Good Effective Way Of Removing Intel Retail Thermal Tape
Jul 3, 2005Anyone know of a good effective way of removing Intel retail thermal tape from the processor?I'm just going to remove it and replace with Arctic Silver.

Diferences Between Intel Pentium 4 And Intel Celeron
Jan 13, 2006Just curious to know details on this question. We are getting a 2nd DELL. The first one is as follows:
Wind. XP Home Ed.
Vers. 2002 SP2
Pent. (R) 4CPU 3000 GHz
2.99 GHz 512 MB of RAM
OUR newest computer is of course different in other ways, but instead of Intel Pent. 4 it is Intel Celeron.
Tape Controller Installation Failed
Sep 9, 2005Whenever I repair/update WindowsXp setup stops during the process and reports taht Tape Controller installation failed. I then have to skip the « Tape controller installation. Otherwise setup proceeds without any other request for input. That appeared some months ago, probably after I installed some software that required it, but most likely is no longer present on my computer. I cannot find « Tape Controller » in the registry, not in any of the *.inf files in the folder Windows Inf.

Aug 7, 2009About 2 days ago, my computer started randomly turning off and on. I would enter my password and it would load windows and run fine. As of yesterday it shut itself down and after I entered my password, it would give me that message. I would choose "Run Windows normally" and it would go to the screen with the Windows logo with the loading bar underneath of it. The loading bar doesn't have the scrolling green light though, and it just sits there.

Burn a copy to CD on a computer it isn't install on, make up a receipt, and go to the Library and do a search of newspapers for computer shows from a couple years ago.Fill out the forms MS gives you and send in with the CD and receipt, and get MS to send you a retail copy for free. OK, I'm not really advocating anybody doing this, just trying to make a point. If someone is gonna pirate XP to begin with, what makes MS think that people won't be doing things like this? Jan 18, 2008I've read the rumors about SP3 boosting performance substantially, and now the release candidate is out. So obviously I'm thinking about installing. In my own research I read that the reason that people reported such great results in the beta stage was because that XP never had support for Dual cores. The sticker on my laptop says Intel Centrino Duo but i'm not even sure what the difference is between duo and dual is or if there is a difference, but i tend to think there is one becuase intel produces stuff that says both. but is that the reason why people saw an increase in performance? I don't want to install the SP3 unless it actually does something besides "fixes security bugs". So what is your opinion on the new SP? To anyone who has install SP3 have you noticed any improvements? Also should i just wait for the official release of SP3?
