Im trying to UN install my Lexmark Z45 printer, inorder to install a new printer, but a pop up box keeps coming up and says something like cannot uninstall because printer is in use, (and its not),I actually unplugged it and put it in a box, now I have it connected again to try and uninstall but I keep getting the same message. I want to uninstall so I can install the new one. If I dont uninstall will there be a problem when I try to install the new , Lexmark X1185??? Im begininng to wonder if I should have gotten Lexmark again>Ive tried 3 different things, and they dont work.
My desktop computer running window xp home edition has a Lexmark Z45 printer connected through a USB port, I am connected to the internet through a router connected to a cable modem, my laptop (window xp home edition) n the living room also connects through the router/cable modem... What I want to do is be able to print something from my laptop computer connected through a cat5 cable to the router which is tied to the desktop network card and to it's Lexmark Z45 printer. I know this is supposed to be simple, but can some one explain what they know about performing this feat?
We've just purchased a new laptop and would like to be able to print from our Lexmark printer (attached to a desktop pc) that is in another room. All attempts to "add another printer" have been futile. I can't seem to locate a printer when I "browse" for one and have no idea what the URL is for our Lexmark.
i have a dell inspiron B130 laptop with a lexmarx 4200 series all-in-one printer. when i try to scan a document to a file,it goes directly to my photo editor instead. i have tried restarting the computer and turning off the printer to no avail.
In the printer and faxes window there are printer icons listed in addition to my default HP Printer. Whiy are they listed there and what do they do since you can't use them...or can you and if so, how? Two that are listed on my computer are:
I bought a new HP printer today. I had a hotfix installed at some point that shutdown and woke up my printer at shutdown and startup. The new printer isn't affected by this hotfix. Does anyone know where I can get this patch?
Two custom PCs with XP Pro at same SP level. PC1 sees printer through switch. PC2 can not see printer. PC2 connects and sees printer when I cable the USB DIRECTLY to the printer instead of going thru a switch. Therefore, I know PC2 can print. Have tried 2 different switches. An A/B data switch and Belkin's 4x1 USB Peripheral Switch F1U401. PC1 works with both switches but PC2 does not.
We've had to change our address space and therefore the printer address has changed. I've changed the address on all but one computer. On this particular computer when I try to edit the TCP/IP port I get the message:
"An error occurred during port configuration. Access is denied."
If I try to create a new port I can select that I want it to be a Standard TCP/IP Port and then it tells me:
"Specified port cannot be added. Access is denied."
I have connected 3 new PC's on a P2P network, and connected a HP 4610 Color Laser Printer via a JetDirect 175 print server. On one PC, I can only print from the Administrator account. The other 2 computers work fine. On the one that is having issues, when printing a test page I receive a "Failed to Print" error mesage, and looking in the printer jobs menu, it shows that there was an error printing. The Administrator account can print fine from this machine.
The user accounts are "restricted user" accounts on all 3 computers. All 3 computers are exactly the same type, and all have the latest updates.
After a system crash all printers are gone and when trying to add a printer I get the message: "Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running" After starting the service manually and trying to add a printer I get the message:"Operation could not be completed" and the service is stopped again.I looked at some of the previous answers and related topics (like article nine, and Q324757
I'm a tech at a college and am working on this computer that the printer spooler service won't stay started. You start up the machine and go to printers and faxes. There are none listed (of course cause the spooler isn't running) You click on add printer and it tells you that the service isn't running. So you go to run services.msc, printer spooler says it's stopped so you start it. It will then run until you try to print something or go to printers and faxes in the control panel. Basically as soon as you open the window the printer spooler service stops.Does anyone know a fix for this. Last time it happened one of my co-workers found a tool to fix it but we haven't been able to find it since and all the researching I have done leads me nowhere
I have setup my three printers for internet shraring, when i goto http://doamin/printers > click on the printer > connect > it asks for username and password, i give, and it gives some error saying i am not allowed to use printer.
My new Epson inkject printer has used up all the original inks supplied and I've fitted compatible cartidges. But I now get a message when I try to print saying that I'm not using genuineink! Does my new C86 now actually PREVENT me from using compatibles? If so, is this legal?
I have an OfficeJet 710, when I load something to scan, fax or copy the Document Manager box does not come up. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the printer but that doesn't help. I think my problem may be that when my computer was upgraded to Windows XP, they didn't include my printer therefore, it isn't compatible with my system.I can still copy, fax and print, but, only from the printer itself. Not from the Document Manager.
I did a "clean" install of Windows XP Pro Version 2002 SP2, replacing the corrupted OEM XP Home version installed by CompUSA. Since then, my two printers don't work. One is a Brother HL-1440 laser printer, the other an HP officejet 6110 all-in-one. I reinstalled the drivers for both, even went online and downloaded the most recent version of the 1440 driver. No joy. Clearly, I've done something wrong, but what?
