printer, but a pop up box keeps coming up and says something like cannot uninstall because printer is in use, (and its not),I actually unplugged it and put it in a box, now I have it connected again to try and uninstall but I keep getting the same message. I want to uninstall so I can install the new one. If I dont uninstall will there be a problem when I try to install the new , Lexmark X1185??? Im begininng to wonder if I should have gotten Lexmark again>Ive tried 3 different things, and they dont work.

What I want to do is be able to print something from my laptop computer connected through a cat5 cable to the router which is tied to the desktop network card and to it's Lexmark Z45 printer. I know this is supposed to be simple, but can some one explain what they know about performing this feat?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy fax printer driver must have become corrupted because the console said there was no printer driver installed. I went to Add Windows Components, added Fax again and nothing happened. Went to Printers/Add Printer and let the wizard add a fax driver and it came up with a Microsoft Office Document Image Driver on LPT1. Fax Console still complains there is no fax driver, so I'm assuming that's the wrong printer driver.I'd like to force the install of a printer driver but I don't know what port it's supposed to be on and where to go to look for the driver.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI do all my document scanning in M$ Office. It scans documents as a .tif file which open with M$ Office Document imaging. However, every few weeks, the .tif file extension disappears from folder options/ file types, my scans have a generic icon and open with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, which I don't like. I have to enter a new file type with a .tif extension to get my scans to open again in Document Imaging.

There are literally millions of files. I knew the System File Checker but it is only for Windows system files. I want to check the health of all my data files. Disk checking, as far as I know, has nothing to do with file corruption. The drive can be healthy even if some files have been corrupt unrelated to drive failure reasons.I tried to search on the net but couldn't find any.

I know networking the two is a simple procedure and I did that too. My problems began when I switched from dial-up to satellite (Wildblue)internet. Don't know if that could have made a difference.Here is what I've tried so far. I first googled the problem and then took all the advise I could find, followed all the directions and nothing worked. I believe the two machines are networked because they are sharing the internet connection and when I did the 'ping' thing, each computer communicated with the other. I've done the printer sharing procedure over and over and over and when I go to the laptop, the printer on the desktop doesn't even show up. Both the pc and the laptop are on the same workgroup so that's not the problem.I

View 4 Replies View RelatedI went to use PerfectDisc yesterday, it suggested I do a bootup scan, I did, allowed it to do pagefile scan too. Ran fine. Then rebooted, went to do regular scan. it locked up on the Blue Screen of Death.
"Bad_Pool_Header" and gave some error info... 0x00000019, and so on.
Computer runs fine though otherwise, which is funny.
Then when I try to go to Registry Mechanic and scan, it goes all the way through, and on I believe the deepscan, it always goes to BSOD there. I think while it's in the HKEY section of current user.
There may be other programs that will cause the BSOD, but these 2 are the only ones so far. Please guide me through this....Anyone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedTried to use her wireless adapter on my wireless network and ever since that day I've had printer problems. What happens when I say print is the printer icon appears in my taskbar, hangs around for about 15 seconds (as if printing is occuring) then it goes away but the printer never prints. If I open Control Panels and go to Printer, it too breifly shows one document printing for a few seconds, as if it is printing. It is as if the file has been spooled, but the spooler doesn't send the file on to the printer. My desire is to print. My question (hopefully on that road to printing): Is there a print spooler in Windows XP? Any way to monitor it other than control panel printer?

During my network troubleshooting, I was checking my NIC configuration on my desktop to make sure that file and print sharing was enabled and realized that there is nothing installed, no clients, services, or protocols. When I try to install I got an error message that the file could not be found.This is strange because I get access to the internet.Is this possible?Could this be the reason my laptop cannot access the desktop? My wife said that it had completed some updates this AM when she turned it on. This computer has a GE7600 video card. It also runs very hot so I'm wondering if perhaps the card might have cooked.
