View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, my "shared documents" folder in "my computer" is now called "Documents." Although I am the administrator of this computer, I am unable to access "Documents," (I get this error message: "C: Documents and Settings All users Documents is not accessible. Access is denied" )and furthermore I am unable to change the folder's setting in "sharing and security" to "share" this folder. Additionally, I am blocked from access to the Shared Music and Shared Picture Samples that come installed on XP Pro. Please tell me how I can restore this folder to its original capacity as a "shared documents" folder. I am currently unable to set any of my folders to be shared. I am using XP Pro.

Whenever I try to change this to My Documents, it immediately reverts back to username's Documents. However, if I open a command window and say dir, I see My Documents which is what I would expect.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe default display pictures on my user accounts are gone (E.g. Skateboarder and Rubber Ducky). They just became the chess pieces picture, but then again, when I try to change them, all I can select from are my own pictures, the default ones are gone.
Also, "Shared Documents" became "Documents". When I try to open it, I can only find subfolders such as "My Music" which are empty, every single file I saved there is gone. I think they are deleted from the hard drive now? Because I noticed the space has increased by a few gigabytes, without uninstalliung anything.
This is my first post, and it's a small issue, but help would be appreciated. I run XP Pro with SP2 on a Compaq Presario laptop. Each time I open "my recent documents" from the Start menu and delete an item, the whole list closes and I have to open again, and go through that each time for multiple deletes. How can I keep the list open and do multiple deletes at one time?

Im using XP and the classic start menu. I like how under documents I can view my documents but I dont like how it shows recently used documents. How can I make it so that it does not show this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with Windows Explorer.Every time I connect a removable drive, the Folders panel displays a duplicate set of "Shared Documents username's Documents, and 2 other entries." It even happens when I plug in my phone to charge through the USB port. Basically, it happens when something is connected in the USB port, card reader, removable drive, ect. Please look at my screen shot and you will understand.I think it has something to do with a Motorola driver I recently uninstalled, but I don't remember which one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust recently I began to get the error message "Documents in this folder are not available. These worked before, and just recently stopped working. I am not sure if a security patch I applied did this
View 4 Replies View RelatedNew user, first time post here. I've got a problem with Windows XP. So a friend of mine gave me a copy of norton ghost 2003 to try out. Well, it must have been a bad copy because when I tried to run it, the program just hung up and did not start the dos ghost, despite waiting for an hour. I shut off the power to the computer, and then it was stuck in this loop of going to pc-dos whenever I turned on the computer. It would not bypass this despite picking the option to skip ghost and go straight to windows. So, I had a new hard drive to put into the computer (which precipitated this whole ghost business in the first place), and i reloaded windows, which went fine

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a serious crash with windows xp (SP2) last night that resulted in having to reinstall Windows XP (it wouldn't repair, wouldn't let me partition and wouldn't let me install windows into a different
directory - was crashing for anything but a full reinstall). As a result of this, I've lost access to the my documents folder of my original user profile. Moreover, it shows as being 0 bytes in size, except the total size of my HDD has not been reduced.
Is it better to have the MyDocuments folder outside the local C: drive or to use the default MyDocuments folder that is a subfolder to the local C: drive? Why? I have been using a MyDocuments folder that is at the same level as MyComputer in the directory tree, because I was told that there is a limitation to the size of the MyDocuments folder. However, it also was mentioned that the size limitation does not exist with WinXPpro.
