Every Program Automatically Installing To Program Files?

Mar 21, 2005

It is frustrating having every program automatically install to program files, including minor things like audio attachment. I know I'll end up with tons and tons of folders in program files. Beyond that, I can't access program files from the other computers on the network. Is there a good way to reorganize/move files to my C drive in a way that would be efficient and wouldn't require reinstalling every single program in a different place?

Installing Program On For Single User

Sep 27, 2006

We currently running Windows XP Home on our 2 Pc's at home. Four people use the PC's and we each have our own logins. Is there a way so that when my son installs new software, (he seems to install about 10 new programs per day), it will ONLY populate his program list on his logon and NOT the program list for the other 3 users of the PC? I notice that some installations ask if there will be a single or multiple users of that program, but what I would really like is to be able to be selective EVERY TIME.

Registry Mechanic And Shortcuts

Jul 3, 2005

I have recently installed and used Registry Mechanic and decided to accept to repair abut Four Hundred faults as I noticed I could reverse the repair if there were any problems. I am delighted to say that there were none but I noticed that the box for repairing shortcuts was not ticked. On ticking it I was found to have about four hundred faults again connected with shortcuts, can I safely repair these problems as I did the first lot or should I know about something before I decide to use the repair function again, I would be grateful for some advice as I am new to Registry Mechanic

Won't Start After Registry Mechanic

Oct 19, 2005

I ran registry mechanic V5 on my office XP machine. It ran smoothly and when I chose compact registry and it finished, it asked me to restart windows, I accepted, and it restarted, after the windows logo, the screen goes blank (black) and does nothing, I restarted again, and chose last working config, the same thing, screen goes blank, and when I restart using any of the safe mode configs, the screen not only goes blank, but there is a blinking cursor on the upper left corner,

I tried to run a Repair install of the Windows XP CD, but, I don't have the "R" option in there, only "ENTER" to Install, "D" to Delete the currenyt partition or "F3" to exit. I don't know how to work with the Repair console I also would want to know what happened if there was no error reported

Installing On System With Multiple Drives

Feb 16, 2009

i am reinstalling windows on a new partition of a new drive and I have several harddrives. when I boot from the windows xp setup cd and it lists all the drives, the one i want to install windows on is currently listed as drive G, but I want it to become drive C. If I just select to install on drive G will it change it to drive C? or do i have to do the thing where I unplug all the drives except the one I want and do the install and then plug the other ones back in afterwards? (i'm reinstalling bc i tried it before and windows ended up on the current drive G, which used to be drive J bc I forgot to unplug some usb devices..)
