Installing WDK - C:Documents Was Not Found
Jul 28, 2009I am trying to install WDK "WDK build 6001.18001". I have downloaded it but when I try to install it, it shows me error "c:Documents was not found."

MSVCR80.DLL Not Found - Installing An App Running From CD
Mar 7, 2008I went to install an app (running from CD) but am greeted with an error message:-
"Executable: 'D:path to .exe' had the following unrecoverable error: Couldn't find library MSVCR80.dll (required by C:PROGRA~1COMMON~1MICROS~1OFFICE12MSOXMLMF.DLL). Please ensure that it is installed."
This particular .dll is installed in several folders including system and system32.
I have uninstalled Windows Defender as this is known to cause this particular problem. Have also uninstalled the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable and reinstalled to no avail
HD Not Found After Installing Latest Update
Oct 10, 2007I posted the same question on MS newsgroup but since nobody replies to it and there are about 8 people with the same problem, I thought that I look somewhere else for answer. I'm in the middle of formatting a hard drive, doing the research while waiting. good thing I have another computer to use. I installed the latest MS Windows Update this afternoon (about 10 hours ago) and it renders my computer unusable. the computer won't boot, it just got stuck on the Windows XP screen where the blue bars go from left to right. after about 2-3 runs, it started to get very slow and the little blocks that make up the bars shows up very slowly like in slow motion. I don't (can't) remember the exact KB number, but I remember installing about 7-8 updates. the critical (required) ones are the malicious software removal thing, a patch for IE6, outlook express patch, ms word patch. then I add the root something update and an update for my network card. hen it told me to reboot the computer but the computer will not boot. I tried another hard drive that I haven't used since March, it performs the same "problem", the bars go for about 2-3 runs then it started to get very slow. then it just sits there, stuck, until I press the reset button. I'm currently formatting this hard drive and leaving the updated one untouched because I don't want to have to format that one. too much data and too many programs to reinstall (I want clean install and clean registry).

Although I am the administrator of this computer, I am unable to access "Documents," (I get this error message: "C: Documents and Settings All users Documents is not accessible. Aug 7, 2007I have lost all of my files within My Documents. All the folders remain, but all of the actual files are missing. No system changes have been made, nothing new was installed. I have run virus scans (I'm using SymantecAV Corporate) AdAware, Spybot S&D with nothing found.
They're still there somewhere, as the user folder properties show the correct size for the folder and number of documents, but not initially - right clicking on the folder to display properties shows a small number at first and then it gradually counts up. Properties for My Documents shows a small number of folders, all empty.

Dec 20, 2006I install Server 2003 Standard SP1 downloaded and installed on a PII 400, 256Mb RAM with IIS, ASP.Net 2.0, SQL server 2000 SP4, Mysql 5, and PHP5, and all without a single hitch...too good to be true. I went ahead and tried on what will be my server PIII600, 512 MB RAM, First try, Server 2003 couldn't find a file when installing, retried and it worked. Downloaded SP1 and when I was extracting it said "file is corrupt", downloaded 4 more times with same result. reformatted and reinstalled 5 more times and cannot get past "file is corrupt" on SP1 and sometimes extracting the .Net 2.0 installer got the same error. I swap all hardware with PC from first try (except RAM, Mobo, CPU, CDROM) with no change. Win98 and XP installed fine on the second PC just can't get server 2003

I have no experience with Vista and have heard more bad than good about it, therefore I think it would be easier to get her up and running if we're not both having to learn a new OS.
I upgraded my computer from ME to XP with few problems but wondered how difficult it would be to take a new laptop and go backwards. Mar 6, 2010I re-formated my sisters computer yesterday, and after installing it i had no internet. As i hadn't installed any drivers yet, i understood that. But after heading over to dell's site, downloading all of the drivers for her computer and then installing them, i STILL do not have any internet. Well, it must have been a bad copy because when I tried to run it, the program just hung up and did not start the dos ghost, despite waiting for an hour. I shut off the power to the computer, and then it was stuck in this loop of going to pc-dos whenever I turned on the computer. It would not bypass this despite picking the option to skip ghost and go straight to windows. Mar 30, 2007I recently had a blue screen of death nightmare and managed to get the system running again by running chkdsk in Windows recovery console. Everything seems to be fine except for the links to My Documents and My Pictures in the start menu. The links are still there on the top right but neither of them have the folder icon and when I right click to open properties I get a desktop error saying "The properties for this item are not available." I can still access the contents of the folders but want to get my system running properly again.