COMPUTER: HP Pavilion 7935 AMD Athlon processor 1.30GHz, 624megs RAM
You never know how much you need your printers until the day you can't print.
i was having problems with my printer i unstalled it. tried to reinstall and a message comes up 16 bit sub file not compatibale with ms-dos and windows i do not know what this is help.
I just bought my wife a Dell Laptop with wireless capability. My desktop is in another part of the house with a printer attaced. I would like for her to be able to use my printer when she is in the kitchen printing out recipes etc. I wentthru the Control panel, Printers and Faxes, right click etc and checked "sharing" on the desktop that has the printer attached. I am not having much success getting the laptop to print. I have Windows XP on both computers.
I got and DOS program that need to print to to network printer. the only way to acces that printer is by IP adress. So, is there a way to redirect an LTP port to an IP printer ?
I have a HP Officejet 710 All-in-one,when I try to install my printer it dose not install,I keep getting a message,C:WindowsSystem32AutoExec.NT.The system files not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows. Applications. What can I do to install this printer
My XP SP2 is not detecting any new printer attached. Both parallel and USB ports are not being detected. When I connect the printer and reboot, its like nothing at all has happened. The PC sits there finished booting, calm and quiet. They were being detected and installed some time ago. I suspect it might be a window corruption.. or some registry problem. Is there any way to refresh the windows registery so that it will start picking up printers again? Other devices like memory stick, external hard disk etc. are being picked up and working fine with USB
How do i get rid of the stupid little printer icon in my taskbar? it is a network printer (set up on another ocmputer and im networked with that computeR)
Two years ago I bought and installed a USB2 Card on my PC (Windows XP with SP2). Last week when I bought a new Printer (Canon MP 750), which uses USB2. When I connected, IT WOULD NOT WORK; but when I connected to a USB 1, IT WORKED, albeit with a message that"IT WOULD WORK FASTER WITH USB2" and inviting me to "clickhere" to find a suitable Port. I did this, of course, but was met with a message that"NO HI-SPEED USB HOST CONTROLLERS ARE INSTALLED ON THIS COMPUTER".
My printer locks upp my entire WinXp pro when telling it to print something out. There's nothing wrong with the printer itself or the cables attached to it, a've checked on another comp. Also tried to reinstall the LPT1 port and the drivers several times without no success. Even checked so that there's no other software that interferes with the printer drivers. and did run a virus check, both in Win and in pure DOS-mode, nothing. Starting to suspect that the LPTport on my Mobo- ASUS P4P800E Deluxe is screwed. The setting in BIOS is set to ECP as default and can't be manipulated.
We've got upwards of 400 workstations running Windows XP SP2. They also have the Novell Client 4.91 SP4 and network printers are managed through NDPS. Several months ago 20 new printers (IBM Infoprint 1532) were deployed across our LAN. Today I was told that the following changes need to be made by February: 1) In the printer driver properties, Enable the Duplexer 2) Under printing preferences, set Duplexing as the default. I was told that we techs need to physically touch each workstation to implement these changes.
I recently ought an E-machines computer running XP MCE w/SP2. It has an AMD 3400 processor and 200GB HD and 1MB RAM. I had transitioned all of my files and applications from a Windows 98 machine using Aloha Bob's PC Relocater. Everything seemed to work fine, however, my USB ports will not recognize anything except my printer (no external flash drives or my digital camera - software is loaded onto the computer). I had contacted E-machines tech services and they asked me the usual stuff, like disabling the ports and restarting the machine, check the BIOS to ensure they are enabled, etc. Now they are suggesting I run a ''Non-Destructive'' System Retore. Naturally I will back up my files and apps on DVD, but my concern is will I be able to reload the apps to which I do not have disks for? Is there something elese I should do prior to running the System Restore (in SAFE mode??). Also do you think this will work and restore my USB ports?
Running WindowsXP with SP2. Word 2003. OE6. IE6. Have HP 1210 all-in-one and Canon BJC2010. Both work fine. Problem when I wish to print a document, or e-mail text, or whatever, and click on ctrl+P, or use File menu, or whatever, I always get the printer I do not want to use. I use the HP for scanning and copying, particularly in color, and prefer the Canon for regular printing from Word or OE or IE. But somehow each time, I get the HP rather than the Canon. Now on the window for printing they always have a list of options, so this is not a crisis, just a request to lower the nuisance titre a bit. There should be a place to go to select a default printer.
I am trying to install a Lexmark Z515 printer on my computer and I keep getting a message about USB Printer Support- can't remember the wording but anyway it won'tlet me continue do I need to do anything like enabling the USB ports? Or is there
- Doesn't recognize the printer that's been installed for over a year
- Won't let me install another one
- System restore gives the error "System restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer, and then run System Restore again." and restarting does nothing.
