I have an OfficeJet 710, when I load something to scan, fax or copy the Document Manager box does not come up. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the printer but that doesn't help. I think my problem may be that when my computer was upgraded to Windows XP, they didn't include my printer therefore, it isn't compatible with my system.I can still copy, fax and print, but, only from the printer itself. Not from the Document Manager.

I hate it lol, not to start an argument discussing pros and cons of Vista....i just want to ask, since the HP website does not have a category of drivers for Windows XP x64 Drivers, i am wondering of the 32bit will be able to work with x64 xp?.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running WinXP Pro (Build 2600) -- upgraded from Win 2000, and am unable to select different compatibility modes for programmes. It used to be that I could set it by right-clicking on the .exe of the programme I wanted to run under a different Win OS (Win 9x, NT etc.) and just click on the 'Compatibility' tab. That tab is no longer there.I also tried running the Compatibility Wizard (Start>All Programs>Accessories), but when that loads the buttons that should say 'Back', 'Next' and 'Exit' have no text on them. If I click the button that should say 'Exit' then the Wizard closes. However, clicking on either of the other two buttons does nothing so I am unable to go through the wizard.It's been several months since this happened, but I never really thought about it until recently because it wasn't until now that I wanted to put an old game on my system; but make no mistake, it's not just the game that won't do it, I can't set the compatibility for any program I have installed, or would want to install. System Restore doesn't go back far enough to try that, so I'm not sure what else to do. Possibly unrelated: At one point, I somehow managed to disable Task Manager; even manually replacing the file for it in the Windows directory didn't bring it back, although it did eventually return seemingly of its own accord. That may have been around the same time that I lost the compatibility ability, but I can't say for certain.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a typical 19" LCD monitor and a nvidia GeForce4 MX4000 video card. I would like to upgrade to a 22" Wide Screen LCD. I noticed that the max pixels on my present card is 1280x1024. I think the new LCD is 1680x1950. I am using Windows 2000 pro and the motherboard is a 2.4 Ghz. Do I need to get a new video card to support the new monitor? I use the computer for general stuff, day to day, like word processing, excel, and net surfing, nothing exotic or fast.

View 2 Replies View RelatedTwo custom PCs with XP Pro at same SP level. PC1 sees printer through switch. PC2 can not see printer. PC2 connects and sees printer when I cable the USB DIRECTLY to the printer instead of going thru a switch. Therefore, I know PC2 can print. Have tried 2 different switches. An A/B data switch and Belkin's 4x1 USB Peripheral Switch F1U401. PC1 works with both switches but PC2 does not.

Since installing IE 7 from the MS update site the program no longer works. The dialog box comes up but nothing happens when you click on a button to go to the site. Normally IE opens up and takes you to the site. I'm running Zone Alarm Internet security Suite and haven't changed anything in that program.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop on wich I recently updated to SP3. I have had no problem what so ever, nore do I see any difference. I even have a D-Link wireless card and contrary to some saying it caused major problems after SP3, everything is working fine for me. I updated from SP2 to SP3 with Windows Update when prompted. Perhaps this is the key to possible problems. I read about people installing from a CD or iso image or downloading from whatever questionable website. Please do it the standard way and it should work ok. There seems to be a possible issue with AMD processors so try to get more info if you have this type of processor.
I still didn't install SP3 on my main computer at home and I don't quite understand why I don't even get prompted for it. But I can see it in Windows Update. I'll first test it on my laptop but unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to really fully test it because I have very few programs on it to check compatibility issues, compared to my main computer.

I recently bought a new notebook running xp-pro and I am unable to get it in the network to function with the other three. My main issue is that I have one printer which I use for all the pc's running on home they all print and are recognized on the network. The man in PC World said he didn't think SAGE would work with Windows 7 so recommended i buy a HP with XP built in for 580 with 22" monitor. View 12 Replies View RelatedWe've had to change our address space and therefore the printer address has changed. I've changed the address on all but one computer. On this particular computer when I try to edit the TCP/IP port I get the message:
"An error occurred during port configuration. Access is denied."
If I try to create a new port I can select that I want it to be a Standard TCP/IP Port and then it tells me:
"Specified port cannot be added. Access is denied."
I have connected 3 new PC's on a P2P network, and connected a HP 4610 Color Laser Printer via a JetDirect 175 print server. On one PC, I can only print from the Administrator account. The other 2 computers work fine. On the one that is having issues, when printing a test page I receive a "Failed to Print" error mesage, and looking in the printer jobs menu, it shows that there was an error printing. The
Administrator account can print fine from this machine.
The user accounts are "restricted user" accounts on all 3 computers.
All 3 computers are exactly the same type, and all have the latest
updates.
After a system crash all printers are gone and when trying to add a printer I get the message:
"Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running" After starting the service manually and trying to add a printer I get the message:"Operation could not be completed" and the service is stopped again.I looked at some of the previous answers and related topics (like article nine, and Q324757

I'm a tech at a college and am working on this computer that the printer spooler service won't stay started.You start up the machine and go to printers and faxes. There are none listed (of course cause the spooler isn't running) You click on add printer and it tells you that the service isn't running. So you go to run services.msc, printer spooler says it's stopped so you start it. It will then run until you try to print something or go to printers and faxes in the control panel. Basically as soon as you open the window the printer spooler service stops.Does anyone know a fix for this. Last time it happened one of my co-workers found a tool to fix it but we haven't been able to find it since and all the researching I have done leads me nowhere

View 8 Replies View RelatedI did a "clean" install of Windows XP Pro Version 2002 SP2, replacing the corrupted OEM XP Home version installed by CompUSA. Since then, my two printers don't work. One is a Brother HL-1440 laser printer, the other an HP officejet 6110 all-in-one. I reinstalled the drivers for both, even went online and downloaded the most recent version of the 1440 driver. No joy. Clearly, I've done something wrong, but what?
